Chapter 52 Chapter 52
Jess’s POV
“You are so lucky that I love you”
“Ok enough with the lover quarrel. Kieran you are down there with me. We will back up Justin until the men and kids are free and then we head for the women. William I would like your team to back us up, if that’s ok?”
“Of Course. As long as you do not mind some of us sampling the blood of the alien folk as we are a tad curious”
“Not at all. Just try not to let the humans see as it might freak them out a bit”
“We are not going to let the humans see us at all. We do not mind them believing in aliens, but we would rather that we stayed as something from horror movies. Something that is not real”
“That makes sense. But you will be known as heroes not villains. You do know that?”
“We will always be the bad guys no matter what we do. I would just rather that they still thought that we did not exist. Now can we please end this discussion and get on with freeing them”
“Of course, sorry. Ok is every one ready?”
We all nodded. I walked away from the others to get myself settled on my ledge. Romeo came and lay down next to me and put his head on his front paws. He knew that this could take a while. Romeo was used to gun shots with me taking him hunting all the time, so he just glanced at the rifle as I took it out of its case and started to attach the scope. Kieran came and gave me a kiss before he left.
“I love you Jess”
“I love you too. Keep safe”
“I will on one condition”
“What’s that?”
He got down on to one knee and took my left hand in his “When all of this is over will you marry me?”
Tears came to my eyes and spilled over “Of course I will marry you” I pulled him into my arms and kissed him with all that I had. He pulled away from me, gave me one more peck kiss on the lips and then went to join the others. I watched them all descend the track down the side of the mountain. They kept to the shaded side of the mountain so that they were more sheltered and less likely to be seen. When they got too far away for me to see them with my naked eye, I set myself up and looked through my scope. I saw them reach the edge of the camp and put my finger over the trigger. Kieran and John had said that they would keep a look out for Justin, but I would do I better job. I could keep them all safe by making sure that none of the alien pricks got anywhere near them. Justin went to the cage with the males in it and put his finger to his lips. He had been given a device for picking locks before they left, so all that he had to do was put the end of the device in the keyhole and the device would do the rest. I saw the lock click open and let out a breath that I did not know that I had been holding. Kieran started to motion for the men to follow him, and I was impressed that they all started to follow him without a hitch. Then I saw that William and another couple of his guys were stood near the exit to the cage. Humans may not believe in vampires but one look at these guys and you knew that you did not want to mess with them. Then I saw that one of the aliens had spotted Justin. I saw the alien turn obviously to alert the leader of what was happening. He did not make it even one step. I fired my gun and hit his straight between the eyes. Kieran, John and Justin saw the alien fall, and they all looked in my direction and gave me the thumbs up. I could understand Justin doing that he had never seen me work and he had no idea how a mission like this worked. But Kieran and John were professionals for God’s sake. I had to admit to myself though it made me feel very good. Justin waved at me as he walked past with all the men close behind. I gave him a nod and then went back to watching Kieran and John. They had moved the dead alien into the cage where the men had been kept. They had shut the door, but they had not reengaged the lock. They moved from building to building and it made me happy to watch Kieran work. I had been told that he was very good, but I had never had to pleasure of watching him. Now I was. I was getting a very good view. I saw another alien. This one was coming up behind Kieran. Again, I pulled the trigger and killed it with one shot. Kieran spun around when he heard the thud of the alien hitting the ground. He looked in my direction, and I saw the look of astonishment on his face he gave me a weak smile and then carried on. I was so glad that they had set me up here. If I had not been here Kieran might have been killed. Kieran and John decided to change the way that they were proceeding. Kieran started to take the front with his gun in position and John took the back. They walked with their backs together. They made it to the middle of the camp and Kieran picked the lock to let the women free. The woman where scare of the men and started to back further into the cage. Hayley came running over at a human speed to calm them down. I saw her talking to them and they all seemed to calm down. I saw one of the women who Hayley was talking to point towards one of the buildings. I hated not been able to hear what was been said. Hayley turned towards Kieran and John and then she pointed towards to building that the other lady had pointed to. Kieran and John both nodded and then headed toward the building while Hayley got the women out and started to lead them out of the alien camp and towards our camp. I had no idea who I should look out for. Hayley had the women, and she also had speed and strength. But then she would not want to use that in front of the humans. Kieran and John both had guns. I moved the gun from Hayley to the men and then back. Then Kieran and John entered the building that Hayley and the woman had both pointed to. I had no way of seeing inside so decided that I would watch Hayley until she was out of the camp. I kept checking back on the men, but they had not come back out of the building.
