Chapter 45: Speak Frankly

Chapter 45: Speak Frankly

Several bodyguards directly kicked Adam out without any courtesy. They didn't care about Adam's status at all - they were Noah's men, and in this area, probably no one could surpass the power and position of the Stone family!

That was a truly powerful family with connections everywhere. The Hart family was also a wealthy and prestigious household. Only an idiot like Adam would still think Emily came from some ordinary background.

"You just wait!"

Before leaving, Adam didn't forget to viciously throw out some threats, but all he got in return was mocking laughter from the bodyguards.

Adam was in a complete mess right now and could only leave in embarrassment and disgrace.

All of this was just what he deserved - he had no one to blame but himself.

"Are you okay?"

At Noah's booth, Emily sat beside him looking upset, while Noah looked at her with concern.

Emily shook her head. "I'm fine. I just didn't expect that crazy guy to suddenly attack me, otherwise I definitely could have handled him."

"It's okay, as long as you're alright."

Noah comforted her softly. He didn't want to hear Emily mention Adam's name anymore.

Unfortunately, he was an important part of Emily's past, and probably not so easy to cut off.

Even though Noah sometimes felt so jealous he could go crazy, he still had to keep telling himself there was no need to get that angry.

He didn't want to put any pressure on Emily. After all, she had only just started trying to take a step forward and accept him. He didn't want to break this hard-won understanding between them.

"Do you men get easily fooled by fake women?"

Emily felt awkward and was just making conversation. She actually wasn't that familiar with Noah, but thinking about their few interactions, she felt he was a very reliable man.

However, there were some things she still wanted to clarify.

"Maybe we're not as sharp as you girls, but I think those cheap tricks don't work on some people at all. It's just that some men, relying on their status, don't pay attention to boundaries. You could even say they deliberately enjoy the feeling of different women fighting over them."

Noah said coldly, not defending men just because he was one himself. "Given my position, countless women want to get close to me. I've seen all kinds of tactics - how could I not tell them apart?"

"Not just in relationships - it's the same at work. Old employees often clash with new ones. Some people deliberately act pitiful to gain sympathy, when actually they're the ones in the wrong. But if someone's biased, they'll keep them around even when they're wrong."

"This has nothing to do with anything else. Ordinary people can see through those cheap tricks at a glance. They just pretend not to understand because they're the ones benefiting, enjoying others' attention and pleading. They probably find it very satisfying."

Emily was absolutely shocked. This was probably the most Noah had ever talked to her, and every word hit home.

Every single word and sentence made perfect sense and spoke to her heart.

Exactly! How could men not see through those homewreckers' fake tricks? They just pretend not to understand.

She felt much better, but still couldn't help explaining, "What happened today was purely accidental. I had no idea he'd be at the bar too."

"I know, I believe you."

Noah said without hesitation. That one sentence warmed her to her bones.

She was willing to trust Noah once. She felt he wouldn't be like that trash Adam, casually cheating on someone.

"By the way, Adam is really an arrogant and irrational man. What he said - none of it was true."

Emily suddenly remembered something and quickly added, "I really stopped liking him a long time ago. Now when I see him or talk to him, I just feel disgusted! Him deliberately pulling at me like that was just meant to disgust me. I'm so angry I could die!"

Hearing this, Noah didn't say anything, just nodded quietly.

No matter what he did, he couldn't erase that part of Emily's memories, so the experience of Emily having liked Adam would never disappear.

Earlier, when he heard Adam so confidently accusing Emily of being unreasonable, he was indeed upset, as if everything Emily did was just to get Adam's attention.

He naturally couldn't accept or tolerate that, but he could never bring himself to question Emily about it.

He didn't expect her to explain first. She said she would never like that trash Adam again.

He believed her and was willing to wait until she completely dealt with those bad memories before she turned around and took his hand.

Because he would always stand where Emily could see him, waiting for her. Whenever she wanted to look back at him, he would be there.

"I'm not really in the mood to hang out anymore. I'm going to head home - I'm kind of tired too."

After explaining, Emily felt a bit lighter, but staying in this environment made her uncomfortable. She just wanted to go home and rest.

"Okay, I'll have someone take you."

This time Emily didn't refuse. She wanted to try accepting Noah's kindness.

After leaving, Emily didn't forget to call Freya. Today was really unexpected. Although Freya was a bit disappointed, she said she understood.

"Find out Adam's recent schedule for me."

After Emily left, the last trace of warmth on Noah's face completely disappeared, leaving only the cruelest coldness.

He finally realized he wasn't as generous as he thought. After what happened earlier, if he could still hold back, he wouldn't be Noah.

"Yes, Mr. Stone, don't worry. I'll get right on it."

The assistant beside him immediately took on the task. A mere Adam - having them deal with him was already giving him too much credit.

But having been by Noah's side for so long, he understood very clearly how much Noah valued Emily.

What Adam did today was purely asking for death.

"Also find out which companies the Blake Group has been working with recently. I want to take all their resources. Adam wants to win Emily back? I'll make sure he has no time to think about that and just focus on developing the Blake Group."

Noah said coldly. The assistant beside him immediately fell silent.

Compete with the Blake family for resources? Wasn't this basically handing out benefits to those companies?

He figured that as soon as Noah hinted at it, those companies would kick the Blake family aside and gratefully come begging Noah to sign contracts with them.

He thought Noah must have gone crazy. Was this the power of love? Truly terrifying!

But he only dared complain in his heart and obediently went to handle the matter.
