Chapter 80 Chapter 80
Kieran’s POV
We had not been walking long when I noticed Justin slowing down until he was walking level with his parents. I knew he was going to get his mum to cast a spell on him and that pissed me off. Not all the work we did was saving the day and being recognised as heroes. Most of the time we were in the wilderness saving people who didn’t even realise how close they were to danger. Justin wanted to be part of the service, and he could not even handle a fast walk. Hell, I held the record in training for years for having the quickest time completing the elite rough terrain course. That was until Jess came along and kicked my arse by an hour. I remember John telling me the story of her abusing the hell out of him. He told her that if she was too soft to handle it to leave. She then stormed off in a huff determined to prove him wrong. I got so much shit from everyone after that, not that they could talk, she may have beaten me, but she kicked their arses too. In a way I guess John was right to send me away as I don’t think Jess would have tried as hard if I had still been here. I think her anger and pain pushed her to be a better agent and it does not matter now anyway. We are back together and happy now and that is all that matters. I took her hand as we were walking, and we fell into a comfortable silence.
We made it back to Jess’s place in two and a half hours. I am sure it would have been longer if Justin had not gotten Alice to put a spell on him. As soon as Romeo saw the house, he went off running full speed towards it. I had never seen a dog act like him before. He started to run laps around the house, and I was not sure how the hell he still had the energy to do that after all the walking we had been doing. Jess went to the door and opened it, Romeo pushed past her and ran inside. Jess stood waiting for him by the door. I was about to ask what she was doing when Romeo came running back wagging his tail and Jess patted him on the head calling him a good boy before walking inside.
Jess offered to show me around since I had not been there before. I didn’t have the heart to tell her I had been in her house and looked around it when we came here looking for her. But then again, I didn’t look at the rooms as I was only looking for Jess. I allowed her to lead me to her room, and I placed our packs down. I guess it was not just her room anymore, it was mine too now. I grinned at the bed looking forward to getting her in it. Now it did not matter if she had the odd night when she was too tired. She would be right next to me every night so I was sure I would be able to get laid at least once a day.
We went back to the lounge, and all the girls were on their phones while John was sat down drinking a coffee. Jess asked him who the girls were talking to, and I looked at her shocked. If I was to guess I would say their men and I was right. Jess sat down on the couch and watched her friends with a puzzled look on her face. I went to sit down next to her as it did not take a genius to work out that she was thinking about the fact her friends kept their love life from her so they would not hurt her. In a way I envied her, as I was surrounded by love and it made life hell, and I am sure I turned more bitter because of it.
Hayley finished first and made Jess move over so she could sit with us. Turns out her man was going to be here tomorrow. I was glad that Jess’s house has a lot of land and was surrounded my wildlife as I knew that they would both need to go hunting to feed. I knew that Hayley did not kill humans, and I hoped that her man was the same. If not, we would be having some problems, and I am not sure how Jess or Hayley would feel if I killed her man.
It turned out that her man was bring all her things with him, so she would be going shopping with Jess. I was as confused as Jess was about why she would care about the food. They don’t have to eat our food, turns out she was just worried about the others including Nick who is Christina’s werewolf boyfriend. But the way she said his name was like a snarl, it made me worried that he was abusive and treated Christina badly. Christina was too sweet to be in an abusive relationship. I was about to ask why she didn’t like him, but Jess beat me too it. Turns out that Hayley hates werewolves, but she refused to tell Jess why. I knew that they had a feud going, it had been that way for thousands of years, but most vamps and werewolves have gotten over it. Hayley and her family don’t seem like the kind of vampires that would hold a grudge. It made me wonder if there was another reason why Hayley did not like werewolves. I would leave it for now, but I plan on doing some digging and finding out what was going on. In this war we would all need to work together, and they would not be able to do that if Hayley is holding on to a grudge that will affect her working with Nick.
