Chapter 122 You Àre On Probatioñ

Chapter 122 You Àre On Probatioñ
Chapter One Hundred And Twenty-One

“Elara Vaughn, how is it that I am still not able to surpass you even after you’re dead?!”

This angry thought spiraled round and round in Kurt’s head as he sat in that tense boardroom.

He had felt so excited when he’d killed Elara off. She’d deserved it. Her family had deserved what had happened to them as well.

He was so sure that he could do everything that she did and he would do it well.

But now, what is this mess?

With the way things were looking, it was as though he would be thrown out of the company if he proved to not be useful.

His fiancée who usually had his back was dead. He’d manipulated her into signing all her shares over to him but he had not counted the fact that her parents might have the controlling back nor the governance rules protecting the shares.

His mind went back in time recalling the way, Elara had looked at him the night of her death.

Those blue eyes, cold as ice and as sharp as daggers.

They had been staring fixedly at him, filled with all the hatred and anger in the world. As he thought back in it now, Kurt swore he could recall disdain in the depths of her eyes.

The same that had always existed whenever she looked at him, whenever she spoke to him…

Although, everyone thought she thought the world of him, and Elara had indeed proven that in several occasions, Kurt could not see past that disdain in the depths of her royal blue eyes.

Nor the grace and airs with which she carried herself.

Nor the wells of knowledge that she’d amassed from years of being a privileged bitch, and having the best of educational foundations.

Who did she think she was to look down on him?

If he’d had everything she had while growing up, as he rightly should have had, then she would not be able to come close.

Well, he’d still managed to get rid of her, even with all her beauty, talents and prowess.

“How about you dine with the devil now and have a staring contest with him instead?” He thought to himself, his upper lip quivering with the urge to snarl.

“Kurt Eugene! Are you listening?! What the hell is wrong with you?!”

Executive Director Evans’s voice rang out through out the boardroom, jerking Kurt out of his thoughts.

He jerked in his seats and looked around wildly, his heart slamming hard inside of him as he realized he was still staring at more disdainful looks from the shareholders.

They were assessing him like some asset which had failed or was failing.

“These damn vultures! Can’t you just leave me the hell alone?!” He wanted to scream out loud but he knew he would be dead if he even remotely tried something like that.

Executive Director Evan’s face was as hard as granite.

He glared at Kurt all the more, “You think this is a trivial matter?” He asked, his voice hardening, “You have damaged investor confidence, lost a major strategic expansion, and placed this firm under regulatory attention. And you dare to zone out?!”

Kurt held his gaze, his hands clenched into fists so tight that the knuckles turned white. He was not going to back down, “I can fix this.” He uttered tightly.

“Can you?” another director asked, a slight smirk on his face, “Because the market disagrees. Take a look, Mr Eugene.”

As he spoke, a screen lit up behind them, and everyone turned to look at it.

The information there was devastating.

Their stock values was down by eleven percent, investors had issued concern notices already and there was also a legal review being initiated.

Kurt’s jaw dropped open, shocked and appalled.

How had things gotten so bad?

What the hell? If had only just been three months.

His fists clenched tighter and the muscles on his forehead almost popped with rage at what he was seeing.

This must be the job of that goddamn Aria Beaumont.

How dare she ruin things for him this way?!

That little bitch!

The Directors started murmuring once more, the panic evident in their voices.

What they were seeing on the screen was like their greatest nightmares coming to pass.

"Kurt Eugene! This is all your fault!"

"How on earth are you going to resolve this?!"

"You'd better resolve this or else..."

Kurt was almost palpitating at that point ,"I..I am..." he started, stammering badly.

"That's enough!" Executive Director Evan thundered, and the silence in the boardroom stretched.

After a heartbeat, he delivered the bombshell, "Kurt Eugene, You are on probation.”

Kurt's jaw tightened and he thought he was going to pass out from rage.

“You will secure measurable recovery within sixty days.”

Executive Director Evans voice rang out, the tone final.
