Chapter 13 - Longing

I

Before Alpha Daedos would finally know that Lexus ran away with the missing Golden She-wolf, Lexus was already at Cooked Islands traveling now to their village and in the packhouse of the Mythical Silver Shadow Pack.

It was hard for Lexus to leave Daffodil but doing so would be the best move in the meantime to protect her. His longing for her is getting deeper and he felt an emptiness in his heart. He took a deep sigh and shook his head as if by doing so, he can be able to forget about Daffodil.

When he entered their pack house, he immediately looked for their Alpha Daedos, whom he found sitting on his Alpha’s Chair in the pack house Alpha’s hall. He looked at him with an unfathomable expression as he was approaching him.

“Alpha, apology, I just returned now,” Lexus said as he bowed his head to Alpha Daedos.

“Care to explain Lexus?” The Alpha’s tone was serious and Lexus’ instinct told him that something happened prior to his return.

Although Lexus readied himself already for this kind of question, he still felt uneasy when he answered. “I thought I found the missing Golden She-wolf already Alpha but I had some doubts, so I followed her and dig deeper about her identity; unfortunately the facts about her did not match on the information that we knew about the missing she-wolf,” He answered with lies.

“I see; well then, we need to search further Lexus. Two months from now will be Drew’s twenty-second birthday; he should find his mate by then so that he could be declared as the new Alpha. But he said later that he could not feel such mate pull in any of our she-wolves and even those he met outside of our pack. I have a guess however that he does not want to entertain any thought that his mate is just around because he wanted the missing Golden She-wolf.” Alpha Daedus stated. Somehow, he is not amenable to how his son Drew treats this mate matter.

In the history of werewolves, they usually choose their mates based on the so-called mate pull. Since birth, it was said that every werewolf has already had their destined mate; fated for them by the Moon Goddess. No one can run from this except for some exceptional werewolves, who would have the strength to reject their destined mates for valid reasons.

“Yes Alpha Daedos, I will start again to search,” Lexus promised his Alpha, although, in his mind, he does not know how he could be able to bring the missing She-Wolf to his Alpha; the missing She-wolf, whom she found already and happened to be his destiny … his mate.

“Lexus, I told Drew to find the missing She-wolf himself too; he needs to help if he wanted to be declared as the new Alpha.” Suddenly, Alpha Daedos said that awakened the senses of Lexus.

“That would be a big help Alpha,” All he could mutter as a reply to Alpha Daedos.

“How long could I be able to keep Daffodil from those who are intently looking for her and wanting her either as their Luna or as their mistress?” he thought confused.

In Los Angeles, Daffodil was not in her usual self. From the time that she arrived from her vacation, everything for her became difficult because she could not get Lexus out of her system.

“Ma’am Daffodil, Mr. Dixon called; he said you were not replying to his messages. He further said that he is already waiting for you outside.” It was her secretary who spoke whom she never even noticed knocking and opening her office door.

“What were you saying Ella?” furrowing Daffodil asked.

“Mr. Dixon Madam is already waiting for you outside,”

Daffodil’s eyes grew wide. “Oh my gosh, Dixon?, Ah yes, Dixon please tell him, I’m going down now.”

Ella nodded. She was actually wondering what was happening to her boss. Her mind seemed to be flying elsewhere for the past few days.

Daffodil walked briskly from her office going to the elevator. She totally forgot that she agreed to have dinner with Dixon tonight.

When she walked outside of their building, she immediately saw the nearby parked car of Dixon. She waved her hand when she saw Dixon’s head popped-out from his car’s window.

“Dixon, I am so sorry; I was busy all day.” She tried to explain and Dixon just smiled and nodded.

“No worries Daff, I can wait here until my eyes dropped down from their sockets.” Dixon joked at her and Daffodil felt guilty even more.

“You waited for almost an hour Dixon; sorry again.” She said looking at him frowning.

“Hey, it is fine. Come on, cheer-up; let us enjoy the night.” Dixon joyfully started his car’s ignition and was even whistling while driving.

Daffodil smiled. Dixon never runs out of energy and happiness.

“Daff, how was your vacation in Sydney?” all of a sudden Dixon asked.

Daffodil fell silent for a moment. “It was fun; I enjoyed walking around the city.”

“A friend of mine told me that she saw you in Sydney. At first, she thought it was not you. You were eating in a restaurant at the Harbor Cruises and you were with somebody.” Dixon’s words were said carefully. He did not want to sound jealous but deep inside Dixon has been troubled since yesterday when his friend Carla told him about it.

Daffodil was stunned. He looked at Dixon tongue-tied. Suddenly, her happy moments with Lexus in Sydney came flashing into her mind.

Sadness once again filled Daffodil’s heart.

While watching the expression of Daffodil, Dixon’s curiosity over that man she dated in Sydney, grew more.

Carla sent Dixon a photo of Daffodil and the man she was within Sydney, while they were eating in the said restaurant at the Harbor Cruise. When Dixon saw it, he became determined to know everything about the said man.
