Jess’s POV
“No. Oscar is going to stop by my place and pack my things for me. So, I get to stay and hang out with you. I am also going to go shopping with you as I do not trust you when it comes to food. You may be able to live of chocolate but the rest of us need real food”
“What the hell you do not need food at all. You can live off just blood”
“That’s true but I need to think of our friends. I even need to think about Nick” Her mouth turned into a sneer at his name.
“Who is Nick and why do you not like him?”
“Nick is Christina’s man”
“Oh, the werewolf?”
“That’s the one. Why do you not like him? Does he treat her bad?”
“No, he treats her like a queen”
“Then what?”
“I just don’t like his kind, Jess. Now please can we drop it?”
Amber and Christina came and joined us then. There were no more seats, so they sat down at Hayley’s and my feet. Romeo moved over so that he had to lie at Kieran’s feet. He gave the girls a look to let them know that he was not happy about it. Now we were all seated. John was still in his chair. Mum was in the other. She had also brought two of the dining room chairs in so that dad and Justin could have a seat.
“Ok so now that we are all seated, I wanted to make arrangements to that we can meet up back in the office. Girls when are your men going to be here?”
“Oscar is going to be here tomorrow. He told me he is hoping to make it by lunch time. He is driving though so he might be a bit longer”
“That’s good Hayley. Is he ok with working with us on this?”
“Yes, he is fine. He knows that the only reason that we are here”
“Ok. Amber when is you man getting here?”
“Paul is setting of in a couple of hours he just has to pack some of our things up. So, he should be here later tonight”
“Ok and you Christina?”
“Nick is also just packing some stuff. He is also going to run to my place to grab some things. He should also be here tonight”
“That’s great. So, if we all arrange to meet at the office in two day’s time. Everyone should be here by then and that gives you guys tomorrow to all get acquainted”
“Sure, boss what time do you want us?” I asked
“I was thinking around 1100 hours. Is that, ok?”
“Sounds good to me. I am sure that we can make it”
“Does that mean that we all get to go in the kombi” Christina was looking at me with pure excitement in her eyes.
“Yes, we will go in the kombi”
“Ok that’s settled then. If you don’t mind, I think that I will head off. It has been an exciting few days and now I just want to curl up for a couple of days” John got up and made his way to the door. “Do you mind dropping me back at the warehouse?” He asked my parents.
“Of course,” my dad smiled as he led the way out
“Drive safely” I got up to see him out. Mum, dad and Justin got up too.
“Have fun” John chuckled over his shoulder.
“Make sure that you drive safe dad”
“I always do darling” They walked around the back of my house with John. A couple of minutes later they all came around the corner. I waved at them all as they drove down my drive.
All of a sudden Hayley appeared behind me. “When are we going shopping?”
“The humans will not be back yet. There will be no one to serve us”
“Jess, come on. The electricity is still on so they should still have eftpos. I am sure that one of us could work the till”
“Good point. Ok let’s go now then. We can also stop off at the bottle store. I think that we all deserve a drink, and we don’t have work tomorrow”
Hayley squealed and ran back inside to tell the others that we were heading out. By the time I got back inside all 3 girls were stood there with their handbags waiting to go.
“Are we all going?” I asked as I looked at all of them. Even Kieran looked excited. They all nodded at me with big grins on their faces. “Ok. I will just go and get my purse”
“Now I do not think that would be a good idea” Kieran looked at me like he was a gangster
“What? I need my purse so that I can pay for the groceries”
“That’s the thing Jess we have all decided that we are going to pay for the food as you are letting us use your house this is only fair” The look Amber gave me told me that there was no point in arguing as I would lose.
“Fine. I am still going to get my purse though as it has my driving licence in it. Don’t want to get a fine now do I” I heard laughter as I walked down the hall to my bedroom. I grabbed my purse and put it into one of my handbags. I walked back to the lounge and grabbed my car keys of the kitchen bench on my way past. “Ok who is ready to go for a ride in the Kombi” I led the way to the garage with Romeo at my heels. There was no way that he was going to miss out on going for a ride. The Kombi had been decked out with bench seats along both sides. Each could fit three people. The girls all wanted to sit in the back with Romeo. Kieran came and sat in the front with me. “Ok so are we just going to go to the local 4 square or do you guys want to hit town?”
“It has to be town they have a better liquor selection” Hayley was bouncing on her seat. I could not remember the last time I had seen her so happy.
“Town it is then” I reversed out of my garage and started the 40-minute drive into town. I had just reached the end of my drive when the girls started chanting from the back.
“Music, Music, Music”
“Ok I get the hint. I am guessing that you would like me to turn the sounds on” I reached over and turned the stereo on. I passed the CD case into the back to let them choose what CD they wanted to listen to. We ended up listening to a mixed rock CD.
