Chapter 184 Entrusting Her with Full Authority

Charlotte suddenly felt nervous as she followed Jason to take a seat, her eyes darting over the two men.

Jason calmly greeted, "Greetings, Mr. Lloyd. How are you grandparents?"

"After my grandpa passed away, my grandma has been calm. She's now taken care of. Thank you for your concern, Mr. Langley," Cyril replied politely and detachedly.

After he finished speaking, he turned to look at Charlotte and took the initiative to exchange pleasantries with her. "It was only when I met her in person that I realized that there is indeed a strong resemblance. My family is very happy to find my sister. They're asked me to come here and bring you back."

Charlotte was caught off guard when he directly stated the purpose of his trip.

She froze for a split second before quickly declining, "Mr. Lloyd, you may have misunderstood. I have no idea about being Ms. Lloyd. I've already talked to Mrs. Lloyd. You'll just pretend I don't exist."

Cyril's eyes slightly narrowed. His gold-rimmed glasses reflected the light, hiding the complex emotions in his eyes. With a forced smile, he said, "You should also know that we can't pretend as if nothing happened just because you said so."

Charlotte didn't know if he treated her as a little bunny that needed Jason's protection. His tone was very sharp as he was so close to cutting to the chase and asking for Charlotte's promise that she wouldn't return to the family.

Charlotte's face turned cold and she asked without answering, ''Mr. Lloyd, I thought you were meeting Mr. Langley about the cooperation. It seems the cooperation is not important to you."

Cyril did not expect her to put on this expression. He froze at first and then showed amusement on his face. His expression was gentle, but the words he said were harsh. "The cooperation is indeed not important."

Charlotte was stunned. Could he really say that? It was like Cyril openly declared that he didn't take Jason seriously.

She looked sideways at Jason, who had his eyes downcast, his complexion faint. She couldn't tell his opinion, but she clearly knew that Jason was angry.

Jason put down his drink and leisurely said, "Since it's not important, then there's no need for us to talk. Mr. Lloyd, you should bring her back as soon as possible. Your family should be a mess right now."

The Lloyd family's head had just passed away. The family had countless troubles to deal with. Otherwise, they wouldn't have come to Charlotte in a hurry.

His words poked at Cyril's heart.

Jason was already getting up when he said painlessly, "Mr. Lloyd, since you don't want the domestic market, Langley Group will be happy to take it."

Cyril had returned to the country with the intention of testing Charlotte and opening the domestic market to gain a foothold, which was more important.

"Mr. Langley, since you're already here, there's no need to leave in such a hurry." Cyril cared about his prestige and deliberately evaded the crucial point.

However, Jason just signaled Charlotte to follow him, his gaze was indifferent. "Let's meet again when you're ready to talk, Mr. Lloyd."

Until walking out of the restaurant, Charlotte was still confused since what they were doing was already beyond the scope of her etiquette as a secretary. "Mr. Langley, can we really treat him like this? If nothing goes wrong, he will be the heir of the Lloyd family, which is a big family with great business. Langley Group will work with him, right?"

Jason started the car without a word and drove out for a few minutes before replying indifferently, "I don't like the way he speaks to you."

Charlotte thought of Cyril's gloomy and scornful eyes hidden under his lenses just now. She was quite frank when she said, "I disappeared for almost thirty years and suddenly appeared to share a big portion of the family fortune. I understand why he's aloof to me."

If nothing went wrong, her birth mother's share would be naturally divided to the heir while Charlotte was absent, regardless of whether it was voluntary or not.

Charlotte did not see the atmosphere in the car easing after she finished speaking. After dwelling on what she should say, she slowly asked, "Mr. Langley, are you defending me?"

He turned his head and darted a quick look that said, "What the hell are you talking about?" in no uncertain terms.

Charlotte was much happier and smiled. "Then I have to thank Mr. Lloyd for giving you the chance to defend me, Mr. Langley."

Jason's steering wheel suddenly crooked and then immediately back to the right. When he noticed her smile, he couldn't help but say, "You still have the leisure to joke. With Cyril around, things will not be so simple."

Now, Charlotte wouldn't get to choose whether to return to the family or not.

On the contrary, Charlotte didn't care much. "Don't worry, Mr. Langley. It won't delay my work. Even if I end up leaving, I will still train a perfect secretary to take over my position."

"Cyril can't take anyone from me," Jason decisively said.

Charlotte felt touched. Her heart was filled with softness as she responded with a slight smile, "Then it seems like I'll have to please you more."

Upon hearing this, Jason naturally sized her up.

She hastily pointed at the wound and gestured, "The doctor has instructions for me."

Right now, she wasn't sure about Jason's attitude toward her, so she could only keep hiding her pregnancy as long as possible.

Jason looked back and concentrated on driving.

The next day, Cyril brought the contract and Stella to Langley Group. Sitting upright in the conference room, he apologized to Charlotte with a friendly attitude. He was totally different from the way he was the day before.

Charlotte looked at the expensive apology gift in front of her and directly pushed it back. "Thank you for the trouble, Mr. Lloyd, but I don't need these. Mr. Langley will come over right away."

Cyril seemed to expect her to refuse. He nodded and added: "I heard Aunt Bonnie say that Stella has caused you a lot of trouble. I brought her over to apologize."

Saying this, he looked at Stella.

Stella pursed her lips and reluctantly apologized, "Ms. Seinfield, I'm sorry for offending you."

Charlotte felt helpless and directly cleared things up. "Mr. Lloyd, I'm not sure of your motives for doing this, but you don't need to feel threatened. I merely did the paternity test to return Mrs. Lloyd's favor. I won't be going back or getting in your way. As for Ms. Lloyd's apology, this is the second time I've heard her apologize, but it doesn't change anything. If you really feel sorry, don't get involved with me again."

She didn't leave any mercy, causing Stella to feel disgraced. It was as if Stella was being unreasonable.

Stella couldn't help but retort, but when she saw Jason walk in, she held back the urge to do so and put on an aggrieved look instead. Then, she stood to the side with her head hung down in silence.

Jason's eyes had a complicated look when he looked at Stella. He felt vaguely regretful but did not dwell on it. He looked back at Cyril and said, "It seems you're ready, Mr. Lloyd."

"This is the revised contract." Cyril immediately devoted himself to work and talked eloquently.

Charlotte listened to their conversation at the side. She had to give Cyril credit for his remarkable ability. If she were in Jason's position, she would have been convinced.

It was a pity that his opponent was Jason.

Jason stood firm and exchanged words with Cyril unhurriedly.

Halfway through the conversation, Cyril suddenly said, "If you really can't rest assured, I can entrust Ms. Seinfield with full authority, Mr. Langley."

Jason grew silent for a short while, glanced at Charlotte, who was stunned, and calmly asked, "Why would you make such a decision, Mr. Lloyd?"

Cyril spread his hands and replied with a sense of relief, "Ms. Seinfield is also a kin of the Lloyd family, and she'll do a good job in representing the Lloyd family. I'm just allaying your concerns and showing my sincerity, Mr. Langley."
