Her Mother
Her Mother
Alea's POV
Sage and Raven helped investigate the matters concerning the Obsidian Heart, and the high priestess from then. Walking with them through the chamber the high priestess was said to have lived, I felt a strange sense of familiarity.
It was said the rooms in the chamber hadn't been used for years because they believed that the high priestess or her daughter might come back one day, so they just had it cleaned. Apparently, the high priestess wasn't just a high priestess, she was the most respected person in their world—their savior, their queen.
Sage found a belonging of the high priestess whose name was Nara, a Jade ring which was also strangely familiar. Heck! Everything about the space felt familiar, it didn't feel foreign to me and I would have loved to take my time to explore the rooms if I had the time.
The Elder examined the Jade ring and smiled when he saw it.
“We had intentionally kept this Jade ring in that room for when the owner will come to take it” The Elder said. “The owner?” I couldn't help but ask, because surely the high priestess must be dead.
How many years has it been? She couldn't possibly be alive, could she?
“Yes, the owner. The descendant of Nara” The Elder said and I sighed. We don't even know if the child is also alive or had met a tragic fate years ago.
I studied the Jade ring which was in the Elder's hands, and saw that it looked more like a pair, like it wasn't complete without its second piece.
“Elder, why is the ring like that?” I asked, referring to the dent that shows that it's a pair.
“It's one solid Jade ring, but Nara had split it apart into two to mark her daughter when she sensed that danger was coming. She knew the child being the Queen's daughter would surely face danger because of her.
She didn't want to lose her daughter, or in any circumstances not be able to recognize her, so she marked her with the same Jade ring she cherished the most.
My heart beat so fast, memories from my childhood making me nervous.
Jade ring. Marked. They all seem familiar, so familiar that I don't want to believe it could be true.
“By mark, you mean….?” I asked, not finishing the sentence because I knew he already knew what I was asking.
“Yes. The other half of the ring was engraved into her body” He said.
Heart thumbed. Faster.
“Can I…..hold it for a moment?” I stuttered, with my lips quivering.
The Elder stretched the ring out to me and I took it nervously. The moment my hands touched the ring, I felt a sharp pain surge through my whole body as I whimpered in pain, squeezing my eyes shut. I opened my eyes, not because the pain had left me, but because there was a bright light shining through my body, my arm to be precise.
I glanced at it, shocked.
Everyone in the room was shocked, with Raven and Sage wondering what the hell was wrong with me.
The Elder stood up from his seat as he walked to me with a shocked expression. He shifted my sleeves backward in a hurry without even asking me if he could. There it was, where the bright light came from.
The engravement of a Jade ring in my skin, the sudden light it had shown because of the merging of the two. They were a pair.
I was the descendant of the High priestess, the Queen and their Savior, Nara.
The realization shocked me beyond control. I was the descendant we had been talking about?
Then I remembered the pale Oracle and what he had said to me. “That I was born to be a Queen”
I gasped.
Then my gaze turned to the people in front of me and the Elder quickly fell to his knees making my eyes widen in shock. I couldn't hold him up, I was so shocked that I froze.
Sage and Raven and also did the same, and my lips parted in disbelief. I wanted to tell them not to make things weirder than they already were but I just couldn't utter a word.
“The only descendant of the Queen, Nara. Please accept the Elder's greetings” He said, bowing deeply while on his knees. “Please accept our greetings” The others too chorused and I blinked.
“Please rise” I managed to say, my hands bringing the Elder up while I left Sage and Raven to help themselves up.
It was becoming so real when it was just so surreal. I was the descendant they had searched for for years, the descendant who can put an end to Alucard's tyranny.
I wasn't just a runaway Luna, or a rebel planning an attack on the one who had almost turned my life upside down, I was the descendant of Nara. I was born a Queen.
I had seen my arm lit up like this twice or thrice, when I was still a little kid who had no memories of this place, no memories of my mother or how she looks like, or what her name even is, but here I'm finding out that the high priestess, Nara, is my mother, the woman I never got to meet.
But now isn't the time to talk about what I had lost and what I had gained, now is the time to put what I gained to use before Alucard goes out of control.
“We had been looking for you everywhere, Queen. And I had never given up on finding you, I had always believed that you would come back to us, be our savior like your mother had been” The Elder said.
The joy in his face, like one that would always be found on the face of a father who had found his long lost daughter.
“Not Queen, Elder. Alea. Nothing changes just because I'm the descendant. Not to you” I told him, and that put a smile on his face.
“My mother……tell me about my mother” I stuttered. I had never cared about who my parents really were after I learned that the people I know as family weren't my family, all I believed was that my real parents must have abandoned me. Apparently, it doesn't look like they did.
