Chapter 51 Chapter 51
Kieran’s POV
William introduced us to his family, and I instantly liked him, he was fun and let Hayley think she was the boss like any good grandfather should. Once lunch was finished, we all headed out to the top of the mountain to carry out our plan. We were going to get the men out first and Justin was going to get them back to camp while the rest of us worked on saving the women. The men would be much easier to save, and it was a job that Justin could do without getting in the way. John gave him the order to stay with us. Jess was setting herself up at a high vantage point so she could shoot while keeping an eye on us. Romeo was with her and had made himself comfortable beside her. William and his team were our back up and their only condition was that they would be allowed to sample the alien blood. Hell, I would be happy for them to drain the fuckers dry if their blood was good for them. John made the comment for them not to feed in front of the humans and William let us all know that they were not planning on the humans seeing them at all. Once everyone knew their job I walked over to Jess. I could not go do this mission without asking her something first. I got down on one knee in front of her and asked the question I had been wanting to ask her since we arrived at camp.
“When all of this is over will you marry me?”
Tears came to her eyes, and she gave the answer I needed to hear. “Of course, I will marry you” she pulled me into her arms, and we shared a passionate kiss that promised for more before I pulled away gave her one more kiss on the lips before going to join the others. We all made our way down to the camp making sure to stay to the shadows. We made it to the first cage with the men in it and Justin used the lock picker we had given him to unlock the cage. Once the cage was open, I motioned for the men to follow me. They all followed without question.
“We will be freeing the women after we get you out” I told them as they started to follow Justin. Suddenly I heard a thud and looked over to see an alien with a bullet hole in his head. I chuckled as both John and I turned to Jess’s direction and gave her a thumbs up
“She will be so pissed at us for doing that” John chuckled
“She is cute when she is pissed” I told him
We moved the dead alien to the cage that the men had been in to get him out of the way. Justin took the men back up the hill while we started checking out the buildings and making our way to the women. Suddenly I heard a thud right behind me, I spun around and saw another alien with a bullet in its head. I had not even heard it coming up behind me, if Jess had not been watching us, I would be dead. I gave her a weak smile as I turned to John “We need to walk back-to-back” I told him as I pointed at the alien.
“Shit” he growled as he turned to walk backwards with his back pushed against mine “Your girl just saved both our arses”
“Fiancé” I corrected “I just asked her to marry me once all this is over and she said yes”
“Congrats” he chuckled as we approached the cage with the women and opened it.
As soon as the women spotted us, they started to panic and back further into the cage. Thankfully Hayley came running over making sure to be at a human speed and told the women it was ok.
“Can you get our clothes?” one of the women asked her as she pointed at a building behind her “they stored them over there”
“We will get the clothes, you take them to camp” John told her as he motioned for me to follow him.
We walked into the building, and I didn’t like that we were now hidden from Jess’s view. I felt safer knowing that she was keeping an eye on us. Not that we needed to worry the building was completely deserted. We found the clothes and loaded them into a couple of large packs that we could carry. We left the camp and made our way back up the hill to Jess. Something did not sit right with me and this whole mission seemed to have been too easy. Where was Delica?
As soon as we reached Jess, she voiced the same thing, this whole mission had been too easy. John made a comment about Jess killing the aliens before they could report back. But he was not fully right, they were telepathic. So, they most likely reported that we where there the second the first alien saw us.
Jess told us to get the women sorted at camp and she would stay and shoot any aliens she saw. I told her I would be back and help her. I had no idea where the vampires were as Hayley had gone back to camp and she was the only one who could communicate with them. I hated leaving Jess on her own, but I only had pistols, and they would be no good for shooting things at a distance. At least she would have Romeo to keep her protected until I came back. The vampires were all back at camp when we arrived and I left John to update them all on and give the women their clothes, while I grabbed a rifle I was about to run back to Jess when my watch started to alert me that a ship had been picked up by our satellite entering the earth orbit. I quickly ran and grabbed my tablet while calling John over. I opened the satellite imaging, and we both watched as a battleship approached earth
“Fuck” John growled “Go get Jess while I get the vamps to finish off any aliens that are left on that base”
“On it” I sighed as I ran back to Jess. When I arrived, I noticed her eyes were glazed over and I had a bad feeling that she was talking to Delica.
