Chapter 183 Untitled Chapter
Chapter 183 Untitled Chapter
They headed towards my desk where the phones were kept, and as fast as they could, they picked up the phones and hurried out of the office.
That is it! That is the only thing I needed to see. I knew that they were not to be trusted, and there we are.
My blood boiled under my skin as I headed out of the office, breathing smoke. Today, whoever is a bad egg among us will be discarded.
“Everyone!” I screamed in rage the moment I arrived at the reception area. The officers, all of them, ran out of their posts, confused.
“Detective Lizzy, what is going on?” one of them asked while others kept on exchanging glances. The one who asked, and the one next to him, see the idiots who went inside my office to steal my phone.
Surprisingly, they are the ones so close to me. They always go to places with me, like the crime scenes, investigations, court, and various places. I had no idea that they were Noah’s men and would one day betray me this way.
I wanted to disgrace them in front of the rest and reveal their secrets so they would all know the kind of people they are, but at the last minute, I had a change of mind.
What if the majority of them were working together with those two? Then they will use the opportunity to run away at that moment.
“You look angry, Detective Lizzy.”
“Follow me.” I pointed to both of them and waved to the rest to return to their duties.
As they trailed behind me, they were whispering to each other, and it wouldn't be anything other than what they did.
“Is there anything you want us to do for you, Detective Lizzy?”
Of course, a lot of it.
“Is there somewhere we are going for an investigation?”
“Can you guys just shut up and allow me to say why I called you in here?” They nodded their heads and went mute like dumb people. “Good.”
I lifted the system lid, signaled to them to come closer, and after they did, I clicked on the video to play. The moment it started playing, their gasp fell on my shoulders.
“This is bad,” the one at the left said, fanning himself with his collar. They slowly stepped away from my back, now standing far away from me.
“You know, my instinct never betrays me.” I went up and pulled out my gun from my waist. “You guys are hypocrites, and I should have known that for so long now, but I didn't. I thought you were innocent people whose only ambition is to fight against corruption, but I was wrong.” I sighed, shaking my head in disappointment.
“Now tell me everything, including when you started working for Noah and the names of all the officers working together with you.”
Their hands started trembling, and beads of sweat rolled down their forehead. “Detective Lizzy,” one of them called, stepping forward. “Now that you have caught us red-handed, I don't think there's anything we should hide from you again.”
Good for them because if they decide to lie and deny that they were the ones in the video, I will remove their frontal teeth and disfigure their faces so they will learn not to lie again.
I sat on the edge of the desk, staring at them with the gun still in my hand. ’I am listening. And just so you know, I want all the information, and nothing should be left out intentionally. If I discover that you guys left out important information or decide to hide something from me and I find out later, you know the kind of things I would do to you.”
“We started working for Mr. Noah after you solved the case involving his company two years and a few months ago.”
Ohh, wow! So it has been this long.
“That day, he came to your office with a bouquet of roses and some gifts. He called Thomas and here Asioverd offered to pay us $1 million each if we could do what he wanted us to do. At first, we were confused and wondered what kind of business he wanted us to do for him that would make him give us that huge amount of money. However, Mr. Noah didn't say anything to us on that day. He only asked for our account numbers and our contact information.”
“When we were off duty that day,” Thomas chipped in. “We received an alert of $1 million from Mr. Noah, followed by a call from him, telling us to meet him in his penthouse. We are weak, confused, and scared, Detective Lizzy. We had no choice but to go to his penthouse to hear what he wanted us to do for him.”
“And because it involved money, you guys decided to keep it to yourself and not report to me when you basically knew that I hated Noah at that moment, right?”
I can't believe he used those tactics to lure them into his evil business.
“I personally was so scared and wanted to report it to you, but Thomas insisted we keep the money and do whatever Mr. Noah wants us to do. And because I was in desperate need of money, my mind softened to his whisper, and I found myself following him to Mr. Noah's penthouse the next day.”
“You can't blame me!” Thomas snapped at him, “I never forced you to keep that money. You could have returned them when Mr. Noah gave us the chance to do so. Have you already forgotten that Mr. Noah told us to return the money and keep quiet if we don't want to work with him?”
“Sometimes, you think like a toddler whose brain hasn't developed fully. Were you so dumb that Mr. Noah would let us leave the penthouse alive if we decided to give him back the money on that day? He would have gotten us killed to silence us because he has already informed us of the kind of business we will be doing for him.”
Ohh, yes. That is so true. This other guy doesn't know that those evil people will never let them see the light of day ever again if they reject their offers. But it should have been so easy for them to slip off Noah's hand if they had reported it to me. Anyway, that is none of my business; all that is in the past now. I only want them to say one thing: like what kind of business they were doing for Noah.
“You can save your argument for later because you will have all the time you need in this world to do that while you are in prison. Now tell me the kind of business you were doing for Noah Dominic.”
