Jess’s POV
“Hey mum John was wondering if he could have a word with you.”
“Of course. Do you think he would mind if I brought your dad with me?”
“I am sure that would be fine. I would love to stay and chat, but I think that I need to go and save Kieran from Justin”
Mum looked over towards Kieran “Yes poor boy. It looks like Justin is chewing his ear off”
Mum and I parted ways. She walked with dad to the front of the group to talk to John and I went back to my group to save Kieran.
“I am so excited about working with you man. So, where you the one who taught Jess all that she knows?”
“No Justin John was the one who taught me all that I know. Now can you please stop chewing off my man’s ear?”
“Hey, I was just talking to him”
“No Justin you were asking a million and one questions. Can you not wait until you are at the office to ask all the questions?”
“I suppose I am just excited is all”
“Excited. We have just let aliens that want to rape and reproduce with our women get away. We are now going back to the office to plan how we can stop them kidnapping the women again and you’re excited? Oh my god Justin this is not some movie that you can guarantee is going to have a good ending where the good guys win. We could lose this war and if we do the human race will be extinct”
“Am sorry. I didn’t think about it that way” Justin gave me one more sorry look and walked back to the front to walk with John.
“Great now I feel like the biggest bitch ever”
“You’re not a bitch you’re just stressed. I can understand why you went nuts he has no idea and was talking like this is one of the computer games that he designs”
“Yeah, but that’s not his fault. He does not know what goes on. He has not been trained to think the way we do. There was no excuse for me to go off at him like that” I put my head down and walked in silence for the next ten minutes. My head kept going over what had happened and how we could have stopped the aliens getting away. But I could not find any way where we could have safely stopped them getting away. Suddenly the humans at the front of the group started to run.
“What the heck is going on up there?”
“They can see the hotel that Nicole told us about. I am guessing that most of the men have partners and kids there”
“True it must have been hard not knowing if you would ever see them again. In a way it was easier for us as we were all together”
“Yeah, but then if one of us had been hurt we would have seen it happen. That would have been harder. For most of them they would not be able to cope and keep fighting”
“Hey, I have been trained to block out and keep fighting but if I ever saw you get shot, I would not be able to stop and move on. I would most likely break down and cry”
“Yeah, to be honest I think that I would do the same”
By the time we reached the hotel all the humans had already beaten us to it. Nicole walked over to us, leaving the other Humans behind her.
“I have a meeting room inside if you would like to come in and talk in private. I have also got rooms if you would like to come and rest for a while”
“I cannot speak for the rest of my team but a bed for the night sounds great to me. I would also like to take up the offer of the meeting room so that we can talk in private. I do not want the other people in the room, but I do not mind if you want to be present as you seem to have become to spokeswoman for the humans of Canterbury” John spoke for all of us.
“Yes, it does seem that way” she chuckled “If you would care to follow me. I have already set up a room for us” We all followed Nicole through the hotel. I was stunned at how fancy it was. There was a waterfall in the foyer. She led us past the reception desk to a room to the left. There was a huge glass table in the middle of the room with comfortable leather chairs all around it. John walked to the end of the table and sat down. Nicole took the other end of the table. Kieran and I sat on either side of John. The others just sat themselves wherever there was a spare seat. John started to speak as soon as everyone was seated, and the door had been shut.
“Ok Nicole what have you heard?”
“Not much really. I heard that there was a battle and then the aliens left. What I want to know is have we won this war?”
“No. The aliens got away. We know that they will return as they need the woman so that they can reproduce”
“What I don’t understand. Why can they not reproduce on their own?”
“There woman can no longer fall pregnant. They sent one of their women here. We found her. She told us that she had been gathering information to see how we reproduce etcetera. She discovered that it would be possible for the men of her kind to come and reproduce with our women.”
“That’s sick. What would the child look like?”
“We have no idea. We also have no intention of letting it happen. We are going to stop this. Next time that they come we are going to be ready”
“And how are you going to be ready? It sounds like you knew that they were going to come this time and you got there just in time to stop them raping the women”
“We know we stuffed up. But we could not see away to protect the humans without exposing what the risk was. Did any of the women get raped?”
“No, they were stripped and thrown in the cage. That’s all. Why didn’t you expose the risk? Do you think that the general public would not be able to cope with it?”
I looked at her shocked, Delica told me that some of the women where already pregnant, did she lie to me as I don’t see a reason why Nicole would lie to us.
