Born to be a Queen

Born to be a Queen
Alea's POV

They all didn't object because they knew even if they did, it wasn't like I was going to listen.

The meeting ended and I went back to my chamber which was given to me, sitting on my bed, I couldn't concentrate as it looked like something was calling me over, my head was banging and I thought I was hearing the talking relics talk again, or maybe I imagined it.

It was giving me directions to the relics room which I already knew. I knew Raven said the place was harmful, and that I shouldn't be there but I couldn't help it. I stood up, heading outside. I was like a kid sneaking away after stealing candy.

I was cautious of being seen by anyone and even in front of the huge stone door in front of me, I checked my sides for any onlookers before I pushed the door open.

I made my way to the relics room, and there the talking relics was, laughing so loud I became quite afraid that people might hear it.

“I didn't think you would come just because I called you” It laughed again, getting me surprised.

“You called me? How powerful are you exactly?” I was supposed to hate myself for talking to an object like I was crazy, but it wasn't just an ordinary object. The object could talk and I couldn't help my curiosity.

“You weren't meant to be just Luna, you were born to be a Queen” The voice said, so loud that I had to close my ears shut. It didn't stop, but kept saying the words, each time the echo more clearer than the last one.

I started moving back as the building cracked like the walls were going to close down on me.

“Queen….meant to be a Queen” Those words kept getting in my head and instead of me running out, I moved closer to the Pale Oracle, hesitating for a while but ended up touching it.

My hand touched it, and even though Raven had told me they harm people, it didn't hurt me. Nothing happened to me.

I breathed out a sigh, withdrawing my hand almost immediately.

“Do you think nothing will happen to me if I touch the Obsidian Heart like I had done to you?” I asked, wanting to confide in what the pale Oracle will say.

“I'm different from the Pale Oracle. I allowed you to touch me and that's why you aren't hurt yet. But with the Obsidian Heart, it's different. If you are not a descendant of the high priestess, you will never be able to live after touching the Obsidian Heart” The pale Oracle said, and I heaved a sigh.

“Hurry out, the Elder himself is on his way. If he meets you in here, he will seal this door away from your reach for good” He said, and that scared me.

“How do you know that?” I asked, when I was supposed to begin running out of the room, if he was actually telling the truth.

“It's what I see. That's why I'm the PALE ORACLE” It said, the last words echoing in the room.

“Okay, I will leave” I said, and dashed out of the relics room into the empty room used as a cover before I dashed out to the hallway. Immediately I got to the hallway, I sighted the Elder walking towards the room and I quickly hid behind a wall while he entered.

My heart was beating so fast, as I couldn't help but think about the pale Oracle again, that little thing could foresee the future.

The night ended and soon morning came.

Sage and Raven came to me the moment I came out to eat breakfast with the others.

“Alea…..about the Obsidian Heart,” Raven paused, and I knew I was going to shut them up if they were going to talk to me against it. Sage took it up, ending Raven's speech.

“I think we should investigate it first instead of risking life unnecessarily. Who knows? We could be able to find the descendant of the high priestess” Sage said, and without even having to think about it, I knew they were right.

I must have been so stupid to give up so easily on my life without thinking about Kairo, without thinking about the pains it will cause the people around me. So foolish.

“Thank you guys. I think we should do exactly that” I smiled and we then marched to the dining hall where everyone was already seated waiting for just a few of the rest of the residents.

We settled down and before we could even eat, the Elder brought a matter up.

“A particular person has been going in and out of the forbidden room lately” the Elder said, and with the way some people were surprised and murmurs filled the air, I could tell many didn't even know about the relics room.

“This forbidden room is limited to many, and unauthorized people who go in there may end up dead. This serves as a warning to all unauthorized residents, do not go beyond where you can reach, else you could die here in the refugee camp without an enemy's attack” The words were supposed to engrave fear in me, but they didn't, because I knew I was some kind of exception.

Not many signs had been seen, but a part of me just knows that I was an exception to these rules.

Raven's eyes caught mine immediately the Elder finished his speech and with the way he looked at me, I could tell he knows, that the one person who had gone inside the relics room again was none other than me.

He stared at me with so much venom that I couldn't help but swallow hard.

The guy was sometimes unreadable, sometimes he looked friendly and humble to a fault, but most times, he looked like he could kill with his gaze, like he doesn't trust me.

But not even his glare is enough to stop me, ALEA. The Phantom Queen.
