Chapter 131

Chapter 131
“You had been kidnapped by the sorceress, Caterina. That was the beginning of our nightmares. Our lives were literally turned upside down.” He continued.

As he spoke, Veronica could feel the pain in his voice and she could only try to imagine the kind of pain they felt back then.

“A search party was sent out, and the whole pack was combed in search of you, the lost princess, but no one saw you, neither did they see the sorceress. There was no place we didn't search, but the results were the same. They couldn't even find anything that could serve as a clue. It was as if she disappeared with you into oblivion.”

“But who was she really? And why did she kidnap me? I'm sure I had none, but what was my offense? What did an innocent baby do to her? Why did she make me go through terrible things? Why did she make me feel worthless and useless? Why did she choose to turn my life upside down and inside out?” Veronica asked, fighting back her tears, and her parents sighed.

Luna Isabella took Veronica’s hands in hers, and gently rubbed it. “It's okay, please don't cry.” She comforted her.

She then took the story up from where her husband stopped, and continued talking. “We carried out further investigations, and we found out that the so-called Caterina’s real name was Astilla, and she used to be your father's mate, years ago.”

“Oh! No way.” Veronica’s hands flew to her mouth in shock.

“Yeap.” Queen Isabella nodded, and Veronica’s eyes slowly fell on the king.

“Well, she cheated on him twice, breaking his heart.” She quickly added, in her husband's defense, as she saw Veronica’s reaction.

“Whoosh… that's complicated.” Veronica spoke in a funny way, and they couldn't help but chuckle slightly.

“Which was why he got married to you, his second chance mate.” Veronica added, realizing what really happened.

“Yes, you're right.” The queen nodded in agreement.

“Then it's her fault.” Veronica stated.

“Exactly.” The queen nodded again. “I'm guessing she got jealous because we heard that she went to acquire some black magical power, and changed her identity after many years, from Astilla to Caterina, which we now know her as.”

“That's one scary person.” Veronica voiced out, her face twisted in fear.

“I agree with you. Which is why we have been very careful and watchful over the years, because we have been unable to catch her yet, but we've always been on high alert ever since that incident.” Alpha Charles said on a final note, and Veronica sighed.

“Can I ask you a question though?” Queen Isabella asked, calmly.

“Of course, you can.”

“The sorceress, Caterina, who kept you with her back then, do you know where she is now? Do you know where we can find her?” Can you remember anything?” She asked Veronica.

“No, not really.” Veronica answered, shaking her head.

She suddenly remembered something. “I only remember that we stayed in a lone castle far away in a land where we both existed alone. No one else was there. We were all alone.” She revealed.

“No wonder we couldn't find her.” The King muttered.

“I escaped from her many years ago because she kept treating me like trash and told me my parents abandoned me because I was a worthless omega and they had no use for me.” Veronica narrated to them.

“What! An omega?! That's preposterous!” Luna Isabella exclaimed. “You know that's a lie now, right?”

Veronica was hesitant, “Well, I guess.” She had an unsure look on her face.

“Come here, I need to show you something.” Luna Isabella urged her, and got up from the chair.

Veronica got up too and went to her. She gently and carefully touched her head, pulling her head close to hers, so that their foreheads were touching.

“Close your eyes.” She said to Veronica, whose eyes darted from left to right, unsure if she should trust the Luna or not.

Sensing her hesitation, the queen said, “Trust me.” in the most peaceful voice ever, and as if under a spell, Veronica slowly closed her eyes.

And as they both kept their eyes closed, Veronica immediately felt a surge of power erupting within her. She opened her eyes and as she saw what was happening, her jaw dropped, and her eyes widened in shock.

There was this burst of white fire from their heads, which began to hover round them.

That was the last thing they needed to do to confirm if Veronica was really their daughter who was kidnapped nineteen years ago.

Alpha Charles, on the other hand, watched the moment proudly. He couldn't explain the way he was feeling at that moment. It was a mixed emotion of sadness for the years they spent apart from their beloved daughter, and happiness for finally reuniting with her.

Luna Isabella took a deep breath and opened her eyes, and immediately the white flame disappeared.

“I'm sure you're surprised.” Luna Isabella said to her, noticing her reaction.

“Surprised? Surprised is an understatement. I'm shocked beyond words.” Veronica replied, still in shock.

“What was that?” She asked her mother.

“Well, that is one of the many powers a silver wolf possesses. We have the ability to control certain elements.” She revealed it to her.

“Wow…” Veronica muttered.

“I hope that now you can see that you're not a worthless omega. That evil sorceress only lied to you so that you wouldn't know the extent of your powers.” She explained, and Veronica nodded as she began to understand.

“If I had carried out this ritual with any random wolf, they would have dropped dead immediately.” Luna Isabella revealed and Veronica’s eyes widened in shock.

“That's scary and risky. What if I wasn't from the lineage of Silver Wolves? What if I wasn't an offspring of a Silver Wolf? I could have died right now.” She said, her eyes filled with fear.

“No, that's not it. It doesn't work that way.” Luna Isabella shook her head.

“But you just said that…”

“I know, and I'm sorry for scaring you like that.” Luna Isabella apologized. “But the truth is that, the moment you were found, we could already sense that you were probably one of us, but we didn't want to jump to conclusions.” She explained carefully.

“So all the other facts adding up were just like the icing on the cake.” She added.

“Also, this ritual is never done just anyhow. It is only done after we have confirmed that such a person is an offspring from the lineage of Silver Wolves. It is the final process for confirmation of the extent of power you carry.” She explained further.

“Wow…” Veronica muttered awkwardly, as her eyes scanned the room once more.

Her eyes got stuck on the art design again and she couldn't get her eyes off it this time.

“What does P.V.C.S mean?” She asked, pointing at the art work.

Her parents smiled. “It stands for PRINCESS VERONICA CHARLOTTE SILVER. The name you were given on your christening.” Luna Isabella said, and Veronica felt like her heart was going to burst out of her chest.

“We had it painted in this room years ago to remind us that you existed, even though we weren't sure if you were alive and well. We never gave up on you, you know. We kept searching for you for years and as fate will have it, you’re here with us today.” She told Veronica, whose eyes had now welled up with tears, which began streaming down her face in seconds.

Her mother pulled her into her embrace. “Don't cry, baby. Today is a day of joy.”

“Yes, it is indeed a day of joy.” Alpha Charles cut in. “So you see that it is not a coincidence that you're here. It was fate that brought back our long lost princess to us, and we're extremely happy to have you back in our lives.” Alpha Charles said, and opened his arms.

Veronica gladly ran into his embrace, and for the first time in her entire life, she felt the embrace of her real father. She felt like she mattered. She felt like she was in the right place.

“This calls for celebration.” Alpha Charles suddenly said out loud.

“I agree.” His wife nodded in support, leaving Veronica all smiles.

“Guards!” He called out, and they rushed in, bowing before him.

“Sound the gong! Alert the people! Alert the elders! The lost princess has returned! Tonight we celebrate!!!” He ordered, authoritatively.
