Chapter 173 Untitled Chapter
Chapter 173 Untitled Chapter
“Although we didn't find anything suspicious in the rooms, we found this phone.”
He handed me a phone, one of the phones that was with Noah at the hospital. I have never seen him with. Great! Now I can check this phone too and get things from it.
But wait a second. Did Noah leave it on purpose because he had deleted all the things in it? Or did he forget to take the phone along with him?
“And this, too, detective. This phone seems suspicious. We found it hidden inside Mr. Noah’s closet, beneath his pile of shirts.”
I haven't seen Noah with this phone either. Why does he have so many phones? And why is this one hidden in the closet? What on earth is Noah up to?
“Keep searching the house; I am sure you will find something interesting.”
As soon as they left, I sat on the sofa, turning the phones over, wondering which one I should go with first. They both look suspicious, looking at the way they were found.
“Can we go now, Ma’am?” The maids interrupted. I waved them off without raising my head, and after their footsteps had faded, I got the idea of which phone to start with.
I turned on the first phone that was given to me, and the moment it went on, a call came in as if the person had been waiting for the phone to be turned on.
“Mr. Noah? There is a huge problem. Can you come over to the estate as soon as possible? That little girl cant talk; she is…”
Beep!
I don't know what happened, but he disconnected the call. Maybe he realized it wasn't Noah he was talking to.
But what little girl was he talking about? And what estate? As far as I know, Noah doesn't have a wife, nor does he have a child. How on earth did they get the little girl they were talking about?
Could the girl be Sophia?
“Detective Lizzy? Look at this.”
One of the officers interrupted my thought, handing over a file to me. I set the phones on the center table, still having the thought about the little girl who was mentioned on the phone earlier.
“I found this inside Mr. Noah’s study room. It was hidden between a pile of books on the shelf.”
The moment I flipped the pages, and my eyes fell on the content written on the paper, my life flashed before my eyes.
It was a business agreement contract between Noah and a business partner. However, I would have ignored it and focused on another thing, but the business partner is none other than CCocoka, the late notorious criminal.
Now it is all making sense. Noah has been doing business with him. No wonder he tried all he could to talk me out of taking Cocoka’s case. This is the most shocking thing I have ever seen.
Noah Dominic, my ex-boyfriend. I can't believe this. So the rumors about him are all true. I just hope no one points fingers at me by the time I bring him to justice. I pray they don't say I have a hand in the business, too, because my ex-boyfriend is into the business.
They don't know yet that Noah and I broke up long ago and that I am only pretending to like him now so I can get closer to him and get the things I want from him.
And now that I am getting them, it is time to get his stupid butt back to this city. Noah must not slip off my hands, and he must not know that I have found dirt on him. He belongs to the prison together with Raymond the judge and all the ministers.
“This is so confusing, Detective Lizzy. Mr. Noah doesn't look like a criminal.” He paused, looked at me, and sighed. “I am so sorry for saying that,,”
Sorry, for what exactly did he say the truth? No offense taken, dude. After all, Noah and I are no longer together.
“It’s fine,” I sighed deeply, getting up from the sofa.
“Should we give a call across to the headquarters in the next town so they can arrest Mr. Noah when the plane lands there?”
“No,” I answered quickly. “Do not do that. None of you should even allow anyone to know about this. Not yet.”
“Why, Detective Lizy? Is it because Mr. Is Noah your boyfriend? You have been arresting criminals for so long now. And no matter who they are, you get them in prison and also make sure they are taken to the court for trial. You also arrested the woman who raised you, and she and her daughter are only waiting for their time to be shot to death or hanged to death.”
What da!
“How dare you accuse me of that, idiot?” I glared, clenching my fingers in a fist. “What do you take me for, a fool who doesn't know what she is doing? How dare you bring up Maureen and Elena here now? The audacity!”
“I am so sorry, Detective Lizzy. I swear I didn't mean it that way. It was a slip of the tongue.”
A slip of the tongue? Then he can go straight to another place to do that nonsense.
“Get out of here, dude; you are no longer needed. And before you go, hand over your gun to your leader; you are suspended for two weeks.”
“What!” he exclaimed shockingly, gasping in between. “Yes, you heard me. Or do you want to insult me before you go?”
“Absolutely not, Detective Lizzy. Please do not suspend me. I'm sorry for saying that. Seriously, I will never say it again. Forgive me.”
“Hand over that gun!” I snapped at him, showing him my palms.
“And when you are out there, and you make a mistake of informing anyone about who Noah is, you will lose your job, and I will have your license seized.”
“Please do not do this to me. I swear I have learned my lesson. I understand what you are trying to do. You don't want to make this public yet because you want him to return and fall into your hands.”
Oh, so he knows.
“You are lucky this time, dude. The next time you do this, I will not listen to your plea.”
Hmm, about this phone. I still want to know about the little girl that guy was talking about earlier on.
Wait a second, I know that number. Wasn't it the number that called, and I spoke with Sophia?
