Chapter 33

"I'll tell you all that I know." He said, " this city is a trap, nothing makes sense at all. The leader is a crazy man and he has a grip on every citizen of the city controlling our lives with the power he has, no one can face him he's lived for a pretty long time and his orders cannot be revoked or death is the price for the person to pay, he kills at wish and does anything he could to instill fear in everyone's heart and we can't even do anything against it. The worst part is he has spies everywhere to maintain the order of the society, it's really crazy, the feeling is crazy and that's why even doing this I'm being cautious because If I'm caught I would be dead." He said, and fear gnawed at me, what exactly is going on? It all felt unreal but why would such a thing be happening here. "So tell me how exactly did he instill fear in everyone to make them so obedient to his crazy rules?" I asked, and I could see the sad look on his face. "The whole city carries a virus that no one knows the source of and the only one who possesses the temporary cure is the leader who rules over us all. And for the cure to be circulated you must abide by his strict rules, just like I said earlier, which consist of spies and the death that follows either directly or indirectly. That's why we have to follow either we want to or not." He said, and I felt scared and crazy. "If this is happening why aren't people leaving? Or finding a solution on their own? This is something research can cure if there's a temporary cure then there should be a permanent cure if the research is made?" I said, "that's true but the temporary drug only takes two days to fade. And it takes a whole toll on the person if it's not taken immediately the side effect starts showing up." He replied and I felt so sad at the thought of that and then it struck my mind, the project Sebastian wanted to start could have been functional to these people helping them get a lasting cure to this dreadful horror that ravaged their life would have been a great goal to accomplish. And then it struck me I've been conversing with this guy for a pretty long time and he's got the disease hope I haven't caught it so I jumped up in fear "fuck!!!" I shouted and he looked at me surprised at how I jumped up that way "what's wrong?" He asked and I looked at him in horror that rimmed through my mind "you've got the disease and we've been conversing. I'm scared that I've caught the disease now. I really I'm going to become like you guys not being able to do what I want whenever I want it." I said, as I bowed my head in sadness and he burst into laughter as if he was mocking me, I was angry and I wanted to hurt him at that moment not knowing why he was laughing. " Why are you laughing?" I asked, and he replied "I don't have the disease." And I couldn't believe him, " how do I believe you? From what I know you've been living in this city for quite a long time and now you're telling me you don't have the disease? How do you expect me to believe the words you're speaking right now?" I said, and he looked at me maintaining his composure and poise, "I'm serious, I don't have the disease." He said, although I didn't seem to believe him, I had to listen to what he had to say. Why does he not have it and the others do? How has he been keeping himself from the claws of the disease? I was so curious about this new discovery " how's that possible?" I asked, and he looked at me and smiled, "although I've lived in this city for a long time, they're certain people who this disease isn't affecting and we all know ourselves, the beauty behind it all is none of us know why we don't have it. Because the other Lycans in the city are affected by the disease." I sat down at that point at the information and digested it. "So why are you guys still in hiding?" I asked, and he looked at me and the sadness that had faded away from his face returned, and with tears this time, and I wondered why he was crying, "what's wrong? Hope I haven't said anything wrong?" I asked, feeling guilty because of his tears, wiping his tears and looking back to me "I'm in hiding because there are only three of us left." He said, and I was surprised that if there were actually people who were able to not contract this disease, there should be more than three, so why were there three, "what happened with the others?" I asked, and I could feel the restraint in his soul to tell me about what happened to the others but he still summoned up every ounce of energy in him and he gave an answer to my question. An answer I was expecting but in a different tone " they were maimed." I was frightened. Why did he use them? He chose to use maime instead. It was evident that my soul couldn't take what was to come. I was still curious about what they were and how they died, so I decided to ask "how were they maimed?" He looked back at me, sending a very clear message to me, "I would tell you but I hope I never have to tell this story anymore after this." Were the words he said to me and I instantly knew I was in for a treat of fear and agony. And of what use was it if I didn't listen? I decided to calmly listen, to the horror of those who defied the ways of the city. It was a feeling I wanted out of me but my curiosity was still playing its game on me.
