Chapter 26 Too late to help
Even though I had no idea where that tranch house was located, I limped through the thick, long woods, supporting myself with the trees.
For hours, I limped, fighting for breath, and finally, I saw a flicker of light ahead of me.
I increased my pace, falling and picking myself up again and again. The only thing I was worried about was Amelia.
I don't want her to be hurt, I don't want to lose her. Amelia can kill Rowan, but he will attack with rogues like him.
What if they overpower her? What if they attack unexpectedly?
For today's full moon festival, Amelia and the Pack wolves will gather together.
“Kael, please answer me. I need your help. I need you to mind-link Amy and warn them of what is coming after them!”
Hopelessly, tears flowed down my face. Kael can't die; we need to save Amelia and Amy.
The light grew bigger and bigger until I was out of the woods. As soon as I reached the street, I saw my car, which had been left there a week before.
The doors were opened, the bonnet lifted, and even the lights were turned on, but nobody was in the car or anywhere close.
After I was sure that no one was hiding in that car, I got in, and luckily, it started.
I turned towards the Lunskye Pack, driving at high speed, not caring about my left leg, which couldn't press the brake.
A drive that could take two hours took just thirty minutes. And the moment I drove inside the Pack, my heart nearly jumped out of my mouth.
The Pack was a mess, people lying everywhere in the street, covered in blood, and others were injured, crying bitterly.
Some houses were burning in flames, while some tall buildings had collapsed.
“Alpha Hans!”
Someone called from the crowd, wailing.
“They attacked us and killed us!”
My heart stilled, and I walked down the streets like a walking corpse. Amelia can not die, no, she can't.
Unexpectedly, my strength started gushing back into my body like an electric shock. I took to my heels, racing as fast as I could, screaming Amelia’s name.
When I ran past the company, it was down, and the building had collapsed.
Then I remembered that today was the moon festival, and she must have been in the training ground.
I raced there, praying to the Moon Goddess to save my beloved future Mate.
Just like the rest of the Pack, the training ground was filled with corpses, covered in blood, and dead wolves, whose limbs or heads were plunged.
The rogues were lying lifelessly among the Lunskye wolves, limbs and heads out of their bodies.
At the far end of the training ground, the stage where the Alpha and top rank leaders sit, I saw a massive grey wolf lying on the ground.
My heartbeat returned, and I dashed towards the wolf.
“Amelia?”
I took Amy’s head on my thigh, tapping her face, but got no response.
Then I reached for her ear, positioned my mouth, and screamed into it.
“Come out, Amelia! I am back! Hans is back!”
I broke down in tears, wailing bitterly.
Years ago, I lost my parents. Now my wolf isn't responding, and today, I can't lose Amelia; she cannot die.
“Amy, bring Amelia to me. I want to talk to her,”
I held her head to my chest, stroking her fur as I cried so hard.
A few minutes later, her fur brushed my hand, and her tail was moving when I opened my eyes.
My heart leaped, and I held her face.
“Amy? Are you hearing me?”
Slowly, her eyelids parted, and she opened her weak eyes.
“Thank goodness!” I gasped in relief, throwing my head backward.
“Amy, please bring Amelia over, let her take control.”
She closed her eyes again, and like a flash of lightning, Amelia fell into my arms.
“Hans?” Her voice was so low, and her eyes couldn't open widely.
“Amelia?” I sniffled, wiping the tears on my face.
Tears flowed down her face, and she slowly parted her lips.
“Rowan attacked us; he killed my Pack members.”
Rowan! I swear, I will attack the Valtorium Pack and kill Rowan.
“Rowan will fall into my hands, Amelia. I will kill him for you.” I bit my lower lip in anger.
However, she shook her head slowly, shut her eyes, and opened them.
“Look over there,” She pointed towards the wall, “I killed him.” She smiled, shut her eyes, and didn't open them again.
I was shocked to the marrow when I saw Rowan’s wolf covered in blood, its limb plunged out of its body.
Amelia killed him? I know she could, and I am so proud of my girl.
“Alpha Hans?” Delta Lykon called, limping towards me with a sword in his hand.
“Where have you been? Rowan and his men attacked us,” he sighed deeply.
“Look, Alpha Hans, our people are gone; only a few remain alive.”
The Valtorium Pack is in soup! Rowan has caused them a lifetime of pain and torture. The Valtorium Pack will account for destroying this Pack.
“Where are the soldiers from the borders?” I asked, cleaning the tears on Amelia’s face.
“Still at the borders, Alpha Hans, they didn't know we were being attacked.”
“On my command, send troops to seal off Valtorium Pack; no wolves should be allowed to leave that Pack. When that is done, wait for my next command!”
“Yes, Alpha Hans,”
He bowed his head and limped away.
I carried Amelia in my arms and returned her to the Packhouse, which, luckily, wasn't touched by the Rogues.
Surprisingly, some Pack members sat in groups all over the Packhouse. Even Axel was there, together with his family.
How did they get to hide in the Packhouse when others were in their various homes, and some were in the training ground?
Did they know about the incoming attack and come to hide in the Packhouse? There were more than a thousand of them there.
