Chapter 36 Gradually Breaking Away

Chapter 36 Gradually Breaking Away

Jack looked at Emily suspiciously, "If you have nothing to hide, why are you so scared?"

"I'm going out on a date!"

Jack instantly jumped to his feet, his voice rising, "What did you say? A date? With who!"

"Relax, it's not really a date. I'm just going to have dinner with Noah."

Emily was speechless, but she knew Jack was probably afraid she'd go looking for Adam again and repeat the same mistakes.

She wasn't that stupid, okay? But she also knew no one would believe her explanation anyway.

Sighing silently to herself, she would never go looking for Adam again. She found him disgusting!

"Alright then, go ahead."

Jack was still unhappy, but he had no right to stop Emily from seeing Noah. In fact, he'd be thrilled if the two of them got together soon.

It's just that thinking about how Emily had barely been back and was already moving into another relationship made him feel a bit uncomfortable.

He couldn't bear to let Emily go, while Alex and Sarah went about their business completely unaffected, even hoping every day that Emily would get married soon.

"I'm heading out then!"

Emily left with a smile, then picked up Noah and headed straight to the restaurant.

On the way, she was still complaining to Noah, "When Jack heard I was going out, he thought I was going to see Adam. He's really too much."

"Really? So do you still have any feelings for Adam?"

Noah clenched his fists slightly, not knowing how he could ask such a question so casually.

"How could I? To me now, he's nothing more than a stranger. Though I still find him somewhat disgusting and revolting, I won't even give him a second glance."

Emily said coldly. This attitude of complete indifference was the true sign of having completely moved on.

Noah relaxed his hands, and his heart calmed down too.

At the restaurant, the two sat facing each other.

"I saw some of the gossip online. Don't take it to heart. I know someone is deliberately spreading rumors about you."

As Noah spoke, he patiently peeled the shrimp shells, prepared all the food that needed peeling, and placed it on Emily's plate.

Emily froze, feeling something soften in her heart.

She suddenly remembered eating with Adam - she was always the one doing these things, while Adam always acted like he deserved it, enjoying her efforts.

But never knowing how to be grateful.

"Thank you."

Emily felt that anything she said now would seem inadequate, so she simply said thank you.

"No need to be polite."

"Noah, I'm gradually pulling myself out of that relationship with Adam. That experience hurt me deeply, I have to admit. But after leaving him, I've been gradually relaxing. Give me some time to completely break free, and after that, I'll be ready to start a new relationship."

Emily looked at Noah seriously as she spoke. She didn't want to hold Noah back, so she felt some things needed to be said clearly.

Noah looked up slightly, gazing at her gently, and placed the shrimp he was holding onto her plate. "I understand, don't overthink it."

"I'll wait for you."

Emily smiled and nodded, finally feeling completely relaxed inside.

Even though she had felt somewhat uncomfortable about what happened before, now she felt relieved.

Perhaps it was Noah's respect and thoughtfulness that brought great comfort to her heart.

After dinner, Noah personally drove Emily home.

"See you another day."

At The Hart Manor, after saying goodbye to Noah, Emily immediately went inside.

Noah's car remained parked at the entrance for a long time. Only after she was completely out of sight did he drive away.

The next day, Adam also happened to return home with Vivian.

"Finally back. These past few days have been so much fun."

Vivian stretched comfortably, but Adam looked at the furnishings in the house and frowned slightly.

Emily hadn't come back at all. Everything in the house, all the layout and decorations, hadn't changed one bit.

What the hell was Emily playing at?

Could it be that because he went traveling with Vivian, she wanted to use this tactic to make him feel guilty?

"Adam, let's go to the bedroom and unpack."

Vivian took Adam's arm, interrupting his thoughts. Adam pulled his arm back, his mood unusually heavy.

"You go unpack yourself. I have something to do."

Adam pulled out his phone and directly called Emily.

Vivian's smile disappeared. She looked with some resentment at Emily's name displayed on his phone screen.

"Why, why! Why can't you let go of that woman Emily? What do I have to do to completely replace her!"

Vivian roared almost crazily in her heart, but Adam couldn't hear a single word.

The call went through, but no one answered. Adam's mood grew increasingly irritable.

Thinking that Emily might be with another man, he was going crazy.

No way, he absolutely wouldn't allow it!

Emily loved him so much, how could she bear to give him up? This must be another one of her tricks!

Adam's face turned dark. He grabbed his coat and rushed out the door.

"Adam! Where are you going!"

Vivian chased to the door, shouting anxiously, but Adam had already driven off in a hurry, leaving her with a cloud of exhaust fumes.

Adam drove straight to The Hart Manor. After parking, he rushed toward it, but was stopped by security guards.

"Sir, you cannot approach without the villa owner's permission!"

The black-suited guards blocked him coldly. Adam's expression changed. "Let me through! I'm here to see someone! My girlfriend is in there!"

"No, we've received orders to prevent you from approaching the villa!"

Adam's face changed drastically. He looked up and shouted at the villa, "Emily! Come out! I know you're in there!"

Inside the villa, Emily coldly watched everything from upstairs, watching Adam's hysterical shouting and the two guards forcibly dragging him away.

Her mood suddenly felt exceptionally light.

"Remove him immediately."

Jack gave the order directly, which was transmitted to the two guards' earpieces. They immediately obeyed and threw Adam out.

"Let me in!"

Adam refused to give up and tried to force his way in, but was pushed hard by the guards.

"I'm telling you, if you try to force your way in again, don't blame us for not being polite."

The guard threatened coldly. Their eyes told Adam they were serious!

Adam stared blankly at the villa before him, suddenly feeling powerless.

He was certain Emily was in there, but he couldn't get in. He couldn't even see her.

Could Emily really be planning to give up on him?
