Chapter 6
I was walking cautiously for a while. When I entered vampire territory, it was already morning. The area was very different from the west where the wolf packs were located.
It was misty. Barely any daylight was available due to the mist even though there was a lack of woods. But it was being easier for me to maintain a low profile and move around faster without any troubles in the mist since I had not spotted any demon monsters till then. It was rare not to see one considering the time I was out there.
The area seemed so cold and dead. The trees were as if naked, unlike the west where the lilacs would bloom in broad daylight.
But what caught my attention the most was the bizarre fluffy blue kittens with deer horns. The kittens looked so enchanting. The kittens were running around playfully. Sometimes they were getting closer to me nuzzling on my leg meowing around to get petted.
There were so many beautiful creatures all over the place. There were small butterflies that looked like tiny unicorns. Those were wonderful. But none of them seemed threatening. It was creating a mystical atmosphere.
I was startled by a noise in the bushes around me. Something started to move behind it. I tried to take a closer look. At this rate, I was not expecting anything dangerous. A vampire would not fit inside that after all.
The creatures that I had seen till then were not harmful. I tiptoed near the bush that was still moving. I slowly moved the branches aside. A round fluffy ball appeared in front of me.
I was confused for a bit. It was wiggling. The moment I touched it, the ball screamed, "Oh lord!” I was dumbfounded.
"It moves,” I said flatly to myself. “And speaks,” my wolf added inside my mind.
It was time for another surprise. The fluff ball finally turned. It was also looking at me dumbfounded with its round big eyes.
"A pika?!” I spoke to myself in a lower voice staring at the fluffy thing flatly.
It surely looked like one. But way bigger in size and fluffier. But the exquisite part was how it was standing in its tiny feet and my eyes were not leaving the wizard hat on his head. The way he started speaking sounded like some old man's nagging.
“A wolf?!” it started mumbling. Then it started to come towards me.
"Oh heavens! What is a wolf from the distant land doing here?” He leaned forward and put his one hand on his forehead to take a better look. But the tiny arm that he put on his almost invisible waist under the fluff was hilarious.
“Cute,” I couldn’t stop myself. I wanted to nuzzle that fluff already.
The guy as if read my mind. He seemed offended. He fixed the bow near his throat that was unnoticed to me till then.
"Excuse me, young lady. But you are being impolite right now,” he cleared his throat a few times and started talking." I am not certain about your purpose behind coming here. But there are some here who would not deem it wise. Please take your leave when you still have the chance,” he raised his finger and stated.
After advising me like a wise old man, the pika looked up in the sky. Even though it was daytime. The crescent moon was visible in the sky right beside the almost faded sun. The sky was looking so mystical. I had often seen the moon in the day sky before in my pack territory as well. Mostly in the afternoon when the sun was about to set. But the sky looked different. It was beautiful yet scary.
"It is the time for him to arise. When his eternal sleep will end, it will be too late to go back,” he said mysteriously.
“Time for who?” I asked him, frowning.
"Never mind, young lady. Would you mind a cup of tea with me? Today's morning is perfect for a fresh cup of tea, don't you think?” he asked me. His eyes were sparkling.
I hesitated a bit. I did not know if he was a trap or not. But I was exhausted. And it was pretty late. I needed to hide somewhere for a while. Even if he was a trap, it would not make any difference. Staying out for longer would just increase the risk of getting caught.
“Yeah, sure,” I accepted.
He started to wiggle again happily with his almost non-existent tail. I followed him to a small cottage hidden inside a large trunk of a tree.
The inside of the cottage was cute. The wooden chairs and tables were radiating vintage energy.
With his small hands, he pulled the chair for me. It was small. Though I fitted. The fragrance was coming from the teapot already. Soon he served me the tea with some cookies.
When I took the first sip, I realized that I needed the break. It was refreshing.
The pika was observing me closely.
"How is it?” he leaned on the table and asked. His eyes were glowing.
I took another sip and replied, "Good.”
“That's a relief,” he leaned back on his chair with satisfaction on his face.
"Earlier, who were you talking about?” I asked carefully.
He was busy cleaning the table. He looked up at me confusedly.
"Are you not aware, young lady?” he stopped cleaning the table and asked.
I did not respond to him. I was sitting there silently. He continued.
"I am really curious how you ended up here, young lady. What’s your name?”
“Roseanne.”
"That's a beautiful name, young lady. I’m Ezekiel, at your service.”
“So, Ezekiel, the person you were talking about—” I tried to bring back the conversation with an intention to acquire as much information as possible.
"It is really surprising to meet such a beautiful, young wolf here, in this place. It’s been long since any wolf entered here,” he cut me off and started talking. He noticed that I was getting impatient. He smirked slightly.
“Who was I talking about, you wonder? Well, who else other than the one who is right now in his eternal sleep, the man who holds the authority over all the vampires? The vampire who is feared by the world, he is Chris Wentworth,” he started getting excited and almost got up at the table in excitement.
He was overdramatic while describing. But it was indeed a shock for me. I was not expecting to hear something like this.
"The thousand years old vampire is in eternal sleep?” I asked frowning at him. The doubt was not going from my face.
Suddenly I started to feel dizzy. I tried to get up from the chair but failed.
"What did you put in that tea?” I asked angrily before fainting. I saw a smirk printed on his face before losing my consciousness completely.
