Chapter 83 You Did This To Me!
Chapter Eighty-Four
Aria shot Nathan a flaming look at that question.
“I don’t know, Nathan.” She uttered, her voice dripping with sarcasm, “Maybe trying to meet the workers under my team?!”
Her voice was so sharp that it made the employees look at each other in surprise.
They didn’t expect that she would be so bold as to speak to the Director that way.
“Did you hear her? How can she speak to the Director that way?!”
“So rude! She must be so proud that she has someone behind her!”
“I thought she was a country bumpkin. How can she look so beautiful anyway?”
“She’s no different than the rest. Here to make our life harder!”
The employees whispered to each other, giving Aria nasty looks.
Aria ignored them and walked around the long table to an empty seat at the fore front.
As she walked past Debra, the young lady quickly got up from her seat, “Ma’am…” She started saying but Aria interrupted her.
“You’re fired.”
“What?!” Debra’s mouth hung open in shock.
The next moment, her eyes darkened with fear and anger as she looked from Aria to Nathan. Her fists were clenched in anger as she realized that Nathan was not saying anything.
He was only watching Aria with hooded eyes.
“You can’t do that,” she uttered, her heart beating in alarm. The other employee looked on, waiting to see what Nathan or Aria would do next.
Aria sat down without even looking at Debra. She turned to Nathan, “Really Nathan?” She asked with a slight arch of her well-carved eyebrows, “I can’t do that?”
Nathan cleared his throat, looking away from Aria at that moment.
Aria crossed her arms below her bosom, “I can’t even fire a useless assistant, who cannot even keep to time when attending to requests?” She asked, “Really? I can’t do that as the head of the marketing department?!”
The employees immediately turned to each other, their eyes wide with surprise and shock at the new development.
“She’s the new marketing team head?!How could that be?!”
“The CEO really went too far. Even if he’s bewitched by her, how can he make her have such important position?!”
“Did she even graduate college?! How on earth can she lead us?!”
“Are we not supposed to do something? I feel like the glory of our department is going to be jeopardized now!”
“I thought she was just a stuck up daughter in law here to play boss, but she’s actually our boss?!”
Nathan cleared his throat once more, “You just resumed work, and you’re already going about firing people?!” He asked in a good natured tone, which only made Aria want to gag.
Nathan shook his head and continued, “Sister in law, please do not be that way. I know the office is not somewhere you’re used to since you grew up in the country, but you can’t behave that rashly here.”
Aria rolled her eyes, feeling her blood boiling at Nathan’s act and pretend concern.
She knew what the fool was trying to do.
He was deliberately setting her up, speaking to her in that condescending tone like she was a child or a fool.
He had mentioned that she was not used to office life, indirectly saying that she was not fit for whatever position she was given.
He had also mentioned Aria’s background as well, so as to put her down before the eyes of the employees even more.
Even now, she could see the employees whispered behind their palms and throw her disgusted looks.
“Well played, Nathan,” Aria thought, raising her chin haughtily, “Well played.”
Putting her down in front of the employees and making them see her as a joke was really a huge blow.
It was also significant enough to send hindrances into her wheel of success.
Aria raised her chin proudly once more, determined to not be put down by Nathan’s stupid antics.
She was Elara Vaughn, the woman who had bagged the title, “Queen Midas Touch,”
She had also won multiple awards in her industry multiple times for several roles and exploits in business.
Dealing with some incompetent and jealous co-worker would not be a problem at all.
She clenched her jaw, then glared at Debra, “Why didn’t you get me the new things in my office as I requested?” She asked in a scathing voice.
“That’s because…” Debra uttered, starting to point at Nathan but then Nathan slammed his hand down in the table before him.
“Aria, just let it go.” He uttered, still speaking in that calm voice as if he was speaking to a stupid person, “Are you being like this only because you don’t like your office?”
Aria realized he was just trying to make her look violent or someone uncultured.
She looked at the employees determined and disgustedfaces.
They looked like they would take up arms against her if she mentioned that she wanted to fire Debra once more.
Aria smirked.
She would like to see them try.
She faced Debra once more, “Tell me something, Debra,” she uttered, leaning forward with both hands clasped before her, “Did someone ask you to do that? I mean, you’re just an assistant. You wouldn’t dare do that to me unless you have a death wish!”
Debra swallowed, her gaze moving from Aria to Nathan.
God, what should she do?!
She didn’t want to lose her job, and she as hell didn’t want to lose favour in the sight of someone as powerful as Director Nathan.
“That’s enough!” Nathan roared, making every employee jump with fear.
Aria arched an eyebrow at him, disgusted with his act of authority.
Who the hell gave him the right to yell that way? The hypocritical bastard!
Nathan pointed at Debra, “What are you still doing here?!” He yelled at her, “Didn’t you hear her? Get out of here now!”
Debra was stunned, but she quickly regained her composure, “Director, you can’t do this to me!” She uttered through gritted, “You were the one who put me up to it, weren’t you?!”
Nathan slammed his hand on the desk once more and stood up in a fury, “What nonsense!” He roared once again, “Leave! before I call security!”
