Chapter 49
Callum's POV
"So what did he say?" Reid asked. "He said he would take the elderly and the children. I told him they would arrive in a week." I was glad we had a place for my Pack to go. War was rough, and usually, we were the ones going to places. This time, the fight would come to us. "Did you call the alphas already at sending their warriors?" "Yes, they should be here when our pack has been moved." "I am glad we have a lot of barracks for visitors." "Yeah, it was a good investment."
Jax said, "What are we going to do about Daisy." "Yeah, I have been thinking about that." "She is the Luna. She should be with the people who can't fight. Then again, she is one of our best weapons. Not to mention, Summit Pack won't want her there. They have made that clear." "I think she is going to have to stay in the fight. I mean, I know that is what she will want to do anyway." Both Jax and Reid nodded. David walked into the office.
"The Royals are coming." We all looked at him. "I had someone I trust in the palace call me this morning. He said they will be here soon. Most likely a week and a half. Since they have to move many people across the ocean, it will take some planning. "Who all is coming?" "All of them, from what I heard. The king is furious you killed his son." Reid asked. "How the hell would he know he is dead?" "I don't know that. I assume he either felt the bond die. Or someone told them we were attacking them, and since he had not heard from him, he assumed he was dead or captured."
"This is good," Jax said. "How is that good?" I said I was agitated. The more Royals here, the harder it would be to kill them. "Well, if the king is here and the first prince comes, and they are killed, you and Daisy can take the throne. I mean, she does have a claim; after all, technically, you are a king." I was curious to know if I wanted to replace the Royals. Again, Lorde loved the idea of being in charge of everyone. If Daisy and I did take the throne. I knew we would do things so much differently.
For one, we would not demand taxes. Nor would we call our Pack the Royal Pack. It would still be Blood Paw Pack. Our titles would change. If we took over, we would be more involved in other packs. Truth be told, I was already regulating how other packs were run. I enjoyed the work, and those packs had gotten much stronger under my leadership. The packs had become more disciplined and implemented some things that had also made them much more financially stable. If Daisy and I had the crown, we could do more good than harm.
But did the world really need a werewolf king and queen. I didn't know something. Maybe we could just go on as is, and if the world needed us, then we would step in. I didn't know what to think; I would need to talk to Daisy. But either way, killing the Royals off was necessary. I was happy that Prince Christan had no children. I knew that neither Daisy nor myself could kill children, and the line needed to be squashed as it was necessary. But I am glad neither of us has to do it because we couldn't go through it. It would have become a problem in 20 years, but we would not need to worry about that. I was grateful.
"So I say you kill the king, and Daisy kills the Prince Christan," David suggests. Jax adds. "Callum, it is important the two of them fall. They may try to retreat, but we can not allow either to live." "Is the queen coming?" "No, she will stay behind. She is not known for being good in battle." David says. "Will it be a problem if she is alive after all is said and done?" "No, she cannot partially shift like Daisy without her mate. She has no real power. Once she knows we were victorious, she will most likely flee." David said.
I nodded. Just then, a slight knock came from the door. "Come in." There stood my little mate. I looked at her. She was tiny. How had such a small young wolf held so much power over me and others? I knew she had been born to be a Luna. She cared so much about the Pack. She would die for them. Just as I was. I looked over her. She had all healed up from the rogue attack. "What's up, Daisy?" "I just want to let you know I am going out. I need to go to the college and pull out of classes." "Are you taking Zelda?" "Yeah, I am." I didn't want her to go out. We had just had an attack. Then again, this could be the calm before the storm.
"Okay, just stay alert." "I will do." She came up and gave me a kiss. Not caring about the others in the room. I grabbed the back of her neck. Pulling her closer to me. The kiss was hot and demanding. Both of us lip-locked. Our tongues explore each other's mouths. My hands slid to her plump ass. I honestly could take her right here. But I knew there was more to discuss. I pulled away. I looked down at her bruised lips. Giving her a soft peck. "Be careful." "I will," and as she left, I gave her a hard swat on the ass. She squealed a bit and left the room.
The guys all stared at me. "What?" Jax burst out laughing. Reid just smirked, and David was holding back a laugh. "You got it bad brother." "Shut it, David. "I have to ask Callum, do you have a hard time keeping up with her, seeing as you are so much older and she is so young." "You and I are the same age, Reid. If you think I have a stamina problem, you are projecting your problems on me." David and Jax couldn't control the eruption of laughter. "Now, what do we think happened with the rogue attack."
