Chapter 69 Chapter 69

Chapter 69 Chapter 69
Kieran’s POV
We set off to town and split into groups, John as our leader was walking in front with Justin who was chewing his ear off. I had to smile at his enthusiasm. Jess took my hand as we were walking, and I did not say a word as I smiled to myself. It was nice, it did not feel like we were walking away from a failed war. It felt like we were just going for a nice walk with family and friends. Jess started to chat with her friends as they all wanted to come and stay with her for a while. It turns out that Jess and Hayley were the only ones who had their own place, but Hayley lived up north still. I did not mind her friends staying as long as we still got some alone time, but it turns out I did not need to worry as they all had partners who they would bring too. I was wondering why they did not bring them here, until they made a comment about Jess. Turns out she avoided love after I left, she would not even watch a chick flick anymore. I felt bad that me leaving caused her to avoid love all together to the point that even her friends could not share their happy news with her. They all started to talk about what rooms they wanted, and I felt at a loss. I know I had gone in her house, but I had not been too focused on the layout I just wanted to find Jess. As they carried on talking, I started to think about the girl’s men and how they might be able to help. Hayley was with another Vamp, I wondered if he was with her family, but she had just not wanted to introduce him properly. Amber was with another witch, and I was curious to know if he was a fighting with like her or a healing witch like Christina. Now Christina’s man shocked me, she was dating a werewolf. Sweet innocent Christina with a werewolf, but she said that they love each other and that he treats her well and that’s all that matters.
The girls then started teasing Jess asking what they were going to eat since Jess didn’t eat. I had thought she was skinny, but while I had been with her, she had been eating fine. It turns out she was living on cereal and chocolate. I would definitely be changing that when I moved in with her, even if I had to be the one to do all the cooking.
Jess left to go and update John on the girls moving in and their partners. The girls wandered off and talked among themselves. I was glad to get some alone time for a bit, but that soon came to an end when Justin walked over to me.
“Hi” he grinned “how is my soon to be brother-in-law doing?”
“Good” I chuckled as I held in my sigh
“John is letting me come and work with you guys on a trial basis”
I had a feeling he would “That’s good” I smiled
“So, if I do well will I get a car and house like Jess? Though to be honest I am not a fan of cars, so maybe I could get an electric car or electric bike or something like that”
“I think you should focus on passing the training period first” I told him “Jess has to pass her exams before she got her house and car”
“I know” he nodded enthusiastically “I have my own place and bike anyway. I was just wondering if that was a perk that all the agents got”
“We are all well looked after” I told him as I glanced up and saw that Jess was now talking to her mum. If I was to guess I would say that John mentioned that he would like to have her on the team as well.
“I am so excited about working with you man. So, where you the one who taught Jess all that she knows?” He asked me
“No Justin John was the one who taught me all that I know. Now can you please stop chewing off my man’s ear?” Jess growled as she came back to join me.
I gave her a grateful smile as Justin pouted telling her that he was just talking to me. Then Jess lost her cool and started to tell Justin exactly how it was. Tell him that this was not a movie where we were guaranteed to win and that he should not be so excited. I glanced at Justin who looked like he had been punched in the gut. He quickly apologised before running off. I felt bad for him, I could understand his excitement, but I could also understand Jess’s point of view. We needed to win this war though and having more people on the team would ensure our success. From watching how Justin acted and the way that he handled the gun. I was feeling confident that he would made a good member of our team.
Suddenly all the men started to run I looked up and saw the hotel had come into view. I grinned as the men ran towards their women and children. Once we reached the hotel all the humans had beaten us to it. Nicole spotted us and walked over, she offered us all a bed for the night and a meeting room if we would like to use it. John excepted both offers and told her that she would be invited to the meeting, but he did not want any of the other humans present. I could understand that we needed to fill her in and make a plan. If we had too many people in the meeting it would turn into a circus and take forever to get anything sorted. I must admit I was looking forward to spending the night in a bed and hopefully I would get a private room with Jess all to myself.
