Chapter Thirty-four
"We called ourselves the immortals, it was like an organization of those immune to the disease, we didn't know why we were immune but we were sure to have a large influence on how things turned out in the city, we were sure to be the missing piece the city needed to start changing and stop clinging to the arms of the oppressor that ruled on this city with his obsessive and crazy tyranny. It was a difficult choice to make but we decided to start marching against his will. We were just fifty in number. It was a very courageous move and we were willing to do a lot more so as to salvage the city from his blood craving hands." He started and I was really feeling his emotions pour out through his words. He stopped and heaved a heavy sigh "it all started on that dreadful night, the night that changed a lot of things. We had just discovered that a new person was immune to the disease and it was a really colorful night for the immortals, a new movement, a new person. It was like a dream come true. On that night was a meeting about how we were going to start our confrontation. It was colorful to everyone and that was a very beautiful night. The discussion was going on very fine until at one point we heard movement at our secret hideout, it was something that had never happened in the history of the immortals, the meetings we held were top secret and it was never to get out so who exactly was approaching where we were? Everyone was feeling scared but we all stood still since it was just from one person and not multiple footsteps we were sure we could take on the person without raising a sweat. And that was where we were mistaken." He said, and stopped and that was the point where I knew it was hitting him harder than I thought, it was crazy and intense a severe curse that ravaged the heart of those who were defied to attain greatness and confined to the one point of their lives that they never wanted, I could get that vibe from him and it was massive. "So what happened after you guys heard the footsteps?" I asked, trying to make it easier for him to talk. In an instant the light went off and all I could hear was something that sounded like piercing, I was scared and I made the run for it, I didn't know where I was running to, but luckily for me I got into a hole that I never knew existed and I went blank, I never knew how many days had passed since I fell into the unreal caused by the fear I caught, I crawled out of where I was and I the sight that welcomed me was one I never wished I'll see till I eventually end up dead. Everyone in the room was lying dead, all my comrades dead in cold blood, I wanted to run mad, it was something I never imagined. But looking at all those on the floor only one person was missing. Just one and that was the newbie. That was the point that I found out that the whole immortals were fooled. And since then I've been in hiding. Away from the public, running this cafe was my way of giving back to the city and trying to give my fellow immortals who died in the path of changing the city that gave birth to them." He said, and I really felt everything he said, I was really sad and I wanted to help but I was still helpless. This was beyond me and this wasn't what I wanted to venture into, but this city held secrets hidden from the other parts of the world and I wanted to know what more it held. "So you never got to find out who the newbie was?" I asked, and he heaved another heavy sigh and looked at me "well… the newbie was someone everyone later got to know he was twin, I call them the duo of the devil, they annihilate anyone who tries to do anything about the situation of things, no one has ever met the leader, they are the mercenary of the devil, that delivers judgment to those who defy the one who rules over them which is the devil himself. The creative bastard that has the key to everyone's lives." His words were heavy and I could feel his pain. I wanted to do something. I felt the urge to do something. Maybe being brought here wasn't by chance. Maybe it was for a reason only fate wanted me to find out on my own. But I wasn't strong enough, I wanted to fight the devil, so I have to behave like the devil, I have to reason like him. I needed time, I needed space and a great plan that'll hatch into what I want. Ayesha surely knew about what was going on here for her to have sent me here, she must have in depth knowledge of things here and she must have released me to die, in this city concealed from civilization, the last place Sebastian would come looking. Everything hit me at once, everything made me feel crazy. Why does it have to be me? Why do I have to suffer this dreaded fate that life has to offer, losing the person I love the most and also being confined in the most dangerous place I can think of after facing several life endangering situations on the way, it was what I never thought of it was my wildest dreams and it was becoming a reality to me. But what exactly do I do next?
