Chapter 46: Complaints
Chapter 46: Complaints
When Emily got home that evening, she was completely exhausted. Jack happened to be downstairs eating fruit, and was surprised to see Emily walk in.
"How come you're back so early? Shouldn't the bar just be getting lively at this time? Did something happen?"
Jack frowned, looking at Emily's worn-out appearance with concern. He quickly cut a plate of fruit, brought it to the living room table, and pulled Emily over to sit down.
"Tell me what happened."
"Jack, don't get the wrong idea. It's not a big deal, I just ran into Adam."
Emily sighed and briefly explained what had happened at the bar.
"Luckily Noah was there, otherwise I really wouldn't have known what to do."
Jack's frown deepened, his dissatisfaction growing. "Emily, next time you go out, remember to bring bodyguards. That Adam is crazy, no one knows when he'll suddenly lose it. If he hurts you, that'll be trouble. You can't always count on someone happening to be there to save you - you need to learn to protect yourself."
"I know, Jack. I really know now."
Emily nodded helplessly. This incident had definitely taught her a lesson.
"But that Adam is really disgusting, pestering you over and over again. I heard he came to our villa again?"
Jack ground his teeth in anger. Everyone in the Hart family hated that bastard!
Now that Emily was finally back, he absolutely couldn't let Adam find another chance to hurt her!
"Why don't I just use the family's power to destroy him? The Blake family isn't worth all this effort and stress you're putting in."
Jack really wanted to solve the Blake family problem once and for all, but Emily shook her head. "Forget it. I caused all this trouble myself. I've already caused the family too much trouble - I'll handle this myself."
"Why bother? It's exhausting to tough it out alone. Now that you're home, it's only natural for me to back you up!"
Emily smiled. "I know, but I want to handle it myself. It's like putting an end to this chapter of my life. From now on, he and I will have nothing to do with each other!"
"Good! Well said! From now on, you and Adam are strangers! Alright then, you can handle this yourself. A Hart family girl should be able to handle something this small!"
Emily rolled her eyes helplessly, but a faint smile played on her lips. After all, Jack trusted her.
"By the way Jack, why are you eating fruit so late at night?"
Emily asked curiously. Jack shrugged. "I'm hungry, I can't cook, and at this hour ordering delivery is too much trouble, plus the food gets cold by the time it arrives."
"Then you might as well just go out to eat. Can fruit really fill you up?"
Emily said sarcastically. Jack smiled. "As long as there's something to eat, I'm fine. I don't want to go through all that trouble."
"Alright, alright, just wait here. I'll go make you something."
Emily said, standing up and heading to the kitchen.
Jack was stunned. "You don't have to, Emily. I can just grab a bite. There's really no need for you to cook."
"How can that be okay? Just making do isn't healthy, and I can cook. Just wait."
Jack fell silent, watching Emily skillfully tie on an apron with a complicated expression, feeling uncomfortable inside.
Emily used to be a pampered rich girl at home, never doing housework. The family spoiled and doted on her, never letting her do any chores.
She'd only been gone a short while, and now she could cook.
He didn't know what she'd been through at Adam's place. Thinking about this made him hate Adam even more, wishing he could drag that bastard out and beat him up again!
But there would be chances in the future. Jack silently fumed to himself - once the time was right, he'd find an opportunity to get revenge for Emily!
Meanwhile, Adam had also returned home in a sorry state. Vivian was terrified when she saw him covered in blood and rushed out to support him. "Adam? What happened to you? How did you get hurt so badly? Where did you go!"
"It's nothing! I tripped and fell."
Adam said impatiently. "I went to find Emily. She's completely stubborn and won't come back with me. I don't know how long she plans to keep this up!"
Vivian's expression froze, thinking resentfully, "That bitch Emily really wants to seduce Adam back! She already has so many men around her but still isn't satisfied. What a slut!"
"Why are you just standing there? Help me inside!"
Adam had drunk too much and his head was injured. He was feeling very dizzy right now, but Vivian beside him had no sense at all, just standing there in a daze like a block of wood, which really annoyed him.
Vivian quickly snapped back to attention and carefully helped Adam inside. "Adam, I'm just worried about you! Emily is really something - didn't she see you were hurt? How could she not send you home? So heartless."
Adam said nothing, his face dark as thunder. After all, the wound on his head was from Emily hitting him - how could Emily possibly care about him!
"Let me see, there seems to be a bump on your head. I'll get the first aid kit to treat it."
Vivian said worriedly, but Adam refused. "It's fine, it's not a big deal. It'll heal in a few days. By the way, go make me some food first. I'm starving."
Hearing this, Vivian's eyes widened and she said nervously, "But I don't know how to cook."
Adam was furious. "What did you say? Are you even a woman? How can you not know how to cook?"
"I've never cooked before! And didn't you compliment my hands? You said they were delicate and smooth, well-maintained. If I cook and do housework all the time, my hands will definitely get rough and ugly!"
Adam fell silent, suddenly getting a headache. What use was a woman who couldn't cook?
Coming home this late and not even getting a hot meal - Adam suddenly felt irritated.
"I know! I'll call my mom over. She's the best cook! Let her come to our house to cook for us from now on, okay?"
Vivian suddenly suggested. Adam reluctantly nodded, and only then did Vivian cheer up and breathe a sigh of relief.
