Chapter 22 Meeting
Tonight's meeting was truly a long-awaited one for Julia. She truly wanted to avenge Robin's hurt, and of course, coming as the best version of herself was one of the things she had to do. Becoming the most arrogant woman ever, so that Robin couldn't say anything to her. Or even make him regret leaving Julia.
"Are you ready?" Kay asked, wrapping his arms around his wife's waist possessively. Ahead was a tightly closed room, and he knew that after this, his wife would be emotionally acting out as much as they could to show the one man there that her life was fine and even very happy. "In that VIP room, your ex-lover is already there, along with his wife, and his father-in-law's jokes. I'm pretty sure you're still trying to calm your feelings, which are anything but, aren't you? Relax, I can be your perfect partner in the play, and I can guarantee that bastard will regret dumping you like this. Consider this my thank you for taking some pretty important things from the police station this afternoon."
Julia couldn't help but hold her breath, fear and anger now mixed together, as if ready to explode within her. This was the day she'd been waiting for, and Julia would make sure Robin was destroyed before her eyes now.
"But doesn't Robin recognize you? Because at the auction, you seemed so competitive, and I know him so well that a man will remember anyone he encounters even just once."
"Do you think I'm Taku?" Kay began to mock Julia. "Even I stand in front of the chief of police of this country, I'm not afraid at all, let alone an insignificant man like Robin?"
Julia merely filtered the words until they both opened the door and saw three people inside, clearly feeling extremely tense.
"Mr. Harvey, it's so nice to meet you. I never imagined that my dream would come true today. Please sit down, and is she your wife?"
The old man tried to greet Kay and Julia, but of course, both of them smiled awkwardly, their feelings undeniable.
"I am also deeply honored to receive this wonderful invitation from you, Sir. And indeed, she is my wife. We have only been married for a month and are now enjoying our married life."
Robin, who was standing in front of Kay and Julia, was utterly shocked. First, he knew exactly who the man in front of him was. He was the man who had caused him to lose all the money he was supposed to use to buy the rare items he had promised his father-in-law. Second, the woman beside him was Julia, and this was even more terrifying. How could his ex-girlfriend be married? And married to the man who was so highly sought after throughout the world? Who doesn't know Kay Harvey, the famous businessman who is sought after by all other businessmen due to his wealth. More than that, this man truly possesses extraordinary political power and other powers, which will undoubtedly have a profound impact on anyone who knows him. This is a rare occurrence that Robin could not even imagine.
"Julia, is that you?"
Robin, who was about to approach Julia, was immediately stopped by Kay. This, of course, shocked his wife and his in-laws.
"Do you know Mr. Harvey's wife?"
And that was where Robin was completely at a loss for an answer. The man didn't even dare to say anything but remained silent, seemingly confused, unable to even utter a word. And at that moment, Julia felt victorious, and now she summarized, and her husband became even more possessive and direct.
"Perhaps your son-in-law misunderstood. Maybe he thought he knew my wife, or maybe he had seen her somewhere. But it turns out my wife is quite beautiful, which made your son-in-law slightly fascinated and think he had seen her before."
Kay's distinctive, overbearing voice made the old man extremely suspicious, and even Robin couldn't say anything.
"Stop saying anything that makes you feel embarrassed, Robin. After you spent all my money on useless things, I expect you to keep this business meeting quiet. If you do anything that makes Mr. Harvey angry, I can assure you I'll kick you out of my company."
Robin swallowed hard. The man then fell silent and sat down without saying anything else.
"Forgive my son-in-law, Mr. Harvey. I'm sure he just saw something. How could he possibly know your wife? This is absolutely impossible. Perhaps your wife is so beautiful that he thought he'd seen her somewhere, or even on a television show."
Robin continued to stare at Julia, trying to negotiate with the woman in front of him. However, Julia seemed to be avoiding his gaze, which made Robin incredibly annoyed at not having the opportunity to interact with her.
"I hope I get the opportunity to work with you, sir. We're making some truly extraordinary investments, and we'll ensure that whatever we do will be a pleasant experience for all of us. I'll offer you many benefits, and trust me, our company is now quite developed in its field, and we can assure you that you won't feel like you're making a loss. What do you think of our offer?"
"Shouldn't we discuss a few things before we discuss work? Like dinner and a nice chat about whatever we're supposed to be doing? Relax, sir. I'm not going anywhere without an appointment tonight, so I have plenty of time to chat with you. Besides, when it comes to making business decisions, I usually entrust everything to someone I trust, of course, after I've reviewed your company profile. Furthermore, I need to see several things, and that's something I have to do in person. I can't just jump in because I feel bad or because you invited me to a dinner like this to get more value from me and then invest in you without considering the risks. Since this is a large investment, I can't just hand over my money to you, can I? Furthermore, does your son-in-law work with you?"
Kay glanced at Robin with a rather disapproving look, and then Robin chose to look away.
"That's right, we're helping me manage the company now."
"For some reason, I'm a little skeptical of your son-in-law's performance. By the way, where is he from? I don't think I've ever seen or known him at all. Surely, you know that although I'm rarely seen at business meetings in any country, I'm quite selective and know who everyone is, even their descendants, very well. And what's the matter? I see this man, I don't know him at all. Which businessman's family is he from? Perhaps I could consider making this man a good company leader if he has the potential."
Robin's father-in-law couldn't even answer. He himself knew that his son-in-law wasn't from business family, but rather a member of the police force, always sent secretly to solve cases. In fact, he was also very annoyed with his daughter. From the start, he hadn't quite agreed to this marriage, but his daughter had always insisted and even threatened everything to get the marriage allowed.
