Chapter 79 SELF DOUBT

Chapter 79 SELF DOUBT
Lady Eleanor's heart ran cold on hearing that. What did that mean? She would do the ritual. She had knowledge about it but she has never done one ever before.
She murmured, “I..can't do it. What..what if something goes wrong? This is going to be my first time ever doing it. You have to find another person.”
Instead of Evelyn to back down, she went on and one trying to convince her.
“If yoi don't do it now, you will never know your capability. Do you forever want to be stuck as a higher person but unable to be trusted?”
Lady Eleanor's face twisted in self-doubt, her eyes clouding over with uncertainty. There was no way she could do it. But thinking about Evelyn's words, she was damn correct. She had the power to see visions but not the strength and trust in herself to help them overcome whatever.
To overcome these, it had to be dealt with with rituals. If she can't do that, she wouldn't be valued.
“But what if I fail?" she asked, her voice laced with fear. "What if I'm not strong enough?"
Evelyn's grip on Lady Eleanor's arm tightened, her fingers digging deep into her skin. She understood lady Eleanor's fear. If she was in her position, she would have ran out of the Palace in fear that she would have no other choice than to do the ritual.
But she must be selfish this time fot the sake of several people. "You can't think like that, Lady Eleanor," she said, her voice firm. "You have to believe in yourself. You're our only hope."
The air was thick with tension as Lady Eleanor wrestled with her doubts. Could she really do this? Could she really save the kingdom? How could she tell them there was worst complications if she failed to wrestle with the Beasts. And what was most frightening is that they dont really know the kind of beast it is, they could only sense its power.
In most cases, they have sane energy level but different complicated powers. What if she failed in her mission, what about the people that will claim vengeance on her?
No, her baby also. Her baby would be cursed for eternity. She can't allow that. But she couldn't go on trying to convince them.
Lady Eleanor stood up, her movements stiff. "I need to go home and look after my baby," she said, her voice firm. "I'll think about this and decide what to do next."
Evelyn nodded, understanding in her eyes. "Of course, Lady Eleanor. You go take care of your child. We'll discuss this further when you're ready."
Lady Eleanor turned to leave, her long skirts rustling as she walked out of the room. Evelyn watched her go, a mix of emotions on her face. She knew that Lady Eleanor was their only hope, but she also understood the importance of family.
She also understood that there was some ynsaid conversation she didn't want to branch into. Maybe the aftermath of the ritual. Would she be in danger after that?
Evelyn sincerely hoped and wish Eleanor will think thoroughly. She was dying to have peace as well. She was tired of this horrifying ghost beast. Her tears nearly fell again thinking back to the time she still have a good night sleep.
She couldn't remember well, she had to cover up her tired eyes with makeup. That was unlike her.
The room fell silent, the only sound the soft ticking of the clock on the wall. Evelyn stood there for a moment, lost in thought, before turning to leave. She knew that she had to do something, but what, she wasn't quite sure yet.
………..
All the way back to the house, Eleanor's mind was preoccupied with the thought of the ritual. The ghost beast. As they made their way home, she expected the beast to appear to her, but surprisingly she didn't find anything suspicious.
She had already made you her mind and decided. But she needed confirmation from her family. They were the most important in times like this. Especially her kid, she couldn't bear the pain of losing him.
The very first thing the beasts will do will be to attack her family. And they would start from the weakest.
As they got home, she walked into the house. She could already sense the cologne of her husband from far away, so she knew that he was back, probably waiting for her.
“My Lord, I am back.”
Lord Harrington slowly turned to Eleanor. He had been waiting for her for quite some time now. He had specifically told her not to leave the house. But she still did do against his wish.
Lord Harrington's expression changed from one of mild irritation to deep concern as he took in Lady Eleanor's pale face and troubled eyes. "Eleanor, what's wrong?" he asked, his voice low and urgent. "You look like you've seen a ghost."
He has never seen Eleanor like this, she looked deeply troubled. What is going on with her?
Lady Eleanor hesitated, unsure of how much to reveal. She hadn't told her husband about the conversation with Evelyn, and she wasn't sure if she should. He would be scared just the way she was. But something about his gentle tone put her at ease, and she found herself taking a deep breath and beginning to explain.
"I'm just... worried," she said, her voice barely above a whisper. "There's something I need to do, but I'm not sure if I can."
Lord Harrington's eyes narrowed, his brow furrowing with concern. "What is it, my love?" he asked, taking a step closer to her. "You know you can tell me anything."
Lady Eleanor hesitated, unsure of how to proceed. But as she looked into her husband's eyes, she knew she could trust him. She took another deep breath and began to explain, telling him about the ritual and her fears about failing.
Lady Eleanor took a deep breath and explained the situation to her husband, Lord Harrington. "Evelyn wants me to perform a ritual to help the kingdom," she said, her voice laced with concern. "She believes I'm the only one who can do it, but I'm scared."
Lord Harrington's expression turned serious. "What kind of ritual?" he asked, his eyes locked on hers.
Lady Eleanor hesitated, unsure of how to explain. "It's to defeat a powerful ghost beast that's been terrorizing the kingdom. But I'm not sure if I can do it. What if I fail?"
Lord Harrington's face softened, and he took her hand in his. "You're worried about the consequences?" he asked gently.
Lady Eleanor nodded, her eyes welling up with tears. "Yes, I'm worried about what might happen to our son, to our family. If I fail, the beast could come after us, and I couldn't bear the thought of anything happening to him."
Lord Harrington pulled her into a warm hug. "We'll face this together," he said. "We'll find a way to make it work. But you need to believe in yourself, my love. You have the power to do this."
Lady Eleanor took a deep breath, feeling a sense of comfort wash over her. She knew her husband was right. She needed to trust herself and her abilities. But the fear of failure still lingered, and she couldn't shake off the feeling that she was taking a huge risk. Lord Harrington held her close, offering her the strength and support she needed to make a decision.
