Chapter 170 The Final Strike
Chapter 170 The Final Strike
Kieran and Alex continued fighting, neither of them willing to back down. Their movements became faster and more aggressive as they attacked each other repeatedly, knocking things over and scattering everything around the throne area.
The hall that had been beautifully decorated for my coronation was now a complete mess.
Chairs had been pushed aside, tables were overturned, and some of the decorations had fallen to the floor. The golden pillar that had been used for our mating ceremony stood nearby, but everything around it had been disturbed by the fight.
The old Alpha was immediately carried out of the hall by the maids.
I had asked them to take him back to his room because I didn't want him to stress himself or witness the fight. He was already weak, and the last thing I wanted was for his condition to become worse because of what was happening.
Once they had taken him away, I turned my attention back to Kieran and Alex.
They were still fighting.
Everyone else had already run out of the hall, leaving only a few of the Alphas behind. They stood at a safe distance, watching the two wolves attack each other.
“Please, someone stop them!” I cried.
I tried to run toward them, but Victor suddenly grabbed my hands and held me back.
“No, don't. Don't try it,” he said firmly.
I struggled slightly against his grip.
“Victor, let me go. I need to stop them.”
“No. Just look at them.”
I turned toward Kieran and Alex again.
They were no longer fighting like two people who could reason with each other. They were attacking with pure anger, and every movement was becoming more dangerous.
“You can see now that they are partially out of their senses,” Victor continued. “They aren't thinking clearly. Kieran could easily jump on you without recognizing you because he is deeply angry and filled with rage because of what Alex tried to do to you.”
I looked at Kieran, my heart hurting as I watched him fight.
I knew he was angry because Alex had tried to hurt me, but I didn't want him to get seriously injured either.
“I will still step in,” I insisted.
Victor shook his head.
“No. Just hold on. Don't panic. Let them fight for now.”
I swallowed hard.
I wanted to trust him, but watching Kieran and Alex attack each other made it difficult to remain calm.
I had never imagined that my coronation would turn into this.
Only moments ago, everyone had been celebrating. We had completed our mating ceremony, people were dancing, food was being served, and I had been smiling beside Kieran.
Now the entire hall looked as though a battle had taken place inside it.
I looked around and suddenly realized that I needed to know what was happening outside.
The soldier had already told us that the pack village was under attack.
I couldn't simply stand there and wait.
I quickly turned away from the fight and ran out of the hall.
The moment I stepped outside, my heart sank.
Several soldiers were lying lifeless on the ground.
I stopped for a moment, staring at them in disbelief. These were people who had been protecting our pack only minutes ago, and now they were lying on the ground because of this attack.
I quickly looked around.
Coming out from the back of the pack house, I saw a small fire burning. Smoke was rising into the air while some of our soldiers were fighting against Alex's soldiers.
There were far more of them than I had expected.
The battle was spreading throughout the area, and soldiers were fighting from different directions. Some were trying to protect the pack house, while others were attempting to push Alex's soldiers away from the village.
I could hear the sounds of swords clashing and people shouting instructions.
The sight terrified me.
There were dead bodies scattered across the area, belonging to different soldiers from both sides. Some of our soldiers were still fighting despite their injuries, while others were helping the wounded move away from the fighting.
I stood there, struggling to understand how everything had changed so quickly.
How was this going to stop?
How could something that had started as a celebration turn into a battle in such a short amount of time?
One minute, I was enjoying my coronation, surrounded by people who were celebrating with me, and the next minute, everywhere I turned had become a fighting zone.
I ran back toward the hall where Kieran and Alex were still fighting, my heart pounding as I hurried through the hallway. I wanted to see what was happening, but I also couldn't stop thinking about everything I had just witnessed outside.
As I got closer, I suddenly noticed the head maid.
She was walking through the chaos as though nothing was happening around her.
There were flames burning nearby, soldiers running around, and bodies lying on the ground, yet she calmly walked through everything with a strange smile on her face.
I slowed down when I saw her.
She looked directly at me.
“Didn't I tell you that you were going to regret this?”
I blinked, and her words immediately reminded me of what she had said earlier.
“Good luck having a peaceful celebration you will never forget.” My eyes widened.
How? Was she among the people who had helped Alex?
“You betrayer,” I said angrily. “You are going to pay for this.”
She smiled before reaching into her clothes and pulling out a knife.
My heart immediately started beating faster.
“No,” she said calmly. “Before anyone sees this, or before you get the chance to tell anyone, you are going to die peacefully. Just like the way I killed Helena.”
My entire body froze. “What did you say?”
She stared at me with a strange satisfaction on her face.
“What do you mean you killed Helena?” I asked, barely believing what I had heard.
She laughed softly.
“You're funny. Yes, the Beta tried to kill her, but she survived. I found her at the horse stable, struggling.”
My breathing became heavier.
I couldn't take my eyes off her.
“I would have saved her,” she continued, “but then I gave her a peaceful poison. She disgraced me by getting pregnant. So, just like the way Helena died, you are going to die peacefully.”
My heart broke at her confession.
Helena. She had been dead because of this woman.
All this time, I had wondered what had really happened to her, and now I was standing in front of the person who had taken her life.
“You killed her?” I whispered.
The head maid raised the knife. I instinctively stepped backward.
She was about to stab me when she suddenly stopped. Her entire body went still.
Her hand remained raised in the air, but her expression changed.
Blood suddenly gushed from her mouth.
I stared at her in confusion. What was happening?
Then I saw Clara walking toward me.
She looked completely focused as she approached, and the moment she reached me, she ran toward me and held me tightly.
“Hope you are not hurt?” she asked.
I looked back at the head maid.
Only then did I notice the knife lying on the ground. Clara had thrown it at her.
“Clara, you just killed her,” I said, still shocked.
“She was about to kill you,” Clara replied. “She deserves everything.”
I looked toward the head maid again.
She slowly lost her balance and fell to the ground.
Within moments, she stopped moving.
I stared at her, still trying to process everything that had just happened.
“Did you see?” Clara said. “She confessed that she killed her own niece. Who is more horrible than that?”
I swallowed hard.
I was still shaken by the revelation about Helena.
I couldn't believe that the woman who had been walking around the palace had secretly been responsible for her death.
Clara held my arms.
“Come on. We need to get back.”
I nodded, and together we ran toward the hall.
When we returned, the fight between Kieran and Alex was still going on.
But things had changed.
Alex was bleeding from one of his legs, and he was limping badly. Blood was running down his foot, making it difficult for him to move properly.
Kieran, on the other hand, looked angrier than ever.
His eyes were red, and his expression was filled with rage as he lunged toward Alex again.
I stood there, watching in fear. Alex was already struggling.
I could sense that he was getting weaker with every movement.
Kieran attacked him again, and the force of the attack sent Alex backward.
I froze when I saw the injury on Alex's hand.
He was clearly losing the fight.
A moment later, Alex slowly began turning back into his human form. He moved toward the corner, struggling to stand properly, but his body was already weak from the fight.
Kieran also returned to his human form.
In our pack, there was a rule that an Alpha could not attack another Alpha while he was still transforming between his human and wolf forms. Both Alphas had to be in the same form if they were going to continue fighting.
Neither of them could use the other's transformation as an advantage.
Alex crawled across the floor, trying to move away.
He barely managed to get a few feet before Kieran reached him.
Kieran had barely any injuries compared to Alex.
I had never seen this side of him before.
He looked completely different from the man who had been smiling beside me during our coronation.
His face was hard, his eyes were red, and there was no hesitation in his movements.
Victor stood beside me and watched the scene.
“I told you he was going to kill him,” he whispered. “I knew Alex was very small for Kieran to deal with. Kieran has dealt with ten thousand soldiers. So who is Alex?”
I looked at Kieran again.
Despite everything that had happened, relief washed over me when I realized that he was still alive and barely injured.
At least he was safe. Kieran grabbed Alex by the hair and pulled him up slightly.
“The only mistake I made was not killing you the first day you came here,” he said coldly. “You dare to try to raise your sword at Elara. You have to go back to where you came from, which is the other world.”
Alex couldn't respond. He looked exhausted, and blood was running from his nose and mouth.
Kieran struck him again, and Alex fell back to the ground.
I stood frozen, unable to look away.
There was nothing left of the confident Alpha who had walked into our celebration earlier.
Kieran reached down and grabbed the sword that was lying beside Alex.
My heart suddenly started beating faster.
I knew what he was about to do. Kieran raised the sword.
Before I could say anything, he brought it down, beheading him.
Alex's body went still. Blood splashed across the floor, and my eyes widened.
I couldn't move. I simply stood there, staring at what had happened.
Clara immediately grabbed my hands tightly, holding onto me as I struggled to process everything.
