Chapter 10

It was an awkward situation that we were in. The ice prince was dead. Liliana was gone. The sign of the fight that took place not too long ago was still encircling the place.

The scattered body of the ice prince made it obvious that it was none other than Eris. Also, I was still being able to detect his fragrance even though he had left the place quite a long time ago.

I looked at Chris. He was already shaking in anger clenching his fists. Suddenly he broke into laughter covering his eyes with his palm. He sounded like a maniac.

I got a chill down my spine. Right then he turned to come face to face with me. I shivered a little by his gaze.

"He dared to take what is mine," he said angrily.

The red eyes started glowing. It was visible even in the dark.

But unexpectedly he calmed himself. He back brushed his hair with his hand and looked into my eyes calmly.

"Were you not an ally of that vampire?" He asked me, indicating the ice prince's shattered pieces. "Then you would not mind providing me with all the information about that wolf as well, will you?" He leaned close to me a bit and asked in a low voice.

I was quiet. Felix was just a bystander. I did not know why they were so fixed on the idea that I brought Liliana to give her to the ice prince or whatever. If it was not for Felix, I would not even come to this territory in the first place.

"I am not going to tell you a damn thing!" I gulped and then managed to reply to him determinedly. "I am not anyone's ally. I would never come here in the first place! It's that bird who brought Liliana here. I followed him because I wanted to save her!" I pointed at Felix and yelled attempting to make him believe.

Felix seemed offended by my remarks. But he kept standing there in the same posture. As if he would not even move without the permission of his master.

Suddenly Chris cupped my face. "Fine, I trust you. Your excuses make sense. Now even if you are not a traitor, your pack seems the other way around. You are a rogue after all. So where is the barrier to reveal everything? Why do you care whatever happens to that academy?" He asked with the same chilling tone.

I realized that the barrier of manas, that was preventing the invaders, he was asking about the information to inactive it. He wanted the academy details. His target was the academy.

I had seen his army before. He was not just looking for an easy war. He wanted to destroy us from the core.

I was quiet. I did not know how to respond. He kept examining me. As if he was trying to read through my mind. All of a sudden, I realized that vampires were capable of that. They could read what the other person was thinking.

I was being trained for a Luna. It was not going to be that easy for a vampire to cross the barrier of my mind. But the man in front of me standing was a noble. He was above and beyond any regular vampire. I did not know how far he could dig deep.

I tried to think about flowers, cakes, and stuff just to keep myself on the surface level to not expose any valuable information regarding the academy.

"Weird," he said.

I looked up again to meet his gorgeous pair of eyes that were still red and glowing.

"Blocking my energy from invading inside your head?" He asked calmly looking at me with a sharp glance.

He knew. I only gulped. I felt like my end was approaching.

"You are not an alpha wolf. How come you can possess such abilities unless you have been trained with these special skills?" He leaned close to my face and asked frowning.

I was struck. There was no way he caught me. If it would be revealed that I was the Luna, everything would come to an end. Even though Eris rejected me. Still, I was his biggest weakness.

I could not get caught that easily. I had to think of something. I needed to make up something.

"I was a knight," I said.

"Knights don't get such training. Don't try to fool me. Who are you?" He asked suspiciously.

"Ah, it's the truth. They were preparing to fight you. Don't take them so lightly. Of course, they trained all the knights like this," I mumbled while lying.

They were preparing to fight him, true. But they had planned something way bigger than this and I could not let him know that at any cost.

"So, it makes you the parameter to find out how far the wolves have made a progress?" He asked smirking. His eyes were glowing again.

I was doomed. I was not even good at lying. He barely spread his hand and made a gesture and right after a few demon monsters appeared growling.

I was dumbfounded. The demon monsters were the same as before. They looked well trained and with an intelligence level above the rogue ones.

I looked at Chris confusedly in an attempt to find out what he was going to do next.

He casually turned and Felix shifted back into a Phoenix sitting on his arms. While disappearing in the woods I heard him saying, "Save yourself from them if you can. From now on, your nightmares begin. As long as you will stay alive these monsters will chase you down until you give up and come to me running to beg to destroy that academy."

Before I was being trained as a Luna, we could barely take down one demon monster at a time. And here I had to deal with two. I started to run.

After a while, I realized I was trapped. Those monsters were undoubtedly intelligent. And they were quite playing with me.

They were taking their time to checkmate and end the game for good. Exhausted, I realized they were forcing me to only run opposite to the border from where I could set myself free from this territory. I was rapidly thinking about what I could do to defeat them.

When cornered finally, I was almost on the verge of giving up. But my wolf was not ready to surrender.

I decided to fight them. I stopped and turned back to face them. I took a deep breath and shifted.

After a while, my whole body was covered in numerous cuts and scratches. They were playing with me to prolong my death.

Lying on the ground after receiving a brutal attack I was getting mad at myself for being so weak.

"I did not take lunar training for nothing," I mumbled inside.

I forced my body to get up. I was panting heavily. The injuries were taking longer to heal. I shifted back to my human form.

I bit my left wrist and grabbed it with my other hand. Blood was slowly coming out under my fingers. The demons were confused for a moment. They stopped and looked at each other's faces.

It was a training that was only for the Luna. I remembered the days when I was getting prepared to be the Luna. This was the toughest of them all.

While teaching me, my master was not confident enough that I could pull this off. It was believed that only an alpha wolf could pull this off properly. And if a wolf other than an alpha tried this, it would take their life.

Even though I learned it, I had never tried it before. It was strictly restricted for me.

I never thought I would have to use that here in a situation like this. But I would die anyway. I had no choice left.

The moment a drop of my blood touched the ground I took a deep breath and with my all concentration I screamed, "Release!"

And right away the blood that was spilling out of my bite took a shape of a large wolf. My wolf gas evolved. It was using my life force. The end of its body was still connected with my blood.

The wolf combined my life force with its power, and it created so much force that the two demons broke down into pieces.

I was feeling dizzy. The whole force was again returning to my body. I felt like it was the end. Blood and the scattered pieces of the demons were right in front of me. With one last glance, I fell to the ground.

How long I was unconscious I had no idea. When I opened my eyes, the first thing I saw was an unfamiliar roof a lot higher than usual. The cold stone floor was making me shiver.

The room was dark. A small window at a corner. The door was closed and locked from outside. Nothing else was there apart from a wooden bed and at a corner a small vessel containing water. I was captured in a cell.

I noticed my wrist. It was bandaged properly. Blood had stopped coming from the wound.

"Why am I here?" I was wondering. But I was surprised that it did not kill me. I was not an alpha, yet I successfully performed that technique.

I heard the door lock opening. Felix entered. I was captured by them again.

"Ah, you are awake!" He said looking at me.

"What are you planning to do with me, now?" I asked.

"You will soon find out," he said leaning close to me grabbing my wrist where the wound was.

It started bleeding again. Seemed like it put on an irreversible wound this time. Felix's eyes had turned red suddenly. He was looking at my wound. His eyes were glowing. For a moment he seemed so lost. His grip tightened on my wrist making it bleed more.

I cried out in pain.

His eyes turned back to normal. He shoved me away. I was looking at him confusedly.

"Disgusting," he said and looked at my blood on his hand. His eyes were glowing again. But he took the jar from the corner of the room and poured it all on his hand to rub it off.

"Was he getting excited because of my blood?" I asked my wolf inside.

"But vampires supposed to hate wolf blood," my wolf said.

"Human blood is not available anymore. Who knows if they changed their food habit as well?" I mumbled.

Felix gave me a burning glare and asked me to follow him. I came out of the room with him. We were inside the castles again. The whole castle was dark and long black velvet curtains were hanging from the windows blocking the daylight to enter.

We entered a large hall room. It was dark and empty. At the end of the hall, I saw Chris sitting on a king-sized couch.

"Congratulations," he said calmly looking at me. A smirk was playing on his lips. He was sitting casually crossing his legs, resting his chin on his hand. "You successfully passed the first level," he said. "You are an interesting toy. I did not expect a mere wolf like you to kill my trained monsters," he added.

I frowned. What in the world did he want with me? I thought.

Suddenly I started feeling a thin line of pain arising from the left side of my chest. My wolf started getting agitated. I did not let them see it, but I knew something was not right. Suddenly I remembered, Eris! Liliana was with him.

"Did they do something that they shouldn't have done?" I asked my wolf in my mind. My wolf kept scratching my insides. I got my answer. I could not feel it properly due to the distance. But I knew they were close. A drop of tear came down my eyes unconsciously.

Chris was looking at me curiously. He realized something was not right within me. I was sweating.

"Are you prepared to spill everything or do you want to try it again," Chris suddenly asked.

I looked at him confusedly. "You barely saved yourself once. Don't think I will give you the easy enemies every time. Those monsters were lower-ranked ones. If you don't cooperate, you will be doing this until you get tired and beg for your death," he leaned forward and said coldly.

His face darkened. And since then, it started. How many days had passed I had no idea? All I could remember was that they would not feed me. The whole day those demon monsters would chase me down. I gave up the idea of fighting on the very first day. They would not kill me either.

I would run for my life whole day in the woods. Exhausted, I would eat the rotten fruits lying on the ground. I would try to sit for a while, but those demons would chase me again. I tried to run away a lot of times. But the whole territory was under Chris's control. There was not a single place where I could go without being noticed. And I was just spinning inside again and again. At night they would put me back on the cell.

I was passing my days as an animal. I did not know what I did to deserve all of these. My heart would ache. But after that day I did not feel anything relating to Eris. I wondered what he was doing.
