Chapter 24 Attack on a full moon festival.
It has been over a week since Hans said he would go to Arkonix Pack to get his late Mum’s diary for me.
But he hasn't returned, which is so weird. Also, his phone hasn't connected, and Amy could not mind-link Kael.
Has something happened to Hans? But I doubt he would fall into trouble.
Hans is strong, and he can defeat any attack he brings.
Had I not seen his power, I would have been so worried that something must have happened to him.
“I am worried, Amelia,” Amy said sadly. I am also worried and scared Hans will fall into trouble.
I could have mind-linked him directly if we were true mates. I have fallen in love with Hans and want to be his real mate.
But there is no way I can tell him directly that I love him and want him to mark me. What if he doesn't have that feeling? What if he looks down on me and thinks I am cheap?
Nah! I will pass this time. Let's wait and see if he will confess his feelings to me.
“Alpha Amelia? It's time for the ceremony.”
Oh, great! Where on earth is Hans?
I can not go out without him, as it will cause a lot of suspicion.
“Quick, try again, Amy. Try to see if you can get through Kael now.”
Amy tried again, but got the same feedback as usual.
“We just have to go without him; everyone is waiting.”
Yeah, sure. The ceremony can start without him, but I must be prepared for the rumors.
A few minutes after the ceremony had begun, a thick, woody scent filled the air. It was so weird because none of the wolves in my Pack had that scent. Not even the new teens who had let out their wolves a few minutes ago.
What could be going wrong?
My eyes darted to where the war general sat; he also seemed to have perceived the scent. And his expression showed something was wrong somewhere.
The members started sniffing the air one after the other, and their eyes became terrified.
“Rogues!”
General Lykon growled, getting up from the chair.
My heart skipped a beat, and I sprang up. How? The borders have been sealed with warriors; they wouldn't have come through that way.
Also, my order shut down the plane from the Valtorium Pack to the Lunskye Pack. How on earth did they find their way into my Pack?
Hearing the rogues, they all started panicking, staggering, and howling in fear.
The growl from the rogues filled the air, shaking the whole city. And hearing those loud growls indicated that there were many in numbers.
This is terrifying. How could they attack without warning!
“Alpha Amelia?” the war General called, hurrying towards me.
“Gather your warriors, and…”
Bang!
The mighty door of the training ground where we were all gathered fell with a loud thud.
Before we could understand what was happening, Rogues flew in through the huge dust, growling as they landed on their paws.
My life flashed before my eyes at that moment. Thousands of them were ready to pounce on the innocent wolves in my Pack.
But I can't allow that to happen; I must protect them at all costs.
“Amy!” I bellowed, and she jumped out. Swiftly, all the warriors transformed into their wolves, shielding the Pack members.
Unfortunately, many didn't come to the ceremony; they are in their houses, and I fear what might happen to them.
“What should we do now? Some warriors are at the borders, and only a few are left here.”
Oh my! This is terrible!
A loud laugh broke out from among the rogues, and the moment I turned there, a gasp broke out from my mouth.
That must be Rowan; that idiot really kept to his word.
“You thought I was joking when I said I would attack you?” A thousand laughs filled the air, echoing around the Pack.
“Quick, see if you can reach the warriors from the border.”
The war general nodded his head. But as soon as he dialed a number, the rogues jerked forward, attacking the innocents.
My heart leaped, and my breath became abnormal as I witnessed my Pack members being launched in the air, blood spilling, and heads flying.
“This is horrible!” The general jumped forward, transformed into his giant wolf, and attacked a rogue.
He tore, slammed, spun, and bit with his mighty teeth.
The more I watched that horrible scene, the angrier my blood raged.
How could he?
“Alpha Amelia, watch out!”
Someone screamed from the crowd, and before I could turn around, I found myself flying to the ground.
My shoulder hit the ground with a loud thud, sending an excruciating pain into my chest and head.
My vision became blurred, but I saw the rogue trying to jump on me.
That is Rowan, and there is no way I could allow Rowan to humiliate me this way.
“Amy!”
I screamed, and she took control of me. As Rowan’s wolf jumped towards me, she clutched her fan in his arm and slammed him on the table, scattering all the bottles.
Rowan’s eyes widened in shock, staring at her from where he lay. But he stood up, glaring at Amy with his red fiesty eyeballs.
“You can not embarrass me today, Amelia. I will
Kill you!” he growled, waving his front paws.
Then we shall see who kills whom today.
He jumped forward, opening his mouth so wide as he aimed at her head, but Amy dodged, and he flew and slammed into another table.
My vision started to blur out, and that started to affect Amy. However, she stood still, trying as hard as she could not to fall.
With the last strength in her, she embedded her teeth in Rowan’s shoulder, yanked off his left hand, and kicked him on the wall.
Rowan screamed as his hand was pulled off his body. His red, fiery eyes started fading out, and finally, his eyes shut, and his head dropped on his shoulder.
“We killed him!” Amy whispered faintly before collapsing on the ground.
