💠 Chapter 67 💠

Ryan’s POV

I found myself walking and walking nonstop until I saw a beautiful garden. It was white and almost blinding my eyes and I wandered where I was.

As I was still lost in my thoughts, I saw Brianna from a distance. She was not far from me and I smiled at her but surprisingly, she didn’t return the smile. Instead, she had a sad look on her face.

“Brianna” I called out but she refused to answer me

She turned her back at me but still didn’t move from where she was standing. Since she wasn’t that far from me, I decided to walk up to her. But as I kept walking, it became farther and farther and I had to stop when I was tired.

“Why is it so far when I was clearly seeing her from a short distance few minutes ago?” I thought to myself

I was still staring at her in confusion when I heard the beeping sound of machines. I tried opening my eyes but I couldn’t. I felt my body on a bed but no matter how hard I tried, I couldn’t open my eyes.

“Doctor, please save him. You have to do something quickly” I heard Brianna’s voice

“Brianna” I called again but I couldn’t hear my voice

Does it mean I can’t see or speak? What is wrong with me and why can’t I even move my body? Am I dying or am I dead already?

Brianna’s POV

I couldn’t stop the tears from rolling down my cheeks as I saw Ryan fighting for his life. The machine was beating nonstop and it was almost showing a straight line when it suddenly came back to life.

“His vitals are stable now but he’s still in a coma. He needs absolute rest so I hope you won’t make any noise when you are with him” the doctor said

I nodded my head and hurried to his side where I sat down. I don’t know why he suddenly started acting that way and I’m really scared. After I left the cartel, I decided to spend the night here and few minutes after I came in, the machine started beeping nonstop.

“When are you going to wake up Ryan? Even if you don’t think about anything or anyone else, think about me and how I’m feeling right now. I want you to wake up and smile at me. No, you don’t even need to smile at me. You can yell at me or scold me but just wake up, please” I said and bursted into fresh tears

Just when I thought I was going to be happy with Ryan, this had to happen. Why can’t I just be happy for once?

*Next morning*

It was the land phone that woke me up and I stood up to answer the call.

“Ma’am, there’s someone requesting to come to the ward. Her name is Helen” the attendant said

“Let her in” I said slowly and ended the call

I strictly warned them about anyone coming into Ryan’s ward because I don’t want him to face any danger again.

“Brianna, are you okay? You’ve gotten skinnier in just this few days, are you even eating at all? I’m sure you’ve not been sleeping and have probably been crying a lot. There are dark circles around your eyes” Helen said as soon as she got in

“I’ve been eating and sleeping well and I’ve not been crying too” I lied

It’s now that Helen mentioned it that I realized I’ve really not been eating. I think I ate once yesterday and that’s all.

“You can fool everyone including yourself but you can’t fool me. Shouldn’t you know that by now?” she asked rolling her eyes

“What am I supposed to do when he’s just lying lifeless there? He won’t even move and he can’t eat anything too. He must be really hungry right now” I said and started crying

“Get yourself together Brianna. You have to be strong for both of you because Ryan won’t be happy to see you in this state. You said someone tried to kill him so have you found out who it was?” she asked

“I already have a strong guess of who it is and I’m going to make him pay” I said with strong determination

“Is it one of his rivals in the business?” Helen asked

“No but you don’t need to worry about it, I will deal with it” I said with a smile and wiped my tears

“You are really scaring me Brianna. We’ve been friends for a while now and I’ve never asked you for anything. Can I ask for a favour today?” she asked

I stared at her for a long time, contemplating on whether to agree or not because I’ve never seen her so serious.

“Fine, you can ask” I said

“Don’t do anything until Ryan wakes up. I mean, don’t try to get revenge for him right now. I’m not asking you to give it up but just wait until Ryan wakes up” she said

“I can do whatever you ask of me…., except that” I said

“Please Brianna. Listen to me just this once” she pleaded

“I’m really sorry Helen. If the culprit is whom I’m thinking it to be, then it’s going to be really dangerous to just wait. I have to help Ryan in the little way I can before he wakes up” I said

“Fine! It’s not like you ever listen to what I say” Helen said

“Come on Helen, you know this is different. Until now, both my life and Ryan’s life are in danger so unless we catch the culprit, both of us will end up dying. Ryan is in a coma right now and I don’t know when he will wake up. I can’t sit idly and watch both of us die” I explained

“Okay, just make sure you are careful and let me know if you ever have to leave for anywhere” she said

“I will” I assured with a smile and went to sit beside Ryan

After staring at him for a few minutes, I left the hospital with Helen. The driver dropped her off and I went to the mansion to take my bath.

Instead of going straight to the company when I was done, I called all of Ryan’s guards. There were about twenty three in number and were well trained but I doubt if they could match up to my skills. Three were in the hospital with Ryan so only twenty are left.

“I called you here because I have something to discuss. I’ve decided to let myself get captured by those men that are after me” I said

“No, you can’t do that. We definitely won’t allow that because Sir Ryan is going to kill us if something happens to you” one of them said

“Just listen to my plan first” I said and paused to stare at their faces before speaking again

“Like I said, I will be going into the lion’s den, and that’s because I need to find out who the culprit is. The plan is simple! I will be going out alone for the next few days to make it easier for those guys to catch me. Before then, I’m going to put a tracker in my necklace. You guys are to come 6 hours after I’m kidnapped and remember that only five of you can come to take me out. The remaining fifteen of you are to remain here until Ryan wakes up. Even if the other five don’t return with me, you can’t try to save me. You need to protect this mansion and be ready to protect Ryan when he wakes up” I explained

“We absolutely can’t do that. If you have to go, then all of us will go with you. Sir Ryan won’t spare us if anything happens to you so what’s the point of staying behind?” one of them asked

“Don’t worry about that. I’m going to make a video before leaving so Ryan won’t be able to do anything to you. Just trust me okay?” I asked with a smile

“Our plan will take effect in the next three days so get ready. Remember that the remaining fifteen of you can’t make a move until Ryan wakes up” I said

“Yes ma’am” they bowed politely and I dismissed them

I know this plan is risky but what can I do? Ryan’s life is in danger so I need to be sure if it’s Justin or someone else.
