Chapter 9
"You are coming with us," Chris said coldly.
Just a moment ago it was revealed that the worst possible outcome I was afraid of was right in front of me. I was still traumatized.
Not too long ago the Phoenix explained all the pros and cons of my encounter with him.
"Your bride came along with this woman, my lord," the Phoenix said to Chris pointing towards me. Chris was listening to him calmly. "I believe she brought her here to hand her over to the ice prince. But your bride seemed comfortable with her and that shakes my assumption. But upon watching the wolves chasing her, I am now once again uncertain about her intentions," he stopped.
"Are you a traitor?" Chris asked me again bestowing me a chilling glare. Crossing his arms over his chest.
I scrunched my nose in disgust. I frowned and looked away and said to my wolf in my mind, "Worse circumstances are yet to come when I will have the necessity to explain myself to a nasty vampire."
My wolf purred inside happily. She hated the vampires. She was ready to jump over them any moment. But I possessed a human brain as well and I knew I couldn't just act on my animal instincts to get slaughtered.
I felt a cold pair of hands over my shoulder. I was forced to stand up on my feet. The Phoenix grabbed my wrists and tied them up on my back. They took me as a hostage with them to kill the so-called ice prince or the white-haired vampire.
"Come with us," Chris said again. "Think I found a new toy," he said smirking.
My jaw dropped as soon as I stepped outside the castle. A massive army of hundreds of demon monsters was standing bowing their heads. Creatures of different variations kneeling there in front of Chris. They all were armed. And their stature was making it obvious that their intelligence was above the rogue ones roaming around in the woods outside of this territory.
"Is this why I didn't see any demon monsters since I stepped inside this territory?" I gulped.
The vampire territory was nothing like the Crescent academy. They were stronger, way stronger than us. And the terrifying thing above that was they were obedient. They were listening to the person who was the biggest enemy of the existence of the wolves at that moment.
The Phoenix whistled and a carriage appeared in front of us right away. Two demon monsters were riding the mounts.
The Phoenix pushed me indicating to enter the carriage. He and Chris followed me later inside the carriage.
It was confined inside the carriage for three people. Chris was seating in front of me. And the Phoenix sat beside me. As the carriage started to move it was becoming harder for me to maintain my balance without falling over the phoenix's body.
"Can you turn into a bird again?” I asked him, frowning.
He gave me a death glare. “I am not a bird," he said coldly.
"Yeah sure, if you were a bat, I would not. Bats are not supposed to be called birds. But you are not even a bat," I mumbled.
He sent me death glares and Chris was just sitting there calmly crossing his legs. Observing me closely.
When we started going deep into the territory, I was astonished. I was wondering only at the surface level till then. The vampire territory was enormous. The places deep inside were a lot different from what I had seen earlier.
Suddenly the Phoenix got impatient. His agitating behavior did not go unnoticed to us as well. I looked at him confusedly.
Chris was calm like before.
"Did you sense him?" He asked calmly.
"He just crossed the border," the Phoenix said.
I couldn't fathom how strong his senses were to get such information sitting here, miles away from the border.
I assumed they were talking about the white-haired vampire.
"Is the girl with him?" Chris asked again in a bored tone.
"I believe she is," the Phoenix said.
"Then why are you looking tensed?" Chris asked again coldly.
"I can also feel the presence of a greater force," he said calmly.
"Felix," Chris called him calmly. For the first time, I came to know the phoenix's name.
"Go and stop him right there. Make sure he doesn't go any further," he ordered.
Right away Felix nodded and broke open the side of the carriage. Within a glance, he transformed into a massive Phoenix and disappeared into the woods.
I was confused. I didn't know what was lingering for me next. Chris tapped the carriage slightly and it stopped moving right away.
"It's time to go," he smirked at me and got up.
He grabbed me like an object and within a glance started running within the woods at a pace that I couldn't keep my consciousness. I closed my eyes and my muscles got stiffed.
Even though I was in the category of the species with a fast pace, his pace was far beyond the highest level of the fastest wolf in our pack.
But things just got messier after that. My head was feeling dizzy. When he stopped, I didn't even realize until he threw me over the ground. I was already feeling nauseous. I arched in pain. He was not gentle with his gestures at all. He hated me.
I felt something odd about the situation. I quickly grabbed myself and turned back to see what happened.
The atmosphere was cold. I saw Felix standing. A dark shade was swerving over Chris's face. They were irritated.
I looked around to see where we were. I didn't recognize the place completely. But I was certain that it was one of those no man's land between the wolf and the vampire territories.
I looked at the road where we were standing. At first, I could fathom why they stopped in the middle and what was the possible source of their irritation.
Something glittering laying over the pitched black grabbed my attention. It was glistening like diamonds. When I got a bit closer, I realized that ice scattered over the place.
When I took steps further, I realized it was not just regular ice scattered in the place. I remembered what my master back in the academy used to say.
"The vampires never die. They scatter."
I gulped. They were calling the white-haired guy the "ice prince." Was it him, I wondered?
Chris greeted his teeth and angrily threw a fist at the large trunk of the tree beside him.
