Chapter 14: Park and Chui

Tila nahugot ang hininga ko nang makita'ng wala nama'ng tumatawag sa akin. Sabay kami'ng napatingin sa babae at sa bag na suot nito. Tumingin ako kay daddy, nakita ko sa rear-view mirror na nakatingin siya sa akin.

Sinenyasan ako ni mommy na hawakan ang babae at s'ya na ang kumuha ng cellphone nito na patuloy sa pagriring.

Huminga muna ng malalim si mommy bago sinagot sang tawag. Ni-loud speaker niya ito.

"Hello Queren? Where the hell are you?! Sabi mo kanina pauwi ka na?! Nandito na kami'ng dalawa ni daddy wala ka pa rin! Nasaan ka ba, susunduin na kita!" bungad ng lalaki, tila nabosesan ko ito ngunit hindi ko na lamang pinansin. Kabado ako'ng tumingin kay mommy.

Gulat na gulat s'ya, tumingin siya sa babae at hinawi ang buhok nito. Tinapatan niya ng liwanag ng cellphone ang mukha nito.

'Oh my god Aquill' bulong nito kay daddy.

Napansin ko naman na nakatingin din sa mukha ng babae si daddy, humigpit ang hawak niya sa manubela at lalo'ng bumilis ang takbo ng sasakyan.

"Dad" agaw pansin ko sa kan'ya ngunit tila wala siya'ng narinig.

Hello? Queren? Sino kayo, nasaan ang kapatid ko?!"

["Why, what happened?"] tanong naman ng kasama nito.

"H-Hello, Acsel, i-it's me" A-Acsel? Acsel Chui?! Please tell me no! Holy fvck!

["Tita Sharmie? Nasa inyo ba si Queren?"] oh God!

S'ya nga! Sh*t! Is he related to her?!

"Y-Yes, she's with us" tila nagbuhol-buhol na naman ang laman ng utak ko.

Acsel, my best friend, sh*t!

["Oh, akala ko naman ay kung napa-ano na s'ya. Busy ba siya, bakit ikaw ang sumagot ng tawag?] muling tanong ng isang lalaki.

["Dad"] tila nananaway na tawag ng isa. Narinig ko naman na bumuntong-hininga na lang ang lalaki.

"Tita can you ask her what time will she get home?"nahugot ang hininga ko..

M-mom..

"We're here" seryoso'ng anuns'yo ni dad. Napalingon kami ni mommy sa kan'ya.

Napagtanto ko naman na nasa hospital na kami.

["You're not home, tito, tita?"] muling tanong ng nasa kabilang linya.  Napatingin ako kay mommy.

"Kian, move! Give her to me!" sigaw ni daddy sa akin na ikinagulat nami'ng dalawa ni mommy.

["Tita?"] tano'ng nito nang walang nakuha'ng sagot kay mommy.  Dahan-dahan ko'ng ini-angat ang babae at ibinigay ito kay dad.

Pagkakuha ay bumaba na rin ako ng sasakyan.

"Hello, Acsel, we're h-here at the hospital. W-we're sending Queren to the hospital, please be here. I will send you the details"

"W-Wait, tita! W-what?!"

["What did you just say?!"] rinig ko nama'ng tanong ng daddy ni Acsel, kasunod ko na rin si mommy papasok sa loob.

Naisakay na sa stroller ang babae, they knew her. Acsel is related to her, sh*t!

I am just the one who don't recognized her! Who is she?!

D*mn!

"She got hit by the motor, I will just send you the details, bye"

["Wha-"] hindi na namin narinig ang sasabihin ng lalaki dahil pinatay na ni mommy ang tawag.

Nag type sya gamit pa rin ang cellphone ng dalaga.

"What happened to the patient?" tanong ng doctor nang maipasok si Queren sa emergency room.

"She got hit by a motorcycle" sagot ni daddy.

"Nurse, check her vitals immediately"

"What's her name?"

"Queren, Queren Andrea Chui" sagot ni daddy.

"Are you the parents or any of her relatives?"

"I am her parent's friends" muling sagot nito.

"Doc" tawag ng nurse, humarap s'ya sa amin.

"Give me a minute" paalam niya at saka humarap sa nurse, nag-uusap sila.

Wala ako'ng maintindihan dahil halos medical term lahat ng ginagamit nila.

"Kindly sign this paper Mr. just let me know if the parent's has arrived. She has a major head injury and need an immediate operation." mahabang litanya ng doctor kay daddy, agad naman n'ya ito'ng pinermahan.

That makes my heart beats threetimes faster..

"Nurse, bring her to the operating room" utos ng doctor at agad nama'ng sumunod ang mga ito.

"I will doc, thank you, please save her" tinanguan lamang s'ya ng doctor, kinuha ang papel ay umalis na.

Nakaupo ako sa bench ng hostipal sa tapat ng emergency room while sila mom ay umiiyak sa dibdib ni daddy.

They knew the patient.

Acsel, she's his sister.

The one he's talking whenever we're having a man to man talk.

What the hell I've done, what should I do? Please girl be alive, I'm begging, please.

"Queren Andrea Ms" rinig nami'ng tanong ng isang lalaki sa may nurse station malapit sa amin.

Nagkatinginan kami'ng tatlo bago tumingin sa gawi ng nurse station.

"Sir wala kami'ng patient na Queren ang name" sagot ng nurse.

"Iyong babae na dinala dito kanina lang"

"Ah meron sir, nasa emergency room siya. Just walk straight to that hallway, nand'yan lang po ang sign board ng emergency room" turo ng nurse sa dalawang lalaki na kausap.

"Thank you"

Lalo'ng nagpawis ang nanginginig ko nang kamay, patuloy ang pag-tap ng paa sa sahig. Ang puso ko ay tila hinahabol ng tigre sa sobrang bilis ng tibok nito. Pinagpapawisan ako kahit malamig naman sa hospital na ito.

Papalapit na nang papalapit ang yapak na naririnig ko.

Maya-maya pa ay nakita na namin sila, inihanda ni daddy ang sarili, nilapitan ako ni mommy.

"Everything will be okay my son, tell us what happened when they started to ask" sabi niya habang hinihimas ang likod at buhok ko.

"Sharmie! Aquill! Where is my daughter, what happened to her?" agad na tanong ng lalaki nang makita kami.

"Tita, tito, what happened" sumilip si Acsel sa loob ng k'warto "Where is she, the nurse said she's in here" tanong n'ya matapos isara ang kwarto.

"She's in the operating room" napatigil ang dalawa sa sinabi ni daddy.

"W-Why" nagtatakang tanong ni Acsel "Dad" alalay nito sa ama nang bigla ito'ng manghina.

"W-why she's in the operating room" tanong nito matapos paupuin ng anak sa kahilera ng inuupuan ko.

"She got hit" muling sagot ng aking ama.

"By what! By whom?! Can you complete your statement?!" galit na tanong ng kausap.

"Dad, calm down" pang-aalo nito, hinahagod ang likod ng ama para mapakalma ito.

My dad sighed "Kian accidentally hit her, of his motor, on the place where her girl friend get hit"

Napatingin sa akin ang mag-ama. I don't know what to say but I know I have to speak.

"The doctor said she needs an immediate operation because she got major head injury from the incident.

Tumingin si daddy sa akin para senyasan na magsalita ako. Tumingin ako sa mag-ama..

"T-tito I-I didn't know she's your daughter.. I m-mean, I thought s-she was.. S-she was K-KC. I'm sorry, I really didn't know" I said while apologitically looking at them.

They knew, they knew what is happening on me everytime I came home from states.

"You used to hug your girl friend's spirit whenever you sees her on that place, even you can't hold anything from her, how come you hit the one you've mistaken?" that's Acsel.

"Dude, I-I decided to get rid of her, get rid on her thoughts, on her memories, so as my stepping stone. I planned to crash the woman I saw that time. My plan was ready to accomplished not until the girl I mistaken looked back" I look at them, one by one. I stop when I met his gaze.

"I was so near on crashing her but she looked back, then that was the moment I realized that she isn't KC"

I was stuttering.. Trembling.. I know what to say but I didn't know how to say it..

"I-I panicked, I immediately wanted to stop the load but nothing happened, it was fast, I just noticed I was rolling on the ground"

"Oh god" si mommy, tumingin ako sa kan'ya.

"Mom, I d-didn't.. I-it's not my intention mom.. I mean, she's not the one I intended to crash.." tumingin ako sa mag-ama.

"T-tito.. Acsel.. Believe me.. I didn't know" pagpapaintindi ko sa kanila.

THIRD PERSON POV

"God d*mn" that's  Nico, cupping his face with his both palm while putting his two elbow on his parted knees.

While Acsel weakedly sit on his daddy's side. Frowning, don't know what to say, what to do, and what to think.

Mr. And Mrs. Park were looking somewhere, thinking what will happened on their son while praying on Queren's safety.

Kian Park, who just wanted to get rid on his girl friend but sh*t happened. He's staring blankly on the wall, thinking what he had done, realizing the consequences of his mistakes. One mistake, one life at stake.

"D*mn" he hissed.

While the doctors are busy operating the patient—Queren. They are operating her head, the part that got the most injury.

Queren who just wanted to have a better family get crashed, mistaken by the driver.

The doctors are having hard time treating the patient.

She lost so much blood after her head was hit on the tree.
