Chapter 82 Make Her Quit!
Chapter Eighty-Three
At those words, Aria arched an eyebrow at her.
“What did you just say to me?” She asked, her eyes narrowing into slits.
Debra immediately blanched.
She suddenly felt apprehensive, taking a step backwards at the unexpected change in Aria’s demeanor.
“Okay Debra, this woman is not going to be much of a pushover.” She thought to herself, “I’d better tread carefully with this one, unless I’m going to be losing my job.”
After all, this woman called Aria Beaumont was the wife of the CEO of Vaughn Empires, Lucian Graves.
While there was no doubt Aria married for money and status, no one knew how Lucian treated her.
But it must definitely be favorable since he was able to bring her into the office through nepotism.
He wouldn’t pay much attention to someone whom he did not care about.
Debra immediately realized that she would be going against higher authority wishes if she continued this way.
But she had also been ordered by the Director to make sure Aria appears useless in the office.
What was she to do now?
She fiddled with her thumbs, wringing them in despair and worry.
She looked at Aria and shivered at the coldness in the depths of her green eyes. Sucking in a huge breath, she uttered in a slightly trembling voice, “Nothing ma’am.”
“Get me those reports at once,” Aria retorted, her eyes flashing, “And my freaking computer as well!”
Debra jumped, and cleared her throat, “Yes ma’am,” she uttered stiffly, then walked out of the office.
As soon as she was out, she slumped against the walls, clutching her chest and breathing in relief.
“Why is she so aggressive?” She hissed glaring back at Aria’s door, “you’d better not make things difficult for me, bitch.”
But she was also afraid of higher authority.
Lucian’s authority was definitely higher than that of the Director and she had sensibly decided not to go against him.
But that doesn’t mean she would still not carry out the Director’s orders. Her mouth tightened into a grim line as she started moving further away.
She was not going to accept nepotism in the workplace, as well as mockery of her and her fellow employee’s hard work.
Aria Beaumont will have to pay for this insolence.
With that thought, a mischievous smile curved her lips and she continued on her way and on to her work.
Meanwhile, in her office, Aria waited for a long time for Debra to return. Seconds turned into minutes and minutes turned into hours but still, Debra had not returned.
Aria paced about her little office, frustration crawling up her throat, so that she wanted to scream expletives out loud so badly.
She tapped her fingers on her empty desk, as she considered calling Lucian.
But that would just be very unbecoming at this point. Lucian had definitely backed her up all this while, and had even assured her of having this position, even with the stories of her being uneducated and a country bumpkin flying around.
She knew he was expecting her to step up and wow them completely, and she was willing to do just that.
Because, yes she can!
“But how am I going to do that when I can’t even handle this tiny piece of problem myself?” She muttered in frustration.
Turning to glare at the door, she swore, “That godforsaken assistant! I swear I will make her know who she thinks she’s messing with!”
With that thought, she turned on her heels and walked out of the office. She walked down the long silent hallway, finding her way while recalling how they’d come up to the floor in the first place.
She recalled walking past the actual marketing department, and was puzzled when Debra didn’t turn into it earlier.
“Now I know why,” she muttered, scoffing in disbelief, “She’s trying to make me feel useless and out of place here. That way I’ll quit myself.”
She had not thought she would be facing this much opposition as soon as she’d entered the company but she was.
She had even gone to great lengths to make sure she got rid of Monica before she started, but now the employees were turning against her?!
Aria laughed silently, feeling her muscles tensing at the thought of a good suppressing.
She had not expected this, but that does not mean she cannot handle it.
“I’m taking over.” She uttered calmly to herself, “They will have to get used to me here because I’ll be staying for a long time.”
She was not going to be walked all over by an assistant, who was supposed to answer to her.
As she walked, she directed her steps towards where she thought she’d seen the marketing department earlier.
Soon, she came to the section of that building and walked right in. She found the room empty and saw that there was no one in there, the desks empty.
Puzzled, Aria stopped wrinkling her brows in confusion.
Was this another ploy to disable her defenses? Where was everyone?
She was about to walk out of the office when she noticed some movements, and heard some sounds coming from the room at the far end of the office section.
She walked right up to it, taking note of the notice that says, “Meeting Room.”
Without knocking, she pushed the door opened and walked into the office.
Eight pairs of eyes looked up at her, widening in shock. All the marketing team members were there, having a meeting.
Nathan sat at the head of the table, his fingers clenching into fists.
Aria walked into, a half smile on her face as she slowly crossed her arms, “Well, isn’t this just cute?” She uttered.
Her eyes darted to Debra who was trying to make herself invisible, and she smirked.
Nathan leaned back, clasping his fingers together, “Miss Beaumont, what do you think you’re doing?”
Aria arched an eyebrow at him, scoffing in disbelief, “Miss Beaumont?!”
