Chapter 93 You Will Regret This!
Chapter Ninety-Two
Aria turned to look at the employees before her. They were still seated , giving each other uncertain looks.
“Well come on,” Nathan urged, “You all know that this woman here will never be able to do anything worthwhile with Nexus. If you will be in my team, we will definitely be the ones having a good year in Vaughn Empire.”
The employees looked at each other once more. A few were torn because of what Nathan had said.
Nathan was right when he’d said he was more experienced, and they’d all worked with him previously.
Apart from the Belarus project, which they lost earlier that year, all the other projects they worked on had pulled through and brought the company profit.
Although, it was wise to mention here that the team members had done most of the work and Nathan had directly stolen some ideas right from under them.
The employees could not say anything when that had happened, however.
Infact, they felt it was normal for that happen since Nathan was not only a Director, but also the son of the Chairman.
So when he’d got a hold of the ideas and projects made by the other team members, there was not a word of complaint.
Or the employee in question would lose their job.
The Graves Empire was a lucrative place to work and the pay and incentives were very nice. No one wanted to leave especially when they had a chance for promotions with good benefits.
So they sucked up the attitude from Nathan and Monica Hank and hoped with all their might that the projects pull through.
But some of the employees were really tired of that rat race, and some harbor resentment from having their works stolen from them.
Nathan looked round at the employees, his bright and eager smile slowly slipping away and replaced with a mask of anger.
“You stupid, simple fools. Are you seriously not going to consider me?!” He yelled at them, and the employees jerked from fear.
They looked at each other once more, their uncertainty becoming more and more paramount. Director Nathan was now becoming more and more insultive.
Nathan wagged a finger at them all, “Let me just let you know. This is the last chance you will ever have from me!” He uttered vindictively, “When that stupid Nexus project fails, the chairman will be throwing out Team Leader Aria, as well as you all!”
Aria leaned forward to glare in his face, “Do not threaten my team members!”
Nathan scoffed, “Threaten? Don’t make me laugh.” He smirked, “I am only pointing them to light. It’s only fair that I let them know of what will happen when they follow your lead.”
Aria glared at him, but at this moment, there was nothing she could actually do.
After a few minutes, some employees actually pushed back their chairs and stood up.
They had their heads bowed and would not meet Aria’s eyes as they walked quietly to Director Nathan and stood behind him.
The others looked at them in disbelief, and Nathan laughed with glee, “It’s fine!” He assured them, “There’s no need to look so down. You’re making the right choice.” He looked at Aria with disdain, “She is not all that and does not deserve your loyalty.”
At those words, the employees who stood behind him, about six of them, looked at each other, their confidence returning.
They quietly raised their heads and glared at Aria defiantly, as if daring her to say a word at them.
Nathan was pleased at this turn of events. He nodded and laughed mockingly.
Turning back to the other employees, he raised his hands questioning, “How about that? Are you all not coming with me as well?”
The other employees remained seated, their eyes on the table in front of them.
Nathan scoffed, “You will never get another chance like this.” He warned, “This is your last chance.”
The employees still remained seated, not one of them moved at all.
Aria moved forward, “Stop badgering my team members,” she uttered angrily, glaring at all seven of them, “You all take yourselves and get out!”
Nathan scoffed slightly in mockery, then turned back to the employees. He was determined to steal everyone of them right from under Aria’s nose.
All he had to do was promised them some incentives and promotion. The Chairman’s approval was an added bonus and they would come running to him like ants attracted to sugar.
But he was surprised that some of the other employees were still hanging back. He could not do with just six employees.
He wanted them all, especially the marketing manager.
If he got the young man, there was no doubt thatcher others would follow suit as well.
Seeing Nathan’s manipulation, Aria decide to take matters into her own hands.
She turned to the employees, “If you know you want to go with this man here, then you’re free to leave.” She said, her voice sharp, “I can’t work with weak willed people!”
The marketing manager, cleared his throat nervously and stood up from his chair.
Aria watched him, but she did not let her disappointment be visible.
However the marketing manger turned to Nathan, “Director Nathan, I…I’m sorry but I won’t be joining you.”
“Yes, me neither!” Another employee uttered immediately.
“Me too. I won’t be coming with you!”
“Me neither. I want to stay with Team Leader Aria!”
Soon, the rest of the employees chipped in and everyone of them refused to join Nathan’s team to his anger and astonishment.
He slammed his hand on the table before him once more, “You fools, I’ll make sure you regret this!” He thundered angrily at them but the employees only stared back at him defiantly.
“Exactly. Are you all daft?” One of the employees who had joined Nathan’s team, uttered. It was the same female employee who had talked back to Aria earlier.
Now she’d lost most of her earlier fear and was now standing behind Nathan crossing her arms in indignation.
“It’s simply foolish to be on the team of this woman.” She continued disdainfully, “I’ll advise you all to come on to Director Nathan’s side. I’m sure victory is sure over here. If you refuse, you will surely regret it!”
