Chapter 172 Untitled Chapter

Chapter 172 Untitled Chapter
What is going on here? Didn't this girl leave this town the day she came to apologize to me at my house? What is she still doing in Noah's house? And she isn't even dressed like a maid; she looks like the mistress of the house.

As soon as our eyes met, her eyes started blinking nervously. She spun towards the door, ready to run back inside, but I called her back. She thought she would escape from here? No way.

“What brought you to this house? Didn't you say you were leaving that day and would never return to this town again?”

She didn't say a word, nor did she make eye contact with me. Noah is indeed a liar. I can't believe I once trusted someone like him. Gosh!

“You know? Arrest this girl and lock her in prison.” I don't trust her either. “I did nothing. Why would you tell the officer to arrest me?” She argued, trying to escape, but there was no single space for her to pass through.

“Hell no, you did, bby girl. Lying to me is the biggest sin that one could ever commit. And now that you have been found in the house of a suspect, that makes you a suspect too.”

“Mr. Noah? Do you know what you are talking about, Detective Lizzy? He isn't the kind of person you can just suspect. You and Mr. Nohave been together for years now, and you should know better the kind of person he is.”

“Really? Did I come here to seek your opinion?” I glared at the officer whom I had ordered to take her away earlier on. “What are you still doing there? Take her away!”

“I am sorry,” he apologized, grabbed her hand, and pulled her away. “This isn't right,” she cried as the officer dragged her towards the car. But whoever chairs this, the girl and Moon are trying to make a fool out of me, and I will show them that I am not a stupid person for them to turn around the way they want it.

That day, he brought her to my house in order for her to apologize to me; something in me felt like they were toying with my heart. I felt it. I definitely knew that we were up to something. He wouldn't just bring her to my place and tell her to confess that nothing is going on between them.

Didn't she say she was leaving the town that day? So what is she still doing in this town and inside Noah's? Well, whatever it is that is between them, I will find out today after interrogating her.

“What are you guys still doing out here? Go inside and start investigating all the rooms. I want every piece of furniture in this house to be turned upside down if the need arises. Now, go.”

They nodded their heads and hurried inside the apartment. A few minutes later, after I was done with what I was doing on my phone, I went inside the apt too, to see what they were doing. In the living room, the maid is kneeling on the floor, trembling.

“Detective Lizzy,” one among them called, getting off the floor. “What is happening? The officers are all over the place, Detective. Is anything wrong with Mr. Noah? He left the house a few minutes ago. Did he encounter an accident?”

“Nothing is wrong with Noah. And we are here for investigation. So, you guys should stand aside and let the officers do their jobs. Also, the officers will escort you guys to the headquarters because there is something you must answer me about Noah and that lady.”

They live in the same house with them, and I am sure that there is nothing going on between Noah and that lady that the maids wouldn't know.

“You mean Amy?” one of the girls asked, pointing towards the door as if that same lady was standing there. “Yes,” I nodded, and surprisingly, they scoffed.

“What do you want to know about, Amy, Detective Lizzy?” the girl who looked older than the rest asked. “Why do you think she asked, Hannah? Have you forgotten she is Mr. Noah’s girlfriend, whom he would propose to anytime soon?”

Silly. Is that what Noah told them? Well, bad news. No one is proposing to me, not even a suspect, who I have a strong feeling is a criminal.

“Are you sure you want to know about this, Detective Lizzy?”

“Seriously, yes. Just spill it already. The officers are waiting for me. I have lots of work to do.”

“Well,” they exchanged concerned glances and sighed at once as if they had practiced for it. “Amy has been living here for weeks now. After you sent her out of your house, she returned here and has been living with Mr. Noah in his room.”

His room?

Those words pierced my heart like a needle. Has Amy been staying in his room? Gosh! This is the most painful thing ever.

I am not pained that he was living with her or that she lived in his room; I am only upset that I was lied to and I believed it. Amy and Noah have no idea who they are dealing with. They cannot make a fool out of me and think they can get away with it. For lying to me, they will regret it.

“I overheard them a few days ago, discussing going to your place and apologizing. I don't know what they meant by that, but apparently, they were talking about gaining your trust over something.”

Gaining my trust? Does this mean they have been targeting me all this while, and they are working together?

If Noah and Amy turn out to be business partners, then there is fire in the mountain.

Unable to swallow the bitter words the maids were saying about the maid and Noah, I decided to leave. However, they said something that halted me.

“Mr. Noah picked her up a few days ago, and when I asked where she was going with him, she said she was going to babysit Sophia. Detective Lizzy? The way she said it sounded suspicious. I am afraid to say, but Amy must know where Sophia is.”

“Detective Lizzy?” An officer called from the stairs while I was still trying to process what the maid had just said.

“Come take a look at this, ma’am. We found something that might interest you.”
