Chapter 154 Echoes of Vengeance
Chapter 154 Echoes of Vengeance
Alex’s POV
I sat across my room, shaking my leg repeatedly as I felt anger boiling inside me.
Everything that had happened kept replaying in my mind, and the more I thought about it, the angrier I became.
Kieran and Victor thought they had gotten rid of me easily.
They probably believed that after everything that had happened, I would simply accept it and move on.
They were wrong. They didn't know me well enough to understand that I wasn't someone who would sit quietly after being humiliated.
I leaned back in my chair, my fingers tapping against the armrest as I tried to control my temper.
My beta stood in front of me, waiting patiently.
“Alpha Alex,” he finally said, “that means your sister was right all along. Elara is not only well and healthy, she's also the mate of Kieran.”
My leg immediately stopped shaking.
I looked up at him. “What did you say?”
“I got the information today,” he continued. “Kieran publicly announced Elara as his Luna, and they'll be hosting a feast in two days' time. He has publicly accepted her.”
I stared at him for a few seconds. Kieran had publicly accepted Elara?
After everything? My expression hardened.
“What else happened?”
“Today, his beta was disgraced and exposed by Elara. He was also persecuted, and it turned out that the beta was actually killing some of the maids in his pack.”
I leaned back slowly.
“Hmm.” There was a lot to process.
Elara had somehow managed to turn the entire situation around in her favor.
Once again, she had found a way to make herself look innocent.
“So much,” I muttered. My fingers curled around the armrest.
“And that slut, Elara, has found a way to pretend to be the Messiah of that pack. This was exactly what she did in my pack, confusing me into thinking she was a good person.”
My beta nodded. “Yes, Alpha. She wore the marks of being the perfect woman, not knowing that she is worse than any other person. Now she is buying her way into that pack, pretending to be the best.”
I gave a bitter laugh.
“Yes, she is doing exactly the same thing.”
I stood up from my chair and began walking around the room.
The thought of Elara standing beside Kieran as his Luna irritated me more than I wanted to admit.
She had gone from being someone I thought I had finally gotten rid of to becoming the woman everyone in another pack was celebrating.
And now they were planning a feast for her.
A mating ceremony. I shook my head.
“No.” My beta watched me carefully.
“Does Alpha Kieran really think I'm going to let this go?”
I turned toward him.
“He just waged a war between the both of us, and that war is one I'm going to fight until I make sure his pack crumbles for taking a property that does not belong to him and not fulfilling his promises.”
My voice became colder as I spoke.
I wasn't going to sit back and watch Kieran celebrate.
He had taken Elara from my pack, and now he was publicly presenting her as his mate as though nothing had happened.
He wanted to make everyone believe that she was innocent.
Fine, Let him believe he had won.
My beta looked at me with curiosity, a small smile appearing on his face.
“What are you going to do?”
I stopped walking. I turned to face him.
“Well, first of all, I'm going to ruin that big feast.”
His smile widened. I walked back toward my chair and picked up the glass sitting on the table.
“That mating ceremony is going to become a bloody ceremony.”
Slowly, Kieran leaned closer and placed a kiss on my lips.
It was soft and warm, and the moment his lips touched mine, a shiver ran down my spine. I hadn't expected it, and for a few seconds, I simply stood there, trying to process the warmth spreading through me.
My cheeks immediately bloomed with embarrassment.
I pulled away slightly, but I couldn't stop the small smile that appeared on my lips.
Kieran looked at me with a gentle expression, and I lowered my gaze, suddenly feeling shy. I didn't know why being around him made me feel this way so easily.
He seemed to notice my embarrassment, but thankfully, he didn't tease me about it.
Instead, he stood up and stretched his hands toward me.
“Give me your hands. There is somewhere I want to take you to,” he said.
I looked at his outstretched hands with curiosity.
“Where are we going to?” I asked.
He smiled. “Don't worry. I'm taking you somewhere. Come, let's go.”
I hesitated for a moment before reaching out and gently taking his hand.
His fingers wrapped around mine, and he helped me to my feet.
I adjusted my gown before following him out of the room.
As we stepped into the hallway, my gown trailed softly along the floor behind me.
Several maids were already moving around the palace, but the moment they saw Kieran approaching with me, they immediately stopped and bowed.
“Good evening, Alpha.”
“Good evening, Luna.”
I smiled at them. To be honest, it felt kind of powerful.
Who would have thought there would be a day when these same maids would be bowing to me?
I remembered how some of them had looked at me when I first arrived.
Some had stared at me with jealousy and disapproval, while others had barely tried to hide their dislike for me.
Now, everything was different. I waved at them with a small smile on my
lips.
Some of the maids smiled back, although I could tell that some of those smiles were forced.
I knew there was still pain and jealousy behind some of their expressions, but there was nothing they could do about it.
I was now the Luna of the pack.
The thought alone made my cheeks heat up. Luna.
I was still getting used to hearing that title attached to my name.
I glanced at Kieran and held his hand a little tighter. He looked down at me.
“What is it?” he asked.
“Nothing,” I replied quickly.
He smiled, seemingly amused by my reaction, but he didn't question me further.
We continued walking through the hallway.
The farther we went, the quieter the palace became. I began wondering where exactly he was taking me.
“Kieran,” I called softly.
“Yes?”
“Are we almost there?”
“You'll see.”
I frowned slightly.
He was clearly enjoying keeping me curious.
We walked for several more minutes until we reached a path that led toward an area I had never seen before.
I slowed down. Where were we?
The path looked different from the rest of the palace grounds. It was surrounded by greenery, and the further we walked, the fresher the air became.
Then I saw it. A garden. My steps gradually slowed as I stared ahead.
I had never seen this place before.
There were different kinds of flowers everywhere, each one adding something beautiful to the garden. Some were small and delicate, while others had grown into large bushes filled with colorful petals.
The soft evening air carried the sweet scent of fresh roses.
I breathed in slowly, allowing the fragrance to fill my senses.
Then I noticed something moving in the air.
Fireflies. There were several of them glowing softly around the garden.
I watched them with fascination as they moved between the flowers, their little lights appearing and disappearing against the darkness.
My eyes widened.
“This is…”
I couldn't finish the sentence.
There was also a swing in the middle of the garden.
It was a majestic white swing, beautifully placed among the flowers. Everything around it looked so peaceful that for a moment, I forgot about everything else.
The problems. The rumors. The beta. The past.
Everything disappeared from my mind as I stood there taking in the beauty around me. I was completely mesmerized.
My jaw dropped slightly as I looked from one side of the garden to the other.
I had never seen anything like this before.
It looked like paradise. I slowly walked forward, still holding Kieran's hand.
“Did you do all of this?” I asked.
He didn't answer immediately.
Instead, he watched me from a short distance away, a small smile playing on his lips.
He seemed more interested in watching my reaction than in looking at the garden himself.
“Do you like it?” he finally asked.
I turned toward him. “I don't like it.”
His smile disappeared slightly, and I immediately laughed.
“I love it.” His smile returned.
“This is so beautiful,” I continued, looking around again. “This is the most beautiful thing I have ever seen in my life.”
I turned slowly, taking in the flowers and the glowing fireflies once again.
I couldn't stop smiling. For the first time in a long time, I felt completely at peace.
And somehow, I knew I would remember this place for a very long time.
