Chapter 175 Untitled Chapter

Chapter 175 Untitled Chapter
Instead of the prison, I took Amy to the guest room to avoid letting the officers at the headquarters know that she was arrested. I don't want them to know. I still do not trust them. They will end up informing Noah if they see her. Luckily, they didn't see when the officers from the other division brought her to the headquarters.

Throughout the night, I didn't sleep. I stayed awake, calling that number repeatedly, hoping it would go through. I wasn't going to give up; I had promised to stay wide awake even for days unless I got access to that number.

And at around 3 am, the call went through as soon as I dialed the number.

“Mr. Noah? Why is your other number not going through? I have been calling you since yesterday, but I can't get through to you. Please, I need your help. That little monster has been causing a lot of nuisance. I don't know how she did it, but she broke out of the inner room earlier on. Also, she hasn't eaten anything for hours, and she wants to see her mummy. Mr. Noah, are you there? Can you hear me?”

As tears streamed down my face, I tightened my lips to avoid any sound from coming out.

“Mr. Noah? Gosh! This thing is acting up again,” he hissed loudly and ended the call.

I didn't call again; there was no need to. I have gotten what I want. I wiped my tears, snuffled, and turned to the officer who was sitting in front of the desk, with a PC in front of him on the desk.

“Did you find the location?” He nodded his head, his eyes still fixed on the computer. Then he clicked a keyboard, lifted his head, and sighed.

“Finally, Detective Lizzy.”

Yes, finally! I have finally found my daughter. My precious baby.

“Where is it?” I got up, opening the drawer where I store my guns.

“Here,” he turned the PC towards me. “But don't you think we should wait until daybreak?”

Absolutely not. We should make hay while the sun shines. I have found my daughter, and I should bring her home as soon as possible so she can receive treatment and bounce back to her normal self.

Only God knows the amount of trauma they have inflicted on that girl. I just hope they did nothing stupid to her, because if they did, I would do worse than they have done to her.

“Get up, dude. We are leaving now. But if you are tired and don't want to go now, you can rest.”

No need to push him into doing what he doesn't want to do. After all, he has tried so much for me. He stayed up all night just to track down the occasion of that number in case they call. He didn't even blink; he didn't talk me out of it, he encouraged me, and he also told me the words that could calm my mind.

“Nah, I must go. Sophia is our baby. And I can't wait to get ahold of that dude who has her in his custody. Please, Detective Lizzy, while we are there, do not stop me from beating that dude.”

I won't stop him because I will do the same thing he wants to do. Perhaps more than that.

We left the office at 3:45 am and drove out of the headquarters. And at 4:10 am, we arrived at the estate since there was no traffic yet.

For days now, I have been driving past this estate and didn't know that Sophia was in there.

Sophia would have been found, since if I were smart enough to enter all the estates in this town, searching for her, I wouldn't have wasted time going around all the estates, because this would be the first one.

But who would have even thought that kidnap victims would be hidden in the estates? Perhaps I should start searching all the estates whenever a missing person is reported again.

“What is the apartment number?” I asked as soon as I drove inside the estate. He looked at the screen again and told me.

I drove down the empty street until we arrived in front of the apartment having the same number. I could swear nothing interesting was going on in that apartment, and only normal people were living there, if not for the fact that our tracking led us there.

We got out of the car, and I pulled out my gun as we stepped on the porch.

The officer knocked on the door, but we got no response, and then I decided to call the number again to be sure the person hadn't run away from the estate.

“Mr. Noah? I just heard a knock on the door. Is that you?” He whispered into the phone as soon as he answered the call. He sounded so scared, and from the background, I could hear my baby’s cry.

It was so confusing because, where we stood by the door, we could hear Sophia’s voice. And it can only mean one thing: they installed voice proofing in the room.

“Open the door, dude, it's me.”

I didn't know that the officer had grabbed the phone from my hand until his voice broke me out of my reverie. That didn't sit well with me, and it provoked me. He doesn't have Noah’s voice, and I am sure that the criminal would realize it and would know that he is in danger.

I seized the phone from him angrily, “Why did you do that?” I scolded, whispering. “You don't sound like Noah. Why would you take the phone from my hand?”

“I am sorry; I just wanted to help,” he whispered back in concern. “I know how to mimic voices, Detective Lizzy. Let's hand over the phone and see how I perform this magic. If I don't do it well, punish me.”

He grabbed the phone from me again without my consent. “I swear if you mess up, I will deal with you.”

I folded my arms, watching him dial the number again.

“Are you nuts? I am in a hurry, dude. Open that door now!” he whispered in an angry tone.

Noah doesn't sound that way; he doesn't use insulting words. I just hope this guy knows what he is doing.

“Can you knock so I can know it's you?” the guy asked from the other end. Without hesitating, the officer knocked, and unfortunately, that didn't work.

“I mean our signature knock, Mr. Noah. I just want to be sure it is you.”

“Can you just…”

I signaled to him to keep quiet when something crept into my head. I know Noah’s signature knock. I once overheard him teaching it to Sophia when she was three. They have also been using it around the house.

I stepped forward, took in a deep breath, and prayed it would work. And I go: knock, double knock, and knock.

Then came a rattling sound from the keyhole, and the door was unlocked.
