Jess’s POV
“Yeah, I did. I was young and he told me that he loved me, and I believed him. But it was a joke. He had made a bet with his mates that he would be able to take a vampire’s virginity. He won the bet and broke my heart in the process”
“Oh, Hayley I am so sorry. I had no idea”
“Yeah, it was not something that I talked about to anyone”
I leaned over Oscar and gave her a hug “Right now let’s hope that Oscars deepest secret is a bit lighter” I smiled at Oscar as I went in to his mind. Then I started rolling on the floor laughing. “Hey Hayley, I think that you better start locking your wardrobe”
“What?”
“When Oscar was little his sisters used to dress him up in their pretty dresses. They also used to put bows in his hair and put makeup on him”
“I was just a kid leave me alone. It’s not like I dressed myself in their dresses. I just wanted someone to play with me”
“It’s ok I still love you, Oscar. But if I notice that some of my dresses have been stretched then you will be in big trouble”
Oscar gave Hayley an evil look and then finally relaxed and laughed along with the rest of us “Now Jess can you please take the heat off me and read someone else’s dirty secret”
“Sure thing. Well Kieran it looks like your next” I had never read Kieran’s mind as I loved him and did not want to break the trust between us. But now I finally got to have a probe in his mind. What I saw stunned me. “You’re not human”
“Shit. I was waiting for the right time to tell you. I did not expect that to be in front of a room full of drunken people. I am a shape shifter”
“What is that?”
“It means that I can shift into any shape I want”
“You mean like an animal?”
“No, I mean anything or one. If it has a heart, I can change into it. Watch”
We all sat watching Kieran. At first nothing happened. Then he started to shimmer. He started to glow. It started of dim and then got so bright that we had to look away. When we looked back, we were looking at me.
“What the fuck” I touched his or rather my face, then I touched my own. They felt exactly the same. “Wow that is so creepy. Is this how you got a job in the agency? This could be very useful”
“Yeah, that’s one way to put it. I wanted you to know before the meeting as John has been pestering me to tell you. I have a feeling that he is going to send me in under cover when the Aliens come back. So that while you guys are coming in to attack from the outside. I can attack from the inside. Or even better I can let you in so that we can attack in their ship”
“Ok. I drank down my shot” The truth or dare had not gone as planned at all “Ok I have had enough excitement for one day. I am going to hit the sack. Night guys” I got up and walked to my room. Romeo followed at my heels. I lay on the bed with my eyes closed trying to put together everything that had happened the last few days. I could not believe that my friends all had boyfriends that I had no idea about, I had just got back with Kieran to discover that he is a shape shifter. I must have fallen asleep because the sun was shining when I opened my eyes. Kieran was laid on the bed next to me snoring quietly. Romeo was in his bed at the foot of the bed. He looked up at me when I moved. I got out of bed carefully so that I would not wake Kieran. I grabbed my robe from the back of the door and put my slippers on. “Come on Romeo. Let’s let you out to pee” I whispered as I opened the bedroom door. No one else was up yet. I opened the back door, and Romeo ran out to do his morning business. I walked back into the kitchen and put the kettle on. I was just putting the tea bag in my cup when Kieran came up behind me.
“Hey, I woke up, and you were gone so thought I would come find you and hopefully get a chance to talk to you alone”
“Um sure what do you want to talk about?”
“You seemed freaked out over the fact that I am a shape shifter. I just wanted to make sure that you and I are still ok”
“Of course we are ok. A lot has happened these last few days is all. It’s going to take me a while to get used to it. But I love you. That’s all that matters at the moment to me” I leaned my head against his chest, and he kissed my head.
“I love you too. Can I have a cuppa too?”
“Sure” I grabbed another cup
“Yeah, cuppa time” Hayley came flowing into the room with Oscar in tow ‘Morning my lovelies how are we all this morning?”
“We are fine. Am guessing that you would both like a cuppa?”
“Oh yes please. You might want to get cups ready for the others too as I can hear them all stirring”
“Ok” Decided against just making the tea in cups and grabbed out a tea pot and a coffee plunger. “Hey, can you guys please take the cups milk and sugar out to the table while I make the coffee and tea?”
“Sure thing” Kieran gave me a kiss and then went to the fridge to get the milk. Hayley was right I had just carried the tea and coffee to the table when the others came out. “What does everyone want for breakfast?” I asked. I hoped they all just wanted toast or cereal.
“That is not your concern Jess. We told you when we got here that we are looking after all the meals. Kieran cooked last night so who wants to cook breakfast?” Asked Amber
“I would love to make breakfast. I was thinking French toast with bacon and banana. Does that sound good to everyone?” Hayley asked
