Chapter 91 Finito!
Chapter Ninety
Everyone stared open mouthed at the slide which Aria was pointing out to them.
They could clearly see the patent hidden in Nexus appendix, and the fact that they’d completely overlooked it in the first place, was wild.
How come they’d not thought Nexus would have their own patent already?
Well, that was probably because they looked down on the startup from its inception. They’d never seen any potential in it, and they had not really paid much attention to it.
Aria saw their surprised expression and then rolled her eyes in boredom.
“Your competitor, the Vaughn Empire…”She started, then paused, before muttering under her breath, “…or should I say Kurt Eugene…he’s the only bastard capable of doing this back at Vaughn Empire.”
She let out a small laughter of disdain, while everyone else looked at each other in puzzlement.
What the hell was she muttering under her breath and laughing for?
“Team Leader?” The Manager called out tentatively, rapping softly on the table to get Aria’s attention.
Aria blinked, snapping out of what she was thinking about. She had been so carried away by her thoughts that she did not know she had clenched her hands so hard that the knuckles turned white. Her face had taken on a murderous outlook and was scaring the hell out of anybody watching.
She quickly cleared her throat, “That’s right. Kurt Eugene copied the same tech six months later.” She uttered, “That patent blocks him legally from whatever it is he wants to do now.”
The team oohed and ahhed, surprised at that bit of information. They quickly went on their laptops, checking and confirming, shaking their heads in surprise.
“Isn’t that like… a crime?”
“So the Vaughn Empire copied that patent, and now they want the startup?”
“That happens a lot in this cut throat business world. And it wasn’t the Vaughn Empire,” Aria uttered, leaning forward in the table with both elbows on the table, “It’s just Kurt Eugene. The Vaughn Empire has nothing to do with this.”
The employees nodded while some just shrugged and went on with what they were doing, obviously thinking that what Aria said didn’t really matter.
What’s the difference between Kurt Eugene and the Vaughn Empire? The company must have given him the go ahead to do what he did.
There was no way he was acting by himself, doing why he did. He probably had the go ahead from Elara before she died.
But that wasn’t it at all.
Kurt Eugene had actually done everything by himself, while deceiving Elara when she was alive, claiming the patent was theirs. She had being so proud of him for creating something so awesome, but she knew Kurt was not someone with that kind of expertise.
Even though she loved him, she knew something was off.
She had eventually managed to come across Nexus later on and realized Kurt had actually copied their patent. She was awfully disappointed and was going to tell Kurt to drop it, but then she never got the chance to express her extreme disappointment.
Because he killed her off.
She wondered just how many discrepancies he’d caused by himself under the guise of working for Vaughn Empire.
The thought made her ill.
She sighed in exasperation, her jaw clenching, “I have to save my parents empire before he runs everything to the ground.” She thought to herself, her eyes venomous, “And I’ll start by turning to dust, everything you’ve ever achieved through crooked means, Kurt Eugene.”
“So what?” Nathan spoke up, rousing Aria out from her thoughts, “Now that we know Kurt Eugene did that, so what? It’s still the Vaughn Empire? Are we going to be going against them?”
Aria gave him a square look, “Obviously.” She arched an eyebrow, “Isn’t that what we were already talking about? That’s why I’m telling you how we have a chance to go against them.”
Everyone straightened up on their seat and Nathan let out a bark of laughter once more.
“We are going against them?! We have a chance to go against them?! Hah!” He repeated in an incredulous tone, his voice getting higher and higher as he tried to prove that whatever it is Aria was saying or would say would be foolish, “The Vaughn Empire and the Graves Empire has been on good terms like forever. We respect our boundaries, so we can benefit from our business together. We don’t encroach on each other!”
Aria shrugged, leaning back on her seat, “Well then, it’s about time, isn’t it?”
Everyone murmured under their breath at those words and Nathan just stared at her, aghast.
It was one thing that he was shocked as hell that she knew all these information concerning the projects and concerning the Vaughn Empire.
Where on earth has she gotten all these information about Nexus and the drained avenue project?
The farm??
Now that was one thing, but then she was also bold enough to say they were going to be going against the Vaughn Empire still? Even he was shocked at that level of boldness.
He was also a little pleased.
There was no doubt Aria would fail in this. And then the Chairman would be extremely displeased, and the relationship between the Graves Empire and the Vaughn Empire would be completely ruined.
That was not going to sit down well with the Chairman and Aria would eventually be thrown out.
So he pursed his lips with pleasure and did not say anything as Aria continued, tired as hell from Nathan’s interruption, “We have a chance to go against the Vaughn Empire for this,” she muttered, “And what’s more? We are going to be getting it as well.”
She turned the screen of her laptop towards them, and everyone gave her their rapt attention, even Nathan, despite himself.
“If we buy the Nexus startup, then we own the patent. Kurt Eugene won’t be able to use his system anymore.”
That might work.
The employees nodded slowly in approval, and Nathan seeing this was more than a little bit irritated, “And the revenue?” He asked, crossing his arms, “How do we know it’s gonna be worthwhile?”
Aria pointed at the screen once more, “Government subsidies for rural delivery start next quarter. Their pilot cities match the subsidy zones.” She arched an eyebrow at Nathan, “Their costs drop by forty percent and their profits jump. We come in and swim in it. Finito.”
