Chapter 183
Elise thought for a moment.
"You can come over with mom and dad. It's only a few days anyway!"
Zander: [You don't want me to come so badly—do you have lover in Emerald City?]
Elise's face turned red, and Matthew's face flashed through her mind.
"You're overthinking it! I'm not talking about this anymore. I still have a lot of things to deal with. Come over this afternoon and we'll talk then!"
Elise held her phone with both hands, her eyes dim and her brow furrowed, caught up in complicated emotions.
At five in the afternoon, Elise got off work. Just as she left the company, Mia ran over.
"Ms. Sinclair!"
Elise froze, staring at her warily, and said mockingly, "What, wasn't being mocked by Luna and me the other day enough? You want more trouble?"
A flash of embarrassment crossed Mia's face, but she still forced herself to stay calm.
"I was too emotional that day. I shouldn't have treated you that way. I'm here to apologize!"
Elise thought over Mia's words, her eyes falling on the gauze on Mia's head. She's up to no good!
"Ms. Wilson, your head?"
Mia smiled awkwardly, "I accidentally bumped into a wall! Ms. Sinclair, do you have time to sit down at a coffee shop? I'd like to talk to you!"
Elise corrected her coldly, "Call me Amelia!"
Mia smiled bitterly, her eyes sharp and cunning.
"Ms. Sinclair, stop trying to fool me! You look like Amelia, but you're not Amelia! I know Matthew asked you back to the Moore Manor just to comfort his grandfather, and Luna also mistook you for Amelia!"
Elise said impatiently, "If that's all you want to say, I've heard it! Sorry, I have other things to do. Goodbye!"
Just as she turned around, Mia suddenly grabbed her hand.
"Ms. Sinclair, I love Matthew! After his grandfather passes away, can you give him back to me?"
Elise snorted coldly, "It's not about whether I give him back or not. It's about whether Matthew loves you or not!"
Mia said, "He sees you as Amelia. As long as you don't contact him, Matthew will accept me!"
Elise said, "Ms. Wilson, your behavior is no different from being a shameless person! Get away from me. I don't have time to waste here with you!"
She pushed Mia away. Mia grabbed her hand again, her eyes flashing with resentment.
"Elise, you're interfering in someone else's relationship—you're the shameless one!"
Just then, a man jogged over, his voice stern.
"Let go of Elise!"
Mia looked up to see a tall, handsome man approaching. He grabbed her wrist hard, and Mia winced in pain, quickly releasing Elise's hand.
"Who are you? How dare you touch Elise?" the man scolded Mia.
Mia looked at the man suspiciously, then at Elise.
"Sir, who are you?"
The man ignored her and asked Elise with concern, "Elise, are you okay?"
Elise shook her head, "I'm fine! Michael, why didn't you go to the villa? Why are you here?"
Michael's face showed affection, "I couldn't wait to see you!"
Mia's eyes revealed calculation, her eyebrows slightly raised, and she asked in a sarcastic tone, "This handsome gentleman must be Ms. Sinclair's boyfriend, right?"
Michael said coldly, "Elise is my fiancée! Why were you grabbing Elise's hand just now?"
Mia suddenly understood, looking at Elise with amusement.
"Ms. Sinclair, I didn't know you were already engaged? This is getting interesting!"
Elise's ears burned, and she said with disgust, "Whether I'm engaged or not is none of your business!"
Mia gave Michael a meaningful look and smiled knowingly.
"Sir, we'll meet again! Oh, here's my business card!"
With that, Mia handed Michael a business card, raised her eyebrows at Elise, and left.
Elise felt uneasy, wondering what Mia was up to now.
Michael picked up the business card and looked at it, his brow furrowing, "She's Matthew's wife? The daughter-in-law of Emerald City's most prominent family?"
Elise didn't know whether to laugh or cry. Can someone declare themselves a wife? Mia was really shameless!
"Forget about her. What should we eat tonight?" Elise asked.
Michael put his arm around Elise's slender waist and kissed her forehead.
"Whatever you want to eat, that's what we'll eat!"
Elise got into Michael's car and left, first returning to the villa. Elise brought Michael to a room.
"You'll sleep in this room from now on. When mom, dad, and Atticus come, they'll sleep in the master bedroom over there."
Suddenly, Michael hooked his arm around Elise's waist, his mouth kissing her hard, taking away her ability to speak. His hands slipped into her pants, moving back and forth over her smooth, firm ass.
Elise struggled and finally managed to push Michael away, her face completely red.
"Don't do this, Michael!"
Michael hooked his arm around her waist again, staring at her intently, his eyes full of primal desire.
"What's wrong? It's just the two of us now. Don't you want to be romantic?"
Elise said shyly, "Didn't I tell you we can't have sex before we get married!"
Michael didn't care, "What's there to be afraid of? You're going to be my wife anyway. This is called pre-wedding love! Come on, Elise, I'll make you feel good!"
Elise turned her face away, showing a hint of impatience.
"No, let's rest for a bit, take a shower, and then go out to eat!"
She escaped from the room.
Michael's brow furrowed as he licked his lips where he had just kissed Elise.
"Something doesn't seem right!"
After showering, Elise and Michael went out to eat.
While Michael talked to Elise about what had been happening at home since she came to Emerald City, he secretly observed her.
He noticed that Elise kept picking up her phone to look at it, distracted.
Michael's suspicions grew stronger!
The next morning, Michael and Elise had breakfast together.
"Let's go see a movie together tonight!" Michael said tentatively.
Elise turned her eyes and thought for a moment.
"I can't. I have a business dinner tonight!"
Michael was somewhat suspicious, his eyelashes lowered, "What business dinner is more important than me?"
Elise blinked and smiled.
"It's all for our Lawson Group!"
Michael's eyes held a hint of shrewdness as he patted Elise's hand.
"You've worked hard for the Lawson Group!"
After breakfast, Elise went to work at the company.
At three in the afternoon, before it was time to get off work, Elise left the company and drove to the Moore Manor to meet up with Matthew.
As Elise's car slowly drove through the gates of the Moore Manor, Michael's car was not far away.
Michael took off his sunglasses, his brow furrowed tightly, staring at the Moore Manor gate, and couldn't help muttering to himself, "How is Elise so familiar with the Moore family?"
Mia flashed through his mind. He took out Mia's business card and called her.
On the other end was Mia's gentle voice, so gentle it seemed fake.
Michael said coldly, "It's me, Michael!"
"Mr. Lawson!" Mia seemed to have expected Michael would call. "What can I do for you, Mr. Lawson?"
"Do you have time? I'd like to talk to you!" Michael said. "I'll send you the address!"
But Mia politely declined, "What would I have to talk about with Mr. Lawson?"
Michael snorted coldly, "Stop pretending! If you didn't want to see me, why give me your business card? I don't like beating around the bush!"
After hanging up, Michael had his driver take him to the place where he'd meet Mia, then shared the location with her.
Meanwhile, at the Moore Manor, Matthew saw Elise's car and his mood immediately brightened. He hurried forward to greet her.
"Amelia, you're here! Thank you for coming!" Matthew stared at Elise affectionately.
Elise smiled slightly, "It's no trouble! Is Grandpa's will ready?"
A hint of sadness passed through Matthew's eyes, "Not yet! We were waiting for you!"
