Chapter 92 Who’s Coming With Me?!
Chapter Ninety-One
When Aria finished speaking, everyone applauded, the employees completely amazed at what they’d just heard her say.
“That’s awesome, team leader.” The marketing manager uttered, beaming directly at Aria, “I can’t believe we did not see this through back then.” He held up a thumbs up for her, “You’re awesome, team leader.”
The other employees agreed, cooing to Aria but Nathan let out a huge snort that could be heard above all their jubilating.
“How on earth you all think this is a good idea baffles me!” He muttered under his breath, “That’s a lot of risk we are going to be taking if we go through with this!”
The employees fell silent as Aria turned back to Nathan.
“Kurt Eugene doesn’t own the company yet.”
Thank God for that, Aria thought.
If he had actually moved to buy Nexus back then, she would never have forgiven herself. He probably hadn’t brought it up before her because he did not want her digging to see that Nexus owned the patent originally.
Well, she eventually did and now, here they were.
She shook her head to get those thoughts out and focused on the task at hand: shutting Nathan up.
“If we move first, the law protects us.” She concluded, “So that’s why we have to be fast.”
“Wow.” The marketing manager muttered under his breath and Nathan shot him a flaming look.
“What the fuck are you ‘wowing’ for? She’s reckless, that what’s she is!” He uttered vindictively, pushing his glasses further up on his nose.
His words made the employees stopped clapping and they cast him side glances, uncomfortable with his words.
Aria rolled her eyes, pissed at Nathan’s stubbornness and that she still had to deal with him this way.
Anyone who had been embarrassed like Nathan multiple times like he was today, would have had the sense to leave the meeting room earlier but he did not.
He’d probably stayed back to see how she’d run the meeting and then get pissed that she’d actually did well.
Aria knew all this and she was not going to let him interrupt with her bonding with her team members.
She needed them as much as they needed her.
She turned to Nathan, scathing words on her lips, “Why are you still here?”
Nathan scoffed in irritation, “Aria Beaumont, don’t get ahead of yourself.”
Aria gave him a scorching look, noting that Nathan still refused to address her properly at the workplace.
How on earth can he be so odious?!
Nathan smirked at the dark gaze which Aria was giving him and he went on, “You’ve successfully managed to convince these simple fools to go with you on this Nexus project, right?” He uttered nodding his head towards the employees.
The employees bristled.
Simple fools? What the hell?
Aria slammed her hand in the table before her, “Director Nathan!” She called out in anger, as a warning.
Nathan laughed evilly, “I will still be going ahead with the Crown Avenue Project,” he suddenly announced.
Everyone gasped from outrage, looking at each other in shock.
What the hell?
Aria cocked her head towards the side, scoffing in disbelief, “On whose orders?” Her voice was sharp and her eyes were even sharper.
Nathan growled, “I don’t take orders from you!” He barked, “Not now! Not ever!”
Aria leaned back on her seat, “Oh really?” She asked, laughing softly, “And what do you think the Chairman would say to that?”
Nathan actually smiled and leaned back on his seat, adjusting the coat, “I think he will be well pleased.”
“Ah,” Aria replied in pretend wonder, “He will be pleased. Is that what you’re saying?”
Nathan leaned forward, interrupting her, “The company placed twenty five billion on this project which you’re about to blow off,” he whispered to her through his teeth, “I’d like to see how you’d cry on that day when your stupid little project flops, and when the Chairman throws you out.”
Aria smiled, and leaned forward as well, “We will see who is being thrown out, and who will be crying and groveling at my feet.” She uttered sweetly, “The Crown Avenue project is useless and not worthwhile. Don’t say I didn’t warn you.”
Nathan stood up, pushing back his chair so hard that it nearly toppled out of anger, “We WILL see about that!” He turned back to the employees, “Who is with me on this project? I will make sure I take us to victory, and you’d be rewarded handsomely by the Chairman on this. Trust me. So now, who’s coming with me?”
Aria shot to her feet in indignation, “How dare you?!”
Nathan turned to her with an evil smirk, “What’s that? You’re scared now, right?”
Aria growled at him, “Leave my team members alone. You get your own team to follow up on your foolery!”
Nathan’s smile paled as he heard those words. His breathing quickened and the muscles on his jaw ticked rapidly, “Well then, let’s just allow them to make their decision now, shall we?”
He looked back at the employees, “Listen to me, are you going to come with me on this very profitable Crown Avenue Project? You’ve all worked with me before and you know the number of feats we’ve carried out together,” he gave Aria a smug look, “I am also the director with much more experience than this reckless woman here.”
The employees looked at each others murmuring amongst themselves as they were already getting swayed by what Nathan was saying.
Aria’s face was hard as she looked from Nathan back to the employee.
What a snake!
How can he think of taking the team members away from her?
The marketing team, although they were not so bright in the meeting they just conducted, she could still make good use of them and put their potentials to good use.
Now Nathan was trying to take them all out from under her, and leaving her stranded.
She bit her lips, as she wondered if the employees would really go with this big fool of a man.
She was sure she’d managed to convince them that she was the better one to work it, but she could not beat the fact that they’d been with Nathan all through and had worked under his leadership for years.
This man was going to be doing her dirty with this.
Nathan looked at her, smirking at her distressed expression, then asked loudly once more, “Or would you prefer to stay here with this country bumpkin with no expertise or experience at all?!”
