Chapter 216 - a battle to death.
Camila's P.O.V.
The he-wolf kicked Thanos in the stomach, which caused him to stumble slightly but allowed him a moment to get to his feet. Despite being wobbly, he charged for Thanos again, but Thanos snapped his teeth and quickly spun out of the way. Thanos dug his jaw into the he-wolf's back, breaking through the skin, and pulled. Successfully heaving him to the ground, he threw the he-wolf with all his might and growled in satisfaction when he fell into a heap on the ground. Thanos spat out the fur and skin from his jaws, lowering his head and growling again.
I could tell he was done playing around with the wolf and was going to end him this time.
The he-wolf shakily tried to get to his feet, growling as he haphazardly ran towards Thanos again. Thanos charged towards him as well, and they collided in a heap of fur. Claws sunk into flesh, fur flew, and growls filled the air. Thanos had counteracted the he-wolf's fight, driving his front paw so hard into his spine. It cracked, and he whined, faltering in his movements. Before he tried to recover, Thanos took the chance and locked his jaw around his neck, throwing the wolf over him. A high-pitched scream left the wolf's throat as he fell onto the dirt.
Despite being heavily injured with a broken spine, the he-wolf stared at Thanos with so much anger, so much hatred. There was not an ounce of fear on his face anymore. With one last breath of a fight, he threw his head forward and tried to latch onto Thanos, but Thanos wasted no time in sinking his teeth into the soft part of his neck, tearing through the jugular. He screeched as he began to bleed out, taking his last gargled breath. His blood clothed his fur as Thanos spat out his flesh, stepping back in victory.
“Yes!“ Kylie, Alex, and the rest of our warriors cheered from behind me as the crowd went quiet, all of them watching with wide eyes.
I could smell the sadness and anger in the air, and I scoffed. What were they expecting? They had wanted a fight to happen just as their Alpha did, and now they felt the sorrow that would have been wished upon someone else. Barbaric hypocrites, I couldn't help but feel angry towards them for thinking that a mere wolf would defeat an Alpha in a battle.
The sound of Kelvin commanding the next fight had me turn to face Raphael and the next competitor. Under the brightness of the sun, I could see he was much more built in size than the first competitor.
He glared, snarling at Raphael as he stepped into the circle. “Patrick Hudson, a warrior of the Crescent Moon pack, son of Gray Tyler and Hannah Lowe.”
He introduced himself and swiftly shifted, hitting the ground on four paws. His wolf, with light brown fur, was just a little bit bigger than the first fighter. Raphael's wolf, Thanos, growled, lowering his head in a menacing manner as they began to circle each other.
The whistle blew, indicating the beginning of the match, and the opposing he-wolf didn't hesitate to charge towards Thanos. His light fur was thin and long as he charged towards Thanos. Thanos stood preparing for him to launch at him, but the wolf didn't. Instead, he darted to the left, tricking Raphael out of the action.
Snarling, Raphael ran towards him only for the wolf to roll over on his back and land to the right. His paws kicked out in the process, unexpectedly shoving Thanos to the side. Thanos rolled due to the impact, but he quickly regained his stance by digging his claws into the ground and rolling from his back to leap up in defense.
Once he stood up again, the he-wolf darted to him. Like expected, he was about to jump over Thanos again, but Thanos quickly spun around, sinking his teeth into the wolf's side. He yelped as Thanos heaved, using the momentum of the wolf's jump against him by throwing him over. Just as the wolf crashed to the ground, Thanos rolled onto his back at the force and gently landed on his feet.
Then the he-wolf fell in a heap and leapt on his feet. His eyes stared at his body, and I smiled in contentment at the gaping flesh wound along his ribcage. The bones were showing through the tear Thanos had created. His chest fur was thick, but the skin seemed like it was easy to tear once you grazed the bone. His eyes snapped to Thanos, his gum retreating into his snout.
The he-wolf's hackles and claws were pounding as he once again went towards Thanos. Ready for his blurry blaze of fury, Thanos growled, preparing himself to take him on. The wolf had gone low this time, and like Thanos had suspected that would be her action, he sunk his teeth into the back of the wolf's neck. As the wolf darted beneath him, Thanos grabbed onto his scruff, allowing the wolf to pull him down. Thanos braced his front legs along the wolf's back as he slid across the ground, his legs giving way under Thanos's hold. The wolf slid too fast in the dripping blood, his paws losing friction. I heard the sickening crack of his front paws snap underneath Thanos as he skidded on the wet floor.
Now behind the wolf's flank, Thanos released his scruff and dug his claws into the wolf's sides before dragging through the skin. The wolf yelped loudly, spinning his head around to grab Thanos's toes, but he missed when Thanos moved his legs away. In a moment of fury, Thanos growled and clamped his jaw into the wolf's snout. The wolf yipped and growled, but Thanos kept his jaw clamped shut. The wolf shook his head, trying to escape, but Thanos grabbed harder with his teeth and claws to prevent him from moving. Satisfied at the amount of pain the wolf felt, Thanos finally released him from the grip.
His claw teeth and claws had gone deep, the wolf's fur staining with the waterfall of his own blood. The wolf stumbled, whinnying for help, obviously from the pain he felt, but Thanos paid no mind as he headbutted the wolf's side, making him stagger. Taking advantage of a moment of his imbalance, Thanos darted for the wolf's neck, tearing into his throat. He dug his claws into the wolf's ribcage, forcing him to the ground beneath his weight before tearing his throat apart.
I let out a breath I didn't realize I was holding as Raphael won again. The crowd had gone silent once again as they stared at the circle with shocked expressions. I didn't pay attention as I focused on Raphael. A deep growl of satisfaction emitted from his throat as he yet again defeated his competitor. It was purely primal—a battle to death.
