Kieran’s POV
They were right and I should give her some space.
“I might go for a walk to the warehouse and grab my clothes” I sighed as I stood up
“Don’t be silly” Hayley chuckled “Where are they? Oscar and I can head out and grab them for you. We will be much quicker”
“They are just in my car” I told her
“We will be back in a few” she chuckled as she took Oscar’s hand, and they disappeared.
“How will they know what car mine is?” I sighed to no one in particular
“They will follow your scent” Nick chuckled “They are vampires remember”
He was right, I was just about to say so when Hayley and Oscar came back with all my clothes and placed my bags at my feet.
“I can hear Jess snoring so you should be good to go in now and unpack” Nick told me with a grin.
“Thanks” I chuckled as I threw the bags over my shoulder and made my way back to our room. Nick was right and Jess was fast asleep. I quietly started to unpack and put away my clothes. I kept glancing over at Jess, but she had not even stirred. Once I had finished unpacking, I went and had a quick shower before climbing into bed beside her. I quickly pulled out my phone and sent a quick message to John.
Me – Is everything all go for tomorrow, Sir?
John – Everything will be perfect. Rest up
I smiled as I put my phone on charge beside me and looked down at Romeo, he lifted his head at me and watched me. Once I was snuggled up to Jess, he put his head back on his paws and closed his eyes again. As I laid beside her, I hoped that in the morning she would still want to be with me.
I woke up in the morning and the bed beside me was empty and even Romeo was no longer in the bedroom. I quickly put on some trackpants and went to go and find Jess. I wanted to have a chance to talk to her before everyone else got up. I found her in the kitchen making herself a cup of tea.
“Hey, I woke up, and you were gone so thought I would come find you and hopefully get a chance to talk to you alone”
“Um sure what do you want to talk about?” she looked up at me, and she looked scared. That was a look I never wanted to see on her face when she was looking at me.
“You seemed freaked out over the fact that I am a shape shifter. I just wanted to make sure that you and I are still ok”
She smiled at me then and I knew that she was fine and that we would be fine. She leaned her head against my chest, and I kissed the top of her head. She was right and the last few days had thrown so much at her. I could understand her needing some time out to process it all. We didn’t get chance to reflect on anything more than we loved each other before Hayley came to join us and let us know that she could hear the others all stirring. Jess grabbed a teapot and a coffee plunger while asking me and Hayley to grab the milk, sugar and cups and take them to the table. We had just got everything settled on the table when the others all came out to join us. It was decided that Hayley would make breakfast this morning and she was going to make us all French toast. From the look on Jess’s face, she was very happy with that decision. Hayley and Oscar went into the kitchen to start cooking and Jess decided to go back to the room and call John. Since everyone was here now, she did not see the point in delaying the meeting. To be honest I fully agreed with her. While Hayley was cooking the rest of us sat drinking our teas and coffees and I filled them all in on what would be happening after the meeting tonight. Once we were done, we set the table and made sure it was ready for when Hayley was finished. I kept glancing towards the bedroom wondering if she would tell John how I told her about myself. Not that I really told her since she dug it out of my brain. Jess did not come out until Hayley came out with our breakfast, I tried to read her face. But it was a blank canvas, the only thing she was showing emotion about was the food that Hayley just put down in front of her.
“So, Jess what did the boss have to say?” I asked as I sat down next to her.
“He asked us to meet him at the warehouse at 1500 hours today” she told me while she started to eat.
“Ok cool did you tell him that I ….um…..told you?” I asked
She told me that it came up and to relax as he was fine. I relaxed as I watched her devour the food. The others came to join us, and I filled them in on our meeting time since Jess seemed more focused on her food. Romeo was also very excited as everyone kept slipping him bits of bacon under the table.
Once breakfast was finished Amber wanted to know what the plans were while we waited for the meeting. Jess told her that she planned on going for a run and then a swim. I forgot that she had a swimming pool and the idea of a run, and a swim sounded great to me. I asked her if I could come along and I was sure she would say no as she wanted time to clear her head. But I was wrong, and she was fine for me to go ahead and join her. Hopefully a run and swim could become part of our daily routine. Hayley ran off saying she was having a spa, and we left the others as we went back to the bedroom to get changed into some shorts. Romeo was sat waiting for us knowing that he was about to go for a run with us. I was hoping that after our run and swim that we might go and join the others in the spa too. It would be a nice way to relax our muscles after some physical exercise.
