Chapter 171: Untitled Chapter

I don't get it. Noah is already gone? How? This is still 6 am, and we agreed yesterday that I would go to the airport with him. Hmmm. Something is definitely fishy.

“We have called your line several times, but it didn’t connect. It kept saying your phone was off, which was unlike you. We even thought something bad had happened to you.”

Omg! This is bad. And it is my phone’s fault.

Well, I think it is nothing to worry about. Me escorting Noah to the airport is just to be sure that he has left before proceeding to his house. And now that it is obvious he is gone, it is time to start my job.

“Where are you guys now?” I asked, phone pinned between my ear and neck, while tying my hair in a bun.

“At the division. Do you need our service now?’

Absolutely. “I need a team of you at Noah’s mansion as soon as possible. When you get there, do not make a scene; just wait for me, and no matter what, do not allow anyone to go out of the mansion.”

“Yes, ma’am.”

As I ended the call, a mischievous grin curled up my lips. Noah is in big trouble if I find anything in his house.

Speaking of the devil, his call came in.

“What happened to your phone, Lizzy?” he asked, sounding so worried over the phone. But deep down, I know he wasn't worried for real; that was all pretense.

Noah cannot fool me anymore.

“My phone has been turned off since yesterday. Why did you leave without even caring to stop by the headquarters? The headquarters is where you passed to go to the airport.”

“Yes, and I am so sorry about it. Lizzy, I am in so much pain. You should have seen my leg; it had swollen like a balloon.”

For real?

“And I couldn’t walk properly, so we decided to go straight to the airport so we can reach our destination on time and have the surgery done as soon as possible.”

“Okay, then. Tell me. What is the name of the country you are going to? I would like to visit you after the surgery to check up on how your leg is responding to treatment.”

Not to actually check up on him but to know where he went to so that it will be so easy to arrest him when he is found guilty.

“Umm. I don't think it is necessary that you come to the city. You have a lot of work to do at the town. Also, you still haven't found Sophia, and you are on the case.”

That isn't an excuse. It isn't like I will go see him; I just want to be sure of where he went to.

“Telling me the name of that place isn't a big deal, Noah.”

“Of course it is. Do not worry, Lizzy; I will be fine and return to you in good health.”

Pfft. Who cares if he returns in good health or not? Anyway, since he doesn't want to tell me, then it is fine. I would rather go to his mansion and start the investigation instead of wasting time on the phone with him.

“OK, that is fine with me. I wish you a successful surgery, and please take good care of yourself for me. In case you are in need of anything, do not hesitate to give me a call; I will always be available to tend to your needs.”

“Thanks so much, Lizzy. You're the best. I love you so much.”

“Same,” I rolled my eyes uninterestedly and disconnected the call.

I slide the phone inside my pocket and enter the car.

“Detective Lizzy.” One of the officers called, running towards the parking lot. “Are you going out?”

Do I look like I am coming in? What sort of question is that? If there is anything he wants to say, then he should say it instead of asking the obvious.

“It seems like you are about to go out. Can I find some officers to come with you?”

“No, I am not interested. There are a lot of things in the headquarters that you guys should keep an eye on. If I need anything, I will give you guys a call to meet me wherever I am.”

I shut the door, kick-started the engine, and drove out of the headquarters, leaving him standing in the parking lot, jaw dropped.

On my way to Noah’s mansion, my mind drifted to the information in my phone. I was so eager to look into it, but I was driving, and it was going to take away my attention, and if that happens, an accident will occur.

So, I focused on driving since the phone will not develop legs and run away.

Outside the mansion, the officers were all over the place. Some were standing in front of the gate, others were walking around carrying guns, while some of them were leaning on the patrol cars.

As soon as they saw my car, they gathered in one place and bowed their heads slightly. “Good morning, Detective Lizzy.” They chorused, their voices echoing as if they were singing on the altar.

“Have you guys gone inside the mansion all right?”

“Not yet, Detective Lizzy. We have been waiting for you to arrive and give us the order.”

Well, now that I am here, the investigation can start. Noah has fallen into my hands today, and I feel so good that I am going to search his mansion.

“There are so many rooms in this mansion, so you guys will have to divide yourselves into multiple groups so that the work will be fast and much easier.”

“Yes, Detective Lizzy. Since you know everywhere in this mansion, can you lead the way, please?”

I know that my head is smiling mischievously. It will be my honor to take them around the house to find everything we are here for.

As the officers stepped inside the gate with me, the security guy at the gates, the butler, and the maids who were outside were all shocked.

“Do not panic,” I said, trying to assure them that everything was under control. And the moment I turned to the left to tell the officers to go inside the apartment, the lady whom I suspected was having an affair with Noah stepped out of the apartment dressed in a skimpy red gown with heavy makeup on her face, holding a trolley in her left hand.
