Chapter 181 Untitled Chapter
Chapter 181 Untitled Chapter
“What are you doing?” I picked up the syringe containing a strange yellow liquid and showed it to her. But she didn't say a word; she was only trying to bypass me to run out of the room.
“Were you trying to kill my daughter?” I blocked her way.
“I…no I was just doing my job,” she protested in a trembling voice.
But no, I don't buy that. If she was doing her job, why did she get scared when she saw me? Why is she trembling? And why is she trying to run away from the room??
“I urge you to speak the truth right now, or I will force you.”
I swiftly pulled out the gun from my waist and pointed it at her. She screamed, dropped to her knees, and swung her hand over her head.
“Please do not shoot; I will tell you the truth,” she cried, waving her hand.
“Then speak, you idiot!”
My baby fought death, yet they don't want her to live? Whatever it is, I know Noah is behind this.
He doesn't know I have already found out he is behind the missing women’s disappearance, and he must be afraid that Sophia will let me know when she wakes up.
“It was the doctor who ordered me to inject her with poison.”
The doctor?
“Which doctor, you imbecile!”
“Detective Lizzy, what is going on?” The officer barged in. And when he saw me pointing the gun at the lady, he pulled out his gun too.
“Never mind, I can handle this.” I waved him off. “And you?” I turned towards her.
“Doctor Felix. It was he who gave me the order,”
What! Felix? Again?
Wasn't he the one who said he had regretted lying to me earlier on? And now he is trying to kill my daughter.
Is he doing this again because Noah threatened him?
“If I find out you are lying to me, you are finished.”
“I swear I am not lying to you. It was Dr. Felix who ordered me to inject her yesterday. And because I wasn't on duty at night, I decided to do it this morning. I am innocent; he forced me to do it. He said he will give me a million dollars and also promote me.”
No, he didn't force her; it was her greed for worldly things that made her do it.
“Congratulations, you have booked yourself a room in the headquarters.” I snapped my fingers, and the officer came in again.
“Escort her to the headquarters!” He nodded his head, reached for her wrist, and dragged her out of the office.
Thankfully, she hasn't succeeded in injecting my poor, innocent baby. Sighs. What a wicked world. Even in the hospitals, nobody is safe anymore. I wonder how many people lost their lives at the hands of these doctors and nurses just because someone paid them to kill another person.
They think it is so simple because they know the things to do to stop their hearts from beating.
No problem, they have just given me a heads-up, and right now, hospitals will become a part of the places I put my eyes on.
I placed my hand on my baby’s forehead, sighed deeply, and kissed her. “I am so sorry you are going through all this, Sophia. I promise to always be by your side no matter what.”
And to teach Felix a lesson, I stepped out of the room, locked it, put the keys inside my pocket, and headed to his office.
When I arrived there, he was attending to a patient, so I waited until the patient had left.
“What is it, Detective Lizzy? Has Sophia opened her eyes?”
The way he looked so concerned baffled me. “No, she hasn't. But her face looked pale. Can you go check her out for me?”
The idiot should have noticed that something was off by the way I was talking and looking at him. But because he was busy acting like the doctor who loves and cares for his patient, he didn't.
“My goodness!” he exclaimed in shock, getting up from the chair. “This is an emergency,” he hung his stethoscope around his neck and hurried out of the office, leaving me there.
I followed him and found him turning the door handle over and over again. “Who locked this door?” he fumed, “or did it get stuck inside?” he jiggled the doorknob repeatedly, but it didn't open.
“I did.” I pulled out the keys, waving them in his face.
“But, why? This place is safe. No one can come in here to hurt Sophia. You've got to calm down, Detective Lizzy. Sophia is in a safe place.”
Oh, really? So funny that I want to burst into laughter.
“Nowhere is safe, Felix, and this hospital,” I looked at him in mischief and unlocked the door. “You can go in.”
He didn't say another word, but he looked like he was getting a hint of what was happening.
When I entered the room, I shut the door and folded my arms, leaning on the door.
“But her face isn't pale, and she is breathing fine. Even though the machine is working fine, which means her heart is beating normally.”
“So you are disappointed that she is still alive, right?” I tilted my head, my right brow raised. “What do you mean by that, Detective Lizzy? I am a doctor, and I am happy that nothing has happened to her. There is no way I would be excited when my patient is in…”
“Cut the crap, Felix!” I thundered at him, stepping away from the door. “What did I tell you at the parking lot earlier? Didn't I say I forgave you that time, but if you try another shit with me, I won't forgive you?”
“Y…yes, you did say that. But…but I haven't done anything again, Detective Lizzy. And I don't know what you are driving at.”
“Oh, you will know now.” I pulled out the syringe from my pocket, and the moment his eyes fell on it, his jaw dropped, and his eyes widened in shock.
However, he quickly acted normally and proceeded to ask me what I was holding.
“The poison you gave to the nurse to inject my daughter.”
“What!” he exclaimed, “poison? Why would you lie against me that way, Lizzy? That is unprofessional. Do you think I am a monster to kill my patient? Even if I am given all the money in this world, I will never do anything as stupid as that.”
“Spare me the details, dude. I caught the nurse red-handed, and right now, she is being escorted to the headquarters. Congratulations to you, Felix; you have been promoted to a doctor in hell. When you get there, they will be excited to have a doctor in their midst.” I cracked up, laughing evilly.
“And don't you dare resist!” I warned him as I walked towards him with handcuffs.
As soon as I had cuffed him on his back, the officer whom I sent to the headquarters to get my phone entered.
“I searched everywhere, but couldn't find the phones.”
