Chapter 5

"Roseanne," my wolf, Crystal, called me.

"I know how you feel. The pain is not anything less for me,” I replied silently to my wolf.

"How could he do this to us? He not only abandoned you, Rose. He is now literally hunting you down like some prey,” my wolf said.

“I sold my pack for him…if that is what he thinks, I don't want to bring him back from his narcissistic fantasies,” I gritted my teeth and replied, "I am going to prove him wrong and break every erroneous idea from the core after I rescue Liliana. Just you wait, Crystal,” I said determinedly.

I was running in my human form to maintain a low profile as much as possible so as not to draw the attention of my packmates who were currently chasing me and also the wild creatures hovering all over the place.

A Few Hours Ago I was being dragged like a felon by my packmates. Eris was not there yet. He was cleaning the woods on his way by killing the demon monsters to prevent possible interruptions.

I was yelling and sobbing a while ago. But after interpreting the situation I gave up. They would not trust me. They were blindly following their alpha. And even though they were contacting Eris frequently through the pack link informing all the updates regarding me and Liliana's disappearance, Eris was not buying anything I had to say.

I was feeling pathetic in front of my old co-fighters. I was like the villainess in front of them who just deceived her whole lineage because of her resentment.

I was looking for an escape. I had to leave before Eris would come. Any more delay and Liliana could be in severe danger. Also, Eris would just lower the chance of my escape and create more trouble for me.

I was being trained as a Luna. I achieved skills that were above the level of regular wolf training. I counted the number of my packmates quickly. Most of them were betas. Leaving the two leaders, the other betas would be easy to take care of. I started to look for an opportunity.

"I need to pee," I suddenly cried out.

The wolves turned back to me. Their ears turned red in embarrassment. Even though these guys were tough at dealing with any difficult situations, they were fricking teenagers. They did not know how to deal with such conditions with a girl. They kept looking at each other.

"Hurry! Open my cuffs if you don't want me to do this in front of you,” I said again.

“We can't. If you are thinking of escaping, drop the idea, Rose,” the leader said.

"Then open my skirt and help me with it,” I said boldly. I could not believe my own words, but I had no choice.

“What!" the guy freaked out. They were getting vicariously embarrassed.

"I am still the mate of your alpha, you know. So if you do not want to die or watch me doing something disgraceful just release me,” I threatened him.

They were looking at each other's faces confusedly.

I smirked. I knew they would not dare to lay a finger on me in an improper way. As long as Eris would not mark someone else, he would still feel if they touched me. He might have ordered them to treat me brutally but not sexually I believed. That would just create trouble for his wolf.

The guys seemed troubled. But they soon took off the cuffs.

“You cannot leave our zone. And two guys will guard you,” he said.

"How am I supposed to pee in front of two guys?” I asked again in a bored tone.

My words punched straight his head again. His face turned red again.

"Then just do it and go there," his face flushed. He was spitting nonsense.

"You got the order wrong,” I leaned close to him and said. He was cute, to be honest.

Then I turned back casually and pretended to cover myself a bit by the bushes around. I took a deep breath and turned to the two guys who were behind me prepared to attack anytime to prevent me from running away.

It was a fortunate event for me that the clouds cleared at the right moment allowing the moonlight to fall on the ground touching my long black hairs making them shine. I absorbed it all like a desert and my claws started to shift. I was still in control of my whole body. A half shift that only alphas could do. The power that I achieved after months of lunar training.

The two wolves seemed like they realized what I was about to do. But before they could make the attack, my vicious strength shoved them away on the ground just with a blow.

Without caring for anything else I started running. The other wolves were not startled. They knew something like this could happen. They were about to follow me but for some reason when I looked back, I just saw their relaxed faces, retreating to my surprise.

I did not have the chance or enough time to dig deep into the matter, so I continued my journey to the north, where the vampire castles were located. A single wolf had never walked there after the great war between the wolves and the vampires. It was said that a wolf would not even return alive once they would heed to the north.

I was aware of everything. Suddenly it hit me. Was Eris expecting my death? Did he think that I would die if I entered their area? If he believed that I handed Liliana to the vampires, then why would he feel relieved thinking of my death? That could only mean that he knew I was innocent. Yet he made the pack believe that I was the one responsible for Liliana's capture.

I was running in my human form again. I knew they were not following me anymore. I clenched my fists. He should not have gone this far just to reject me. That was a hell of a nasty trick he pulled up on me. He used Liliana's disappearance to get rid of me for good.

My wolf was howling inside because of the betrayal. I did not know how to calm her. With the grief and pain buried deep inside me with my wolf, I boosted my speed. I was at the edge of the border. I stopped and looked up. Far away the mystic castles were standing tall looking like the hat of a giant witch. I inhaled deeply.

"Your fight begins, Rose," I murmured to myself.
