Chapter 26 Husband
This morning, Julia seemed quite tired from all the drama she and her husband had just experienced. She had sat down with Rebeka to do some work, but she yawned repeatedly, feeling incredibly lazy. It seemed as if sleepiness was clouding Julia's eyes, and she felt completely lost.
"You're so sleepy, my friend. Usually, you're always so energetic when you're working. Was it perhaps a little too early for me to invite you here?"
"Not at all. I'm just feeling a little lazy today. A lot has happened recently, and it's made me quite tired. How are you? It seems like not seeing you for a few days has made me incredibly curious about some of the things that have been happening lately."
Rebeka, hearing this, seemed to smile. Indeed, the only person who knew about her feelings for Mr. Michelle was Julia. "Stop it! Don't you know that old man loves you deeply? I've been by his side all this time, but in the morning, I was just a coworker and nothing more. The one he loves is always you, the one he sees is always you, and it will always be like that, no matter what. You should feel lucky. Wouldn't it be much better if you were with Mr. Michelle? His job is already very stable, and you will definitely be loved sincerely, and he will definitely be loyal. More than that, I think compared to Robin, Mr. Michelle is far better in every way."
Julia could only smile wryly. She wasn't the type of woman to steal the man her best friend loved, especially one who always supported her through any situation. Even if Julia were alone in this world, she would never want to do that.
"What are you saying, Rebeka? Isn't it obvious that you love Lord Michelle? So stop acting like you can let that man be with me. And that's something I could never imagine."
Rebeka then smiled, knowing that her best friend wasn't a traitor or anything else. But more than that, the woman understood that this wasn't a relationship that could be called a husband. If her friend chose Mr. Michelle, Rebeka would certainly accept it graciously. There was no relationship between her and Mr. Michelle.
"But I can relate to you being with him."
"Stop it, I already have a husband."
Julia froze for a moment, stunned by her own slip of the tongue. How could she tell her best friend she was married? Surely, her best friend would ask her many questions about her husband, and she couldn't say anything. This was a terrifying situation, and she couldn't possibly let her best friend meet her husband because he was the head of the mafia. Julia knew Rebeka was a very sensitive woman, and she didn't want her best friend to know anything strange about her husband.
"What? Tell me again, Julia? You already have a husband? How is that possible? Didn't you just break up with Robin? You shouldn't be moving in with me just because you don't want me to set you up with Mr. Michelle, and then you have that excuse?"
"I'm not kidding you at all. I just got married. Maybe it was a pretty quick marriage that you think is impossible for me, but believe me, I've tried my best to ignore it. But then again, I am married. I don't know what happened to me and the man, but it all happened so quickly, and we got married. But believe me, throughout our marriage, I've found him to be a pretty good man. He's responsible and always defends me, and he's even willing to do anything for me."
"That's because you're newly married, so of course a man will show you all the good sides he's ever had. It's the same with Robin, isn't it? When you first started dating, Robin was such a perfect man to you. You always praised him and said there was no other man like him in the world. And then, in the end, what did you get? You were betrayed like this, and you didn't even know what to do. All men are the same. They'll be sweet at first, but once they get bored, they'll throw us away like trash. Especially the man you married; he only wanted your body; after he's satisfied with that, you'll definitely be thrown away."
"Are you wishing me harm, Rebeka?"
Rebeka felt incredibly guilty for saying that, and it came out of her mouth. The woman tried to smile and shook her head perfectly. It was something no one could ever imagine. How could she wish such a terrible thing on her best friend?
"No, I'm sorry, honey. I didn't mean to say that to you at all. I really don't think this is a good thing at all. I just wish you were a little more cautious after your first failure, but it seems like you're being too reckless in making decisions, and this is marriage. But again, as a friend, of course, I will always pray for the best for you. I always hope that you will find your soulmate and a husband who is truly loyal and loves you no matter what. If you're married, why don't you introduce your husband to me? Make a dinner tonight and invite him to come, because I'm very curious about him, okay?"
"He's a busy man, I'm not sure if he'll come or not."
"Force him, because I also need to assess your husband and I want to know his background. I don't want you to choose the wrong one again. Do you understand?"
Julia replied lazily. "Okay, I'll tell him to come."
Julia hoped that her friend would never become suspicious and find out who her husband really was.
"I'm not sure he wants to, but I'll tell him about it. I actually want this too, but I'm quite embarrassed. I'm sorry if I didn't invite you to my wedding, and by God, it wasn't on purpose or anything."
