Chapter 86 Chapter 86
Kieran’s POV
Everyone but Jess and I got out of the van, and she quickly parked it in the garage. I started to help her unpack when Hayley suddenly appeared and started to help her. Anyone would be able to look at her and tell that she was pissed off. I liked Hayley and did not like the thought of her being upset. We placed the bags on the kitchen floor and Hayley started to put all the food away. I was glad she was doing it as I had no clue where everything went. Hopefully I would get chance to have some alone time in here so I could work it out. We had just finished bringing in all the bags when Chritina came in and asked if she could talk to Hayley in private. I wanted to know what was going on, but I knew I also needed to respect their privacy. I followed Jess out of the kitchen and to the lounge where Nick and Amber were sat. I could feel the tension in the air, and I needed some fresh air. I also wanted to check the place out. Thankfully Jess was fine with me taking Romeo for a walk with me. I quickly left the room calling out for him. I was not planning on walking too far, I just wanted to check out the perimeter of the property. Romeo came running over to me and I opened the front door with him at my heels. As soon as I had the door closed, I set of running, I didn’t want to be gone to long since I was planning on making dinner. I had not cooked a meal in years, while I was on the road I just ate out all the time. Now that I was back with Jess, I planned on cooking for us at any opportunity I could get.
It did not take long for me to run the perimeter and make it back to the house. Romeo kept pace with me the whole time. I was impressed with John for finding this place for Jess, it was a great set up and the forest would be a great place for hunting for the guests that prefer blood and fresh meat over cooked meals. I arrived back in the house and was shocked to see that Hayley was now in the lounge with Nick. I guess the talk she had with Christina must have worked. Just as I arrived Jess asked who was going to be making dinner. I told her I would be and told her she should offer our guests a drink. She seemed taken back by my comment and I could not understand why. She said she wanted me to move in with her, did that not make this place mine also and her guests our guests now? Or was I jumping ahead of myself?
I walked off to the kitchen and started to grab out everything that I would need to make nachos. It was a quick and easy meal for now while I figured out where everything was kept in the kitchen. I had just started to cook the mince when Jess came in and tried to sneak up on me and see what I was cooking. I quickly spun around and put my hands on her shoulders to stop her. I knew it was silly as it was only Nachos, but I wanted to surprise her. I told her that it would only be about ten minutes as she grabbed some wine glasses and a bottle of wine. I watched her leave the kitchen before I turned back to my pot and carried on cooking. Once everything was simmering, I grated some cheese, made the guacamole and grabbed out a tub of sour cream. When Jess came back in, I was just starting to dish it all up. She grabbed another bottle of wine alone with a Jim and coke. I finished plating up and when Jess came back again, she helped me carry out the plates and toppings. I plated up an extra plate for Amber’s man Paul and placed it in the oven. I was not sure when he would arrive, but I was guessing he would be hungry when he got here. I grabbed myself a beer and then went to join everyone at the huge dining room table.
All the girls had a glass of wine, and the JD had been for Nick. I noticed that Jess kept grabbing a sip of wine from her glass every time she walked past, and it made me chuckle. When I left, she was still underage so has not been able to drink when I took her out for dinner. It would be nice to now be able to sit, relax and have a drink. Well for the next day or two at least until we had to go and meet John. We had just sat down and started to eat when someone knocked at the door, I guess that would be Paul arriving now. Jess got up to answer the door, and I followed behind her. I was surprised that Amber did not get up and join us too. Maybe she is not as touchy feely with her man as Christina is with hers. Jess opened the door, and I was surprised when Hayley’s man Oscar came inside with Paul. I thought that Hayley said he would not arrive till tomorrow. Thankfully we still had plenty of food left and I would easily be able to make up an extra plate for Oscar if he wanted one.
“Are you both hungry? There is plenty of food left?” I asked them
Paul wanted some, but Oscar let us know that he had already grabbed something to eat on the way. I hope that the poor human was not too scared having a vampire feed on them after just being abducted by aliens. I let Jess show them to the table while I went back to the kitchen to grab the food and a drink for Oscar since his sense of smell picked up the JD’s that Nick was drinking.
