Chapter 25 My misfortune
~HAN’S MORGAN~
One week ago, when I left the Lunskye Pack to get Amelia the diary my late Mum left, something unexpected happened.
Because the Packs weren't too far from each other, about a three-hour drive, I chose to go by the road instead of taking the plane, which would only take about thirty minutes to arrive at the Arkonix Pack.
That was the biggest mistake I have ever made in my traveling years. I should have gone by plane, but my adventurous self wanted to go by road, and I got into a huge problem.
At first, the rise was smooth, and I enjoyed Amelia’s favorite song while thinking about her. Suddenly, the car jerked off in the middle of nowhere, and smoke filled the air when I got out of the vehicle to check the bonnet.
The smoke was mixed with wolfsbane, a poison created to weaken wolves. Before I could react and return to the car, the main ingredient, napellus, had entered my nostrils.
My vision blurred, and my head spun. I thought I would manage to leave that place, but I couldn't. And from the forest at the side of the road, I saw groups of wolves running towards my car.
They were all brown, and their eyes were as red as fire.
“Rogues!” Kael growled, but neither of us could move our limbs anymore.
I passed out completely, and when I opened my eyes later, I was locked up in a dark room that reeked of blood and mud.
While trying to navigate through the room to locate the door, my hands plunged into a thick liquid on the floor.
I brought the hand to my nose to find out what that was, and it was blood.
Goosebumps grew on my skin, and my heart thudded against my chest.
“We are in trouble!” I whispered to Kael, but he could only groan. It appeared the poison hadn't left him yet.
Suddenly, horrible voices sounded outside, and feet thumped on the wooden floor.
I steadied myself, waiting for whoever was coming into that room. And when the door flew open, the light shone in my eyes, causing a sharp pain.
“He is awake!”
One of the rogues said, and they all burst into laughter.
I wondered what was funny to them: holding me hostage or the fact that I was covered in blood that wasn't mine.
They were huge, and three combined was the perfect way to describe my Wolfe, Kael. And if they are as huge as that, what about their wolves?
“Is he awake?”
Another horrible sound came from the door.
One look at him, and my jaw dropped. My fingers clenched into a fist, and my face turned into fury.
“How dare you, Rowan!”
My voice cracked up in the room like a thunderclap, piercing the walls. It shook the ceiling, and the fan came rolling down.
I saw a glint of fear flash in Rowan’s eyes and disappear in a second. That dude got scared by my growl. What if he takes my fist?
“He is a wild animal!” He said to his boys, and they burst into laughter again.
Me, a wild animal?
I sprang up to dash towards him, but fell back as Kael was as weak as a newborn pup who took a long time to come out of its mama’s uterus.
Seeing that, Rowan chuckled, threw the roasted leg of a goat in his hand, and snapped his fingers.
One of the rogues handed him a giant syringe and needle, filled with a green, thick liquid. That was wolfsbane, and those things could kill my wolf if that dosage is injected into me.
Fear gripped me, and I started drawing back, shaking my head. My eyes were so wide in anxiety, yet Rowan ordered his men to hold me down.
They grabbed both my legs and hands, pinned me on the floor, and Rowan came close.
“This week, I will attack the Lunskye Pack and kill Amelia Brook, who calls herself an Alpha.”
My eyes snapped, and my teeth clenched in anger.
“If you dare lay your filthy claws on my Luna, you will be done for!” I spat on his face, wanting to tear him into pieces, but I was too weak to do it.
“You are kidding me, right?” he burst into laughter, raining the syringe in the air.
“Say your last word, Alpha. Your Pack will be next after I conquer the Lunskye Pack. Your twin brother will be so easy to buy. Everyone knows how much he hates you and Amelia, so it won't be hard for me to convince him.”
Before I could say a word, he released the syringe and punched my left thigh.
“Noooo!” Kael let out a roar, then his voice started fading. My legs went numb, and before I knew what was happening, I passed out again.
When I woke up a few days later, the place I was locked in was silent. There were no loud voices, laughter, or footsteps. And the door was even left open.
Swiftly, I crawled to the door, supported my weight on the handle, and stood on my feet.
My left leg still felt so numb, and my head hurt a lot. But I was lucky that I was finally going to escape from them.
However, I tried reaching out to Kael, but got no response from him.
“Kael?” When I called, my voice echoed in an empty hole.
Fears gripped me, and I started having these stupid thoughts about Kael. What if he died from the poison? The amount they injected into me was enough to kill those wolves at the same time.
I can't lose Kael; there is no way I will live for more than one year if Kael is dead. And Amelia? I love her, haven't confessed my feelings, and haven't marked her yet.
But all that will be impossible if Kael is no more. I need him to mark my mate, our mate.
“Kael!
I screamed, hitting my chest so hard that it started aching, but I got no response from him.
I kept banging my chest, but it echoed like a drum.
Suddenly, I remembered the attack. Rowan said he was going to attack the Lunskye Pack. Is that where they all went?
