Chapter 11

Back at the Academy Liliana was sitting in her room on the large window frame, biting her nails impatiently. She was in deep anxiety.

Since the day she returned to the academy she was blaming herself for everything. If she had not followed Roseanne that day, she would not be in such trouble. No one believed her in the academy as well. The whole academy was still thinking of her as a traitor.

Only Eris believed her. She requested Eris a lot of times to clear everything to the pack so that they would agree to go there to save Roseanne.

Eris had assured her that he would do something but since then days had passed and all he would do just check on her thrice a day. She knew it was wrong. But she couldn't say no to him either. He had always been so kind to her.

Eris entered her room again. He had brought fresh fruits, jam, and bread. Eris would always bring her food into the room, and she was forbidden to step outside since she returned to the academy. They were afraid she might do something reckless again. Eris was the one who brought this idea. He believed she would run away again to save Roseanne.

Eris smiled at her. He gave her a warm look and put down the tray on the table. He went close to Liliana. He looked outside. The academy was so high that no man's land was visible after the woods. And after that land, the vampire territory would begin.

Eris looked at Liliana. She was looking at the border.

"She is alright," he said calmly. "I can feel her wolf."

Liliana looked at him. "Then why are you not saving her?" She asked.

"We cannot leave the Academy, Liliana," he said. "You need to be protected. All they want is you. Your birthday is less than a month. We cannot take any chance."

"And what about her? Is she not your mate? How can you ignore her dangers?" Liliana asked desperately looking into his eyes.

Eris looked at her for a few seconds. He could never understand what obsession Liliana had for Roseanne.

"Liliana," he called her name softly. "Roseanne was trained to be the Luna. She is not as weak as you think. She is alright. She won't die so easily. But right now, what's important is you," he lightly grabbed her face and kissed her forehead. "Don't worry about things that you cannot control," he said.

Taking a glance at her one last time, Eris left. Liliana didn't protest. She realized that she was the reason why Roseanne left this academy. She realized that it was her who had come between Eris and Roseanne.

A bird came and sat on the window frame and started chirping. Liliana looked at that and started mumbling, “If I can make a deal with the devil, there wouldn't be a reason for the devil to create a war. Eris and Roseanne will not have to leave each other. Everyone in the academy could be saved."

The bird was looking at her confusedly. She happily rubbed its belly. It got afraid and flew away. All she needed to do was now to sneak away from the academy.

Eris came to his room. He was frustrated. He knew something was not right. His wolf was getting dominant as the days were passing. He could her wolf cry out in pain. She was in danger. He assured Liliana that Roseanne would be alright. But deep inside he knew she was not.

She was facing troubles every day. But he could not let his emotions get control over him. He was so close. Only a few days. If he could mark Liliana after she turned 18, Chris would fail to achieve his goal. Her blood would get impure, and it would be impossible for him to prolong his life with her blood. And he could finally end his life with his own two hands.

The reign of the vampires would end for good. And he could spend the rest of his life with the love of his life.

Eris had always a soft place in his heart for Liliana. When the affection turned into love he couldn't fathom. He knew it won't be accepted easily.

At first, he believed when he would find his mate, he would be able to restrict his desires. But then it was revealed that Roseanne, a mere beta wolf was his mate.

He had not noticed Roseanne before. They had seen each other a lot of times before they turned 16. But that girl was nothing special to grab his attention. Besides Rose had a cold attitude. She would also not follow him around unlike the other girls in the academy.

He never liked women who had no warmth within them. But alas! It had to be Roseanne. He was not happy. As he was an alpha, he had this privilege. His wolf couldn't get forceful with his feelings. And the more he would see Roseanne, the more he would realize how elegant and fresh Liliana was.

He exhaled deeply. But this possession was not as easy as he thought would be. Even if he wanted to concentrate on Liliana only, Rose's pains were getting bigger day by day. He could not just simply ignore it. What in the world she was doing there? And why did those vampires still keep her alive? His face darkened while solving all the equations.

He knew the vampires would try to get information from Rose. Particularly about the mana barrier that was keeping the academy safe from the invaders. Roseanne was a knight before. She knew how to endure everything without spilling.

He had that much trust that Rose would not betray the pack, no matter how hateful she was. She would not let the world get destroyed just to get her revenge. He knew everything yet he let the academy believe in everything. Because he knew the moment truth would be revealed, his father would declare war against the vampires and try to rescue Roseanne. But after all these years he could not let that happen. Just a few days and that vampire would be destroyed. A war before that would just bring hurdles for their sides.

He was aware that he was being selfish. But he was not being able to fathom why they would keep her alive. It was unlike them. A wolf never survived more than a day in that realm.

He sat on the couch. He was exhausted. He closed his eyes. He could feel her wolf. She was in danger. She was running. She needed him. But he just shoved away all the feelings.
