Chapter 169 A Luna's Defiance

Chapter 169 A Luna's Defiance
“Can you stop calling my mate your bride?” Kieran asked, his voice filled with anger. “She is no longer your bride. You abandoned her when she needed your trust the most, and we took her in. I see no reason why you should get her back. She chose us over you. That should be enough reason for you to kill yourself.”

The moment Kieran finished speaking, I noticed the change in Alex's expression.

His eyes slowly darkened, and the calm look on his face disappeared. I could feel the presence of his wolf beginning to surface, and it made me nervous.

I had seen Alex angry before, but there was something different about him now. His body became tense, and his grip tightened around the sword in his hand.

Before anyone could say anything else, the door suddenly burst open again.

A soldier rushed into the hall, looking exhausted and frightened. His clothes were covered in dirt, and he was breathing heavily as he looked toward Kieran.

“Alpha Kieran,” he said quickly. “The fight is going on outside the pack house, but the pack village is under attack. People's houses are getting burnt.”

My heart sank.

The pack village?

People's homes were being destroyed because of Alex.

I looked around the hall, unable to hide the fear on my face. This had gone far beyond my coronation. People who had nothing to do with our problems were now suffering because Alex had decided to attack.

Kieran's expression immediately changed.

He stepped down from his throne and walked toward Alex, his anger clearly visible.

“How dare you?” he roared.

Alex simply smiled.

“This is just the beginning if you do not give me my bride,” he said.

I looked at the sword in Alex's hand and then at Kieran.

Kieran didn't have a weapon.

Fear immediately filled me.

I didn't want him to fight Alex while he was unarmed, especially when Alex was already holding a sword and seemed completely prepared for a fight.

Before I could think properly, I stepped forward.

“Alex!” I screamed.

His attention immediately turned toward me.

His eyes landed on mine, and I could see the disgust in his expression.

Still, I kept walking toward him.

Kieran reached out and tried to pull me back.

“Stay here,” he said.

I held his hands.

“Please, just let me do this.”

I could see the worry in his eyes, but I didn't want him to fight Alex without knowing what he wanted. Maybe, somehow, I could make him stop this madness.

I slowly walked toward Alex until I was standing directly in front of him.

“What do you want?” I asked.

The sword he had been holding, ready to fight Kieran, was slowly moved back onto his shoulder.

“That is an interesting question,” he replied.

He looked directly into my eyes.

“I want you back.” My heart tightened.

I stared at him, trying to understand how he could say those words after everything that had happened.

“Do you want me back, or do you want me dead?” I asked.

There wasn't even a pause.“I want you dead,” he said plainly.

My eyes widened.

For a moment, I couldn't believe what I had just heard.

“You want me dead?”

“Yes.”

My anger immediately replaced the fear I had been feeling.

“Your existence bothers me a lot because you cheated on me.”

“I did not cheat!” I shouted. “How many times do I have to tell you? Your godforsaken sister lied on me. Why can't you get it into your thick skull?”

I could feel my anger rising as I spoke.

How many times did I have to explain myself?

How many times did I have to tell him that I had never cheated on him?

He had already destroyed so much of my life because of a lie, and even now, he still refused to listen.

Before I could process what was happening, Alex suddenly raised his sword.

My eyes widened. He was about to strike me.
I didn't even have enough time to move.

Kieran was luckily quick enough to grab me and pull me away from Alex, and the sword swung through the space where I had been standing only seconds earlier.

I stumbled backward into Kieran's arms, my heart pounding wildly.

“Elara, stay behind me!” Kieran shouted.

I looked at him, terrified.

Then I watched as Kieran slowly began ripping off his clothes.

I froze. What was he doing?

His body suddenly tensed, and I heard the sound of his bones cracking.

My eyes widened as I watched his body begin to change.

Was he transforming into a werewolf?

His muscles became larger, and hair began growing across his body. His hands changed into large paws with sharp claws, while his face slowly transformed into that of a wolf.

I stepped backward, staring at him in shock.

At the same time, Alex began transforming too.

His body changed just as quickly, and within moments, both of them had transformed into enormous wolves.

They were both much larger than normal wolves, and the sight of them standing opposite each other made me instinctively move away.

Then they attacked. Kieran lunged toward Alex first, and the two wolves collided with tremendous force.

Alex tried to bite Kieran, but Kieran moved quickly and clawed at Alex's back with his sharp claws.

Alex growled and turned toward him, attempting to fight back.

The hall immediately erupted into chaos.

People screamed and rushed toward the exits, trying to get away from the fight. Chairs were knocked over, tables were pushed aside, and some of the Alphas quickly moved out of the way.

I stood there frozen for a moment, watching Kieran and Alex fight.

Kieran clawed at Alex's back with his sharp claws, and the hall erupted into chaos as everyone tried to run out.
